you know to separate the thread at the beginning, if you just get the end of one strand and hold the whole lot with your tumb and forefinger and pull the single one you want it will slide out really quickly from the rest and not knot.
Really nice method! I'm just a newbie to cross stitching but this is nice, you know that the thread is secure in the back. Also saves a bit on thread because you don't have to leave a tail in the when you begin your new thread :P
@readwriteread I think it saves on floss because you're only using one thread, as opposed to two threads at once. But I guess it depends on how you see it.
@TheArtsyfartsy123 lol, i agree with you, youre not wasting thread at the beginning only the bit at the end that you tuck under the finished stitches.
I am going to do some beading in my cross-stitch work. Could you show me your technique? Always looking for tips & techniques - especially FAST TECHNIQUES! Trying to start a cross-stitch stitch along starting September. ME & another lady are doing Mirabilia charts. Would you like to join us?
@Catbird2011 I've never done beading before! :P I suppose I can give it a try and make a video next week? How do you like it? (I'm fairly new at the cross-stitching game besides the basics)...
Mirabilia charts - interesting! Do you ladies Skype while cross-stitching?
@mommynitemare No problem! I found this technique in a magazine and had no idea it existed! I always just held about an inch of thread in behind (with double strands) and let go after a couple cross-stitches! :)

Your really not saving money - ur using one string - double the length - either way it's the same amount of floss and money
