  • WoW nice kind of start out like a Beach Boys song off the old Smile LP and the Ending sounds like The Beatle ending of Sergeant Pepper's Album

  • The frequency range of the audio codec of youtube is even inferior to the cd. Anyway those higher frequencies really don't matter because we can't hear them. Vinyl does have mechanical noise and imperfections of the vinyl that change the sound in a good way. Some cd versions do suck but that is only because they were poorly mixed.

  • @dannyskater indeed, mastering is everything as far as CD is concerned. I don't prefer vinyl over Cd, I just want my Cds beautifully mastered and not brickwalled, but that's not "fashionable", hence my return to vinyl.

Having said that, these were done as needledrops simply because that has to be preferential to using a camera mic and trying to record vinyl in an ambient setting, like so many do on Youtube.

  • @DBZ5371 I like the vinyl sound unfortunately the albums I like are expensive and hard to find in vinyl nowadays =/. I just wanted to make a regard about the higher frequencies because there is a lot of misinformation regarding that subject. I support what you did, its a very good way of preserving the vinyl sound without subjecting the record to wear each time you want to hear it. It was not my intention to criticize. I do appreciate the video.

  • @dannyskater No probs, I appreciate the info ('cos you know I know nothing about MP3s and stuff :) ). I didn't take it a criticism..just observations/comments on what you hear and see on the 'Tube. Any friend of vinyl is a friend of mine. (so long as you don't call 'em "vinyls") ha ha.

  • Not only does the pm 15 sound great. It looks like a classic. So i guess you would reccomend?

  • @MultiTroy1979 Oh yes. The reasons I bought this instead of a Pearl/Lite was simply for cosmetic reasons..I want Champagne silver to match my other equipment. But, I was also interested in the phono stage, which is the same one as the PM-11 Amp..so a lot of that technology trickled down into the PM-15. These Reference series are all good, it's just a better of one being a little more expensive (and better sounding) than the others. There are new Limited Editions of the SA-15 and PM-15 now too,

  • @MultiTroy1979 Sorry that should have said "it's just a matter of one being a little more expensive (and better sounding).

It did sound a little digital straight out of the box, my wife said the LP I was playing sounded like a CD (what an insult), but after 30 hours it settled in nicely and you're right, it looks cool.

  • awsome set up!Was thinking of puschasing the pm15. Love marantz equipment.

  • @MultiTroy1979 Yeah, I'm enjoying it. I need a SA-15 Cd player to finish it off and replace the CD6000OSE KI, but I can't justify it as the KI Sig Cd sounds better than ever.:)

  • Thank you Dr. I'm really pleased with it and have another 300 Lps in storage, which I'll be bringing home shortly. Mainly, Deep Purple/Rainbow/ Gillan/Whitesnake/Trapeze/Bolin/Capt Beyond etc.

  • Jukeboxfun couldn't have said it better. Nothing transfers sound better than vinyl.

For me, it's analog for life!

  • outstanding

  • Found the link for this on audiokarma. Awesome setup!

  • @freakygeek90 many thanks for the kind words.
