A super groovy trippy great song intro I fondly remember!!!!
".....The hat began to grow and grow and grow and grow!!! ...And all at once the Hat Began to Shake and rock look out!!!...falling falling into the hat he fell...spinning, turning, whirling, twirlling, Down Down, and when he looked into the skies he couldn't believe his ears or eyes...LIdsville is the Kooky kookiest, Lidsville is the kicky Kickiest, Lidsville is the Groove,-groove-grooviest..."
As a kid I would have never guessed that the actor playing Mark (Butch Patrick) also played Eddie Munster on the Munsters. Maybe I didn't recognize him because he didn't have his makeup on.
This show was aired two years before "Match Game". Charles Nelson Reilly became a household name of comedians before going into game shows as a celebrity.
if only saturday mornings could go back and have retro tv like this....i think we would all be happy again ! all of these shows were excellent.....kroft & marty had some neat tv shows back then .
What did you mean past them? Weird environs, wild colors and wacky charactors, is the center for all that Kroft Crap as you call it. It may have been crap but it sure is fun to reminice about. If you were trying to look past it, you were missing the whole point of the show. Hal, You seen O'Jennic?
I really get a laugh thinking about this being Butch Patrick's big comeback!!! Oh the humiliation!!!

Yes it's trippy, but am I alone in also discerning a Satanist undercurrent?
Satanism was/is very big in Southern California, and there were any number of shows (for example Mr Ed, The Addams Family, The Munsters) that had an occult premise.
Really? Satanism? I never saw this show so I really can't say for sure but like any of the Krofft Bros. productions I think it has more to do with LSD trips then the devil. And Mr Ed Satainic?! Ha! Are you are Mormon by any chance?
I'd agree that the programme was almost certainly the result of enthusiastic recreational drug-taking, but I don't see that that excludes the possibility of their also being a Satanist element.
I guess, I did a quick search on Google about all that Satanic stuff in so cal, seems to be true and if this show has an element of devil worshiping mixed in, I think most people will have missed that. Still, you could be on to something here, drugs and the devil; bad combo!.
Well, Howardysseus, I'd be interested to know how you arrived at that conclusion.
Clearly not by a close and careful reading of what I originally wrote. I was at pains to offer the Satanic interpretation of Lidsville (and, by implication, other Krofft series) as a hypothesis, not to assert it as an incontrovertible fact.
Unfortunately, my earlier remarks appear to have been removed, but I wrote of "discerning a Satanist undercurrent"; however, I didn't present this as a definitive theory.
your right, this show about hats is totally inspired by my liege, the Prince of Hell, and the Master of Darkness, Satan. I live in So Cal and the power of our Dark Lord is very strong here.
Thank you so much, SuperBravoOne. This is the kind of solid, evidenced-based backing I was hoping for in support of my admittedly somewhat bold and contentious hypothesis.
Looks like they filmed the park scenes at Six Flags over Texas

Once you get past the weird environs, wild colors and wacky characters, what are you left with? Typical Krofft crap.
