  • Well, I'm pro 12 step and I'm trying to give this guy my ear. I think he's smart and onto something. But I first want to clear this up for him and those who follow him; there is a faction of folks in A.A. who agree that the word "disease" is incorrect... though it does have physical and documentable and chronic aspects. There really is a person identifyable as "alcoholic". It just so happens Jews, Italians, and Chinese folks have been around booze so long, their over 10% have long died off.

  • I agree 100%. If you believe you are powerless than there's your excuse for their next drunk.Relapse is part of recovery right.I hold no ill will towards these AA "Old Timers"as this is what has been beat in their heads forever. But telling myself I'm powerless ans that the only way I can stay drink-free is by a disguised religion doesn't sit well with me.Why do they hide the religion,it has nothing to do with God but the 12 steps refer to a God as you understand HIM constantly.WHY LIE?

  • Stanton Peele rocks. AA and all the other 12 step cults are for the real douchebags.

  • This guy talks much - says little - total DB. SUCK IT

  • I didn't quite grasp this (I was half listening, but I'll watch it again) but I will say that I believe in the power of the individual, but not control of that power. We are powerful in the same way that a machine gun is powerful. It creatre a great disturbance, but cannot control how, or if, it goes about doing so.

  • At first, I found this man's videos annoying, but (using his words) the bull-crap of his coercive philosophy, bad logic and lies are more than annoying.

Jewish people do not experience loss of control with alcohol? Really.

Again, we go to the non-existent separation of church and state found nowhere in our Constitution. Congress shall make no law restricting the free exercise of religion, yet the secular humanists would brook no faith but their own and forbid any God in the public square.

  • Scary - somebody notify the FBI!

  • I nearly went to work for the heir to one of the most prominent Jewish families in the world - he doesn't drink because he does not control it well. And if you go to a casino, another area for addiction, there are Chinese people everywhere and some of them lose control. I have known Jewish and Japanese problem drinkers. Perhaps Mr Peele is generalising.

  • No Peele was just flapping his gums!

  • He's exactly right

  • Educate yourself over alcohol effects to fetuses, and newborns! Jews have lose of control, as much as any other group. AA is an answer for millions,. there is even AA in Saudia Arabia, where alcohol is forbidden for Muslums to drink. Believe me they drink!

  • "Jews have lose of control, as much as any other group."

    HOW DARE YOU!!!

  • Wow, this guy is GREAT! He's RIGHT!

If I say to someone 'You have an alcohol problem and you are POWERLESS to deal with it!" what the fuck kind of therapy is that??

How about "You have a problem with alcohol, but you are tremendously strong and can overcome it." A little better, huh???

I guess people love to play the victim.

  • You have done a great series of vids. I cant understand how your legal crowd there cant see it is outdated crap. If the Catholic church started treating cancer the same way that they did in 1935 and claimed that god will fix it, we would shut them down wouldnt we.

  • you look like the biggest lackey loser drunk i have seen. go get butts from skid row con

  • More from NIH: "We find that young adults comprise the largest group of alcoholics in this country, and nearly 20 percent of alcoholics are highly functional and well-educated with good incomes. More than half of the alcoholics in the United States have no multigenerational family history of the disease, suggesting that their form of alcoholism was unlikely to have genetic causes."

  • Obviously, the man does not understand the disease concept of alcoholism. Best for one who is interested in this to visit the NIH site or National Institute on Alcoholism for a rational explanation. If one had cancer to admit there was no disease would be deadly. Same for alcoholism

  • From NIH News June 28, 2007, I quote: "Our findings should help dispel the popular notion of the 'typical alcoholic,'" notes first author Howard B. Moss, M.D., NIAAA Associate Director for Clinical and Translational Research.

  • Journal of Nuclear Medicine April 1, 2008, "Receptor Binding + Predisposition to Alcoholism" studies confirm DSM 1V definition of alcoholism.

  • More from NIH: "Clinicians have long recognized diverse manifestations of alcoholism," adds NIAAA Director Ting-Kai Li, M.D, "and researchers have tried to understand why some alcoholics improve with specific medications and psychotherapies while others do not. The classification system described in this study will have broad application in both clinical and research settings." A report of the study is now available online in the journal Drug and Alcohol Dependence.

  • Therefore, I think what they are saying is, AA is NOT necessarily the DEFINITIVE answer.

  • @TedinCorrales How very 12 Steps of you. Rejection of the disease model/concept is not simply "not understand(ing)", but rather the entire point of this more complex understanding towards treatment and approach.

  • Go to New York city, and see how many Jews there are in AA.

  • there are no jews in aa as aa is for dummies
