The US FY11 budget was released to the press yesterday and contained a document titled "Aircraft Investment Plan FY11-FY40".
The thing of interest in the document is that US plans to start development of a fighter (F-X) to supercede the F-22's in 2020 with production starting in 2025.
That's great news, maybe they'll put the money in education instead of paying me to kill people.

Actually in 10 years US will have a LOT more capacity than they do now.
Total Fighter/Attack aicraft will be reduced from 3200 to 2900. But...by then almost half of those will be F35's which are 4-8 times more effective than any Gen 4 aircraft.
UCAV's and UAV's will be increased from 50 to 450 units.
Combine this increase in number of 150 aircraft with ever improving sensor and missile technology and 2020's USAF will be more than 3 times more powerful than it is now.
And then there's the F-X program in 2020. PAK FA won't have even matured to the level of the F-22 by that stage.
Given the leap in capability between the F-15 to the F-22, the F-X programme will really be something to behold.
I can't wait to come back here and watch the tears when there have only been 40 PAK FA's built and the F-X has its first hypersonic flight.....right across Russia in 10 minutes.

catching up with stealth technology aircraft is a big challenge for Russia, with not much stealth tech to start from. T-50s less stealth capability F-22 still is ahead of the game.

Actually in 10 years US will have a LOT more capacity than they do now.
Total Fighter/Attack aicraft will be reduced from 3200 to 2900. But...by then almost half of those will be F35's which are 4-8 times more effective than any Gen 4 aircraft.
UCAV's and UAV's will be increased from 50 to 450 units.
Combine this increase in number of 150 aircraft with ever improving sensor and missile technology and 2020's USAF will be more than 3 times more powerful than it is now.

Given the leap in capability between the F-15 to the F-22, the F-X programme will really be something to behold.

Only uniformed American idiots will say that this design was stolen from Lockheed or is a copy of the F-22. While the design may look similar the aerodynamic capabilities of the T-50 airframe design is completely different from the F-22. If you idiots want to talk about copying just research the history of the F-35 JSF and see where the original inspiration for it came from, you would be surprised to know it came from the Yakolev Design Bureau a Russian aircraft design company.

im sorry to say Teslagenius... the SU-30s sold to algeria was being sent back due to downgraded manufacturing quality. same goes with india where 100+ SU-30s were also sold... i do suspect T-50 PAK FA given that same way to its next buyers because russia dont have enough new hightech manufacturing facilities... i would hope they dont mess up this plane.

It was MIG29 that were sent back NOT for"downgraded manufacturing quality" but be cause some parts were used from stock reserve and not newly manufactured as it was asked in contract
(some contractors who did that were punished)
ALL THOSE PLANES were REPLACED by SU-30 planes so you see Algeria does NOT have problem with Russian quality!

The russian YAK 141 design, test data was bought by Lockheed Martin. Some Engineers have been working on F-35 for a long time in USA... this is a fact. But, that does NOT take away the work of USA contribution and say F35 is Russian. That would be worng again. F-35 is very American and PAK FA is Russian, period. Now enjoy!

F-35s body is from yak 141 yet the stealth characteristics, the newest high tech gadgets and the shape of F-35 compared to yak 141 is way sexier and better. the spread of its wings and bulky body is proof F-35 is a better architectural mutation from yak 141s slim and thin body frame and wing span. at the same time russias newest plane resembles F-22 as well, though with many differing parts.

Our jets are Mig, Russian made. I am not whining about anything, I was pointing out where Russians have their jet technology from. I never said that Russians are bad, I just said that they took most German scientists and their work.
The problem is that if us, Romanians would not have turned against Nazi Germany, Russia would have lost the war. As long as we fought, Russia was overwhelmed. When we switched sides, Germany was overwhelmed. I consider that we kicked both Nazi and Russian ass.
