he didn't call it, he was taunting the cubs bench( which is just as good as calling it...) just because he didn't call it doesn't mean he wasn't the greatest, cause he was
i agre and i have the ball that was hit by him because my great grandpa caught the ball who ever subscribes me gets it free it will come in a pacage!!!!
He's pointing to a Cubs coach or player down the THIRD base line, or at the far end of the Cubs' dugout. The Cubs were notoriously filthy bench jockeys ( as were the Yanks,) and were riding Ruth like a mule. Plus: No way Charlie Root would have not put one in Ruth's ear the next at bat if he pointed to the outfield, or to Root. Nice folklore, but Gehrig's the man in the '32 Series. HIS was the amazing performance for the ages!
I've heard that the pitcher was yelling and gesturing at him, so some say he was pointing at the pitcher and yelling then hit the home run..so i think he did not call the shot..but maybe i'm wrong? who knows?
i have head that he was pointing at the dug out say two stirkes. Ruth never puts his fingers up his hand stays level. Now if i am telling the opposing team i had 2 strikes then wouldn't i put my hand the air? also i have heard well he was arguing with the pitcher. But every report i have heard about that day is that the crowd was so loud the infielders couldn't even hear each other. so how could he be? so these two guys could hear each other when others couldn't? he called it
So you're a twat?

I think he was pointing at whoever he was arguing with. From this angle, it appears to be either the third baseman or shortstop. Just my opinion.
cazgrad1234 1 year ago
@cazgrad1234 possibly but the only person he was arguing with at the moment was the pitcher Charlie Root
