  • Heaven to my ears.

  • Fred Parris still sounds good for his age, but the others sound a bit shaky... =P And the audience have obviously aged too xD

  • Great!!!

  • WOW! THEY STILL GOT IT.

  • it's great! plus also funny how if you see the youtube video of them singing in front of an all white audience in the 50's, not one person was even nodding a head or tapping a finger. Now look! I wish the younger generation found it cool to bring this style of singing back!!

  • Makes you wonder if these are the same people from back then...

  • love it

  • i love this you cant beat it i dont care what u say

  • All those in the audiance, they have seen them when they first came to light in the Brooklyn Paramont like I did. All those groups were great

  • I saw this PBS special...the Satins are so debonaire; they've aged like a fine Bordeoux...

I'd give my left nut to have been at this concert!

  • Fred Paris and the Satins sound as good today as they did when they first recorded In the Still of the Night in the basement of St. Bernadette's Church in New Haven, CT. This group has been my favorite local group and they still perform at free concerts on the East Haven, CT Green during the summer months.

  • You're so right Tracyhillroad...I live in Darien, CT and remember this song like it was yesterday. They still sound GREAT!!!

  • I guess there are a lot of here in CT that still enjoy the music and sounds of Fred and the Satins You should try to attend their concerts on the East Haven Green next summer. I am sure you would truly enjoy seeing and hearing them there. AWESOME!

  • To Christian06820 - my last comment was for you. If you are a true doo-wop fan like me, you may want to check out attending concerts at Southern CT State University in New Haven. The college hosts an oldies show once or twice a year. I have also attended shows at Chevrolet Theater in Wallingford and a great show at Mohegan Sun hosted by Bowzer. Check them out.

  • Thank you, tracyhillroad - I will definitely look out for it next summer. I LOVE Doo Wop!...and this song is such a classic. Great melody, harmony and lyrics - it just makes you feel good!

    Christian

  • when a person does something in excellent, later ir bcomes an icon of history. This piece is the best witness, at the end you see that everyone stand up to appreciate and giv their token of gratitude...wow this is music...

  • Well said

  • simply amazing. goosebumps of course because this music is endlessly beautiful. =)

  • I saw this last night! It was awsome!

  • One of my 50's fav's, now being used for the Dreams ad on Tv.My Dad was a rockerbilly and my Mum a T'bird and i used to love watching them rock n roll at the clubs he used to sling her everywhere lol.

  • doowop forever from spain

  • I was only 8 years old when this song was recorded, but I feel in love with it when I heard it at age 12. It was 12 years ago, that I heard it again with my new husband, and this song is now "our song". Thank you so very much - they don't write and records songs like this. Even years later with older voices, it is still great.

  • my hubby loves this song, as a survivor of brain cancer and a stroke he has great difficulty remembering things, but this song has stuck in his mind and he loves to sing along.

  • thats amazing Julie! It amazes me how people remember such odd things after such issues. You are a great lady for sticking with him <3

  • This makes me want to cry...in a good way of course. I just love this music..and I'm only 27!

  • I'm 23 and this song gives me chills everytime I hear it...It's just so great!

  • I'm only 17 and i respect these songs. And I also get goosebumps when i hear this song. Its just a magnificent song.

  • that's awesome we need more and more teens to realize how AWESOME this type of music is!

  • Yes! It really touches me to see that so many younger people are finding these great songs and are realizing that they are so much better than the junk we got these day's!!

  • Beautiful music!!!!

  • A major moment in pop culture. written in a church basement by the lead singer in 1954. Greatest song of the fifties period

  • Priceless.....waiting for Nov.......

  • I agree...the best doo wop song ever!!!!

  • when was this recorded? =)

    <3 this song

  • Just plain awesome.........

  • Not only is this the greatest of all doo wop songs but it has often been called "The National Anthem of Doo Wop" and like kels3884 posted, I too am thankful for being there when it, and all the other great doo wop artists were new. I was very fortunate to see so many of then, live, at the Alan Freed Shows at the Brooklyn Paramount Theater in New York. Nothing can ever replace the era of doo wop and the music of the 50s.

  • I envy you. That is, if you tell the truth.

  • still the same great voice :)

  • The greatest song of the Doo Wop genre, done as it can ONLY be done! It doesn't get any better. There ought to be a law against anyone else singing this classic. I'm thankful I was around when it was new, and now with a new generation hearing and loving it.

  • still a master piece!

  • love it love it

we used to sing this song in my dads garage with my family and friends also have a few beers

today-everybody sings oldies at all parties

    mahalo(thankyou) and aloooooha!

    keiki (debbie)

  • I wish I was born in the 50s ...

  • tell me about it... i like doo wop much more than modern music, and I'm 15

  • They never lost their cool!

  • This song never fails to bring tears to my eyes. Fred Parris still has it. One of the greatest of all doo wop songs. Oh, the memories!!!!!

  • This guy's voice has stayed pristine

  • This song never grows old. And Fred's ageing well too.

  • Fred, You are the BEST..

  • This group still has it. This looks like it's from a PBS special of one of their Doo-Wop fund raisings. I try to NEVER miss one of them and all of these old groups still sound fantastic. Back then people really had talent and could actually carry a tune. One of the best of all time. Thanks for posting.

  • good song.. very good song.

  • fantastic!!

  • There are some songs that you never get tired of listening to ...this one is at the top of the list !

  • Great song and they still sound good!

  • i'm from the new haven area and had played in a band in the 60s. we too loved that beautiful old school harmony. our band had the please of backing Fredy Paris in 1968 in a small town in connecticut. He re-released IN THE STILL OF THE NIGHT in the 60s with a diffrent tempo. does anyone remember that.

    keep that sound alive
