Satanism was/is very big in Southern California, and there were any number of shows (for example Mr Ed, The Addams Family, The Munsters) that had an occult premise.

Clearly not by a close and careful reading of what I originally wrote. I was at pains to offer the Satanic interpretation of Lidsville (and, by implication, other Krofft series) as a hypothesis, not to assert it as an incontrovertible fact.

Unfortunately, my earlier remarks appear to have been removed, but I wrote of "discerning a Satanist undercurrent"; however, I didn't present this as a definitive theory.
