Good explanations but I don't see why you riffle the cards into a V-shape. If you riffle them straight, there's almost no change of grip from the riffle to the bridge: you just move your index fingers from its bent position providing pressure in the riffle to an ordinary grip of the bottom of the cards like your middle and ring fingers. That's much simpler than your pivot-square-regrip manoeuvre and it means that you can use essentially the same technique whether you have a table or not.
