  • its actually an old martial arts technique. Its good for 2 reasons:

    1) It helps you breath out faster, and exhaling is key, if you hold your breath during bench, you will pass out!

    2) It helps you mentally push harder

Others do it for these reasons:

    1) To make other people look at them

2 Because they think it makes them look tougher

Personally i just breathe out, i only tend to grunt on my last reps pushing heavy.

  • Grunting is fine if you're trying to squeeze out the last few reps or working with really heavy weight. But grunting with light weight is just habit I think. Either way, it doesn't bother me.

  • You're allowed to grunt only if you're doing a PR. Then you can pat yourself on the pack.

  • The original grunter has tiny legs. He should be doing some grunting in the squat rack.

  • i dont mind grunts, but the other day some dude was moaning while doing some flat bench flies, i was trying not to laugh

  • LMAO!!!

  • fkn deltoids!

  • Lmao grunt talk

  • LOL... I'm not going to lie, I grunt a little when I do power cleans. The bar bashing me in the chest does not help. :D But I also lift @ home.

  • DID HE SAY " WHIITE BOYYY " at 0:30 ?? LOL!

  • FUCKN PUMPED!

  • like dwarfs in wife beaters?

  • That is probably how Terry Crews grunts while working out xD

  • It's the Tim Taylor toolman workout video

    rrrrrrrrr-uh

  • I had a grunter at my gym once. And after he put the weight down he looked at us all and said "Can you feel it Man? Can you feel it?" I looked at him and said "Don't you Dare say intensity"

  • strong black genetics

  • who give a fuck you grunt your working out.. im going to opening a gym for only grunter and if your not grunting at my gym that means your not getting a good work out

  • grunting while doing something worthwhile is one thing. But if you are making all this ridiculous noise, honestly? You're doing too much. Either do lower weights and more reps, or get a spotter.

  • grunting is normal people. Just ask professional weight lifters and tennis players

  • why do you guys care if people grunt at the gym?

  • who the fuck cares people grunt to take the pain away and help them push through the excercise and if you say you never grunted yeah a cars gonna hit you one day lying pussy

  • grunting and yelling has been proven to help you boost yourself to lift more weight, thats why at crossfit (a real fucking gym) thats one of the things they encourage you to do

  • Sounds like he's taking it in the ass rofl

  • You guys are fuckin funny. What did the grunter say at the half way point? Sounded like "baby weeenneeeee"

  • @man2joe "baby weight"

  • dude I go to that gym I gotta record it

  • this was a joke they were all in on it so stop bitchen

  • Grunting isn't showing off its trying to get work done, that guy mighta just ripped out a set of 20 squats before doin those shrugs.

  • If you lift heavy weights you will grunt, maybe not as loud as that guy but you will grunt to breath it out... "Lunk Alarm?"

  • No kidding, who the hell would want the sound of hard work and determination and sacrifice at the gym?? everyone knows its a place to get toned and use the elliptical machine.

  • "BABY WEEEIIIGHT!" Other black guy.. "THREE TIMES FIVE!!!"

  • onnneee mooreeeee

  • Lesson learned, the black guy who is grunting is 2x better looking than the pussy white kid being quiet

  • grunting while shrugging is funny noone does that but grunting while going for 280kg on squat noone complains when i growl on the way back up at rep 3 i get more pumped each set massive hormone release

  • sounds like he needs some lube

someone having trouble fittin that shit in

  • I grunt because my workouts are short and intense (like 15-20) with very little rest. It gets hard and painful and really its just a natural reaction.

  • I grunt because the weights are heavy -_- if you're not grunting, life more you pussy!

  • He must have a sound proof toilet.

  • @ 16 seconds lmao!! & 22 seconds "keep em goin"

  • failed reps at the gym is usually caused by insufficient yelling

  • I don't mind grunting, but if it is obsessively loud they are usually just showing off

  • they grunt because you try deadlifting more than twice your bodyweight without a sound

  • Comment removed

  • if u have to ask why people do it, ull never understand. (and be smaller and weaker for it.)

  • Grunting out loud just means that that person is trying harder than you are.

  • @IlDucaDiTaranto no it just means you're making an ass out of yourself

  • @SladesGirl If being serious about something to where you don't care what other people think...is making an ass out of my self??? I'd rather be an ass. It looks like the guy is doing more working out than complaining. Good for him.

  • @IlDucaDiTaranto ya ok good for u overly confident weight lifting losers.

  • @SladesGirl I'm no confident weight lifter, I actually suck at it; however, I don't want to cheat myself of trying my hardest for fear that I may offend someone who can hear me trying.

  • .....Man.....what the fuck is wrong with people.....grunting doesn't mean showing off or anything....its a need to grunt...people who don't grunt never achieve their fullest.

  • the trainers use to forbid me to grund when squatting heavy...I dont give a fuck lol

  • I saw a girl a couple of days ago at the gym and see was seriously screaming and grunting like him, haha

  • sadly professional body builders grunt and anger is the best workout booster.

  • @iamBIIZARRE the truth its all about getting the testosterone going

  • 0:15 e wee weeee

  • that guys got amazing delts

  • when i do interval sprints on a rower i sound like im going into labour or having a wank or summat... since i started pushing myself to the oxygen threshold... the breaths just get ..loud.. im very concious of it but when im in that pain zone there aint much else to care about,

  • If somebody grunts on every rep, yeah that's annoying. On a really heavy set, though, when I push through that last impossible rep when I'm already at failure, some sound comes out of my throat whether I want it to or not. If someone grunts only once or twice on a set, don't be a hater. Just means he's working hard.

  • hahdoooken !

  • Love it, Indeed why do people grunt loud? It's as if to say.."Look at me me me me me"

  • Jimmy Struthers doesn't grunt therefore I don't.

  • hahahahahahhaa

  • that nigga got his set in took it to the max wooooo grunt mutha fucka grunt

  • if u were fighting for your life and had to push or pull to save yourself id bet you would grunt as well. if i could be yoked like this guy id grunt all day. thumbs up for grunting

  • @s0ldier898 Maybe. However, hearing someone else grunt throws me off focus, and instead of pushing the weight, I'm thinking about the asshole yelling. A common theme is the guys who yell like this are the kind of guys who slam and drop the weight also. It's common courtesy. If you're in a life or death, scream all you want, but have some respect for everyone else when at the gym.

  • @SardikKadronas i didnt know people workout with a ipod i never hear anyone grunt cause im to busy into my workout and music to notice

  • @s0ldier898 I don't blare my iPod because my gym is normally pretty quiet. I'm not very big and I'm one of the biggest normally. Joe Dumbass who comes in and thinks his 1/4 curls require him to scream is quickly heard by everyone.

  • @s0ldier898 but some take it too fr like grunting so loud the entire gym can hear u an grunt just to get attention

  • @s0ldier898 dude.... he's shrugging 70s... no grunting should be needed

  • @bgjon87 the hell it shouldnt that guy probally doesnt even weigh 160 grunting means your pushen something heavy and 70s on a 160 guy is decent weight

  • @s0ldier898 You don't have to grunt on every rep, I can understand the last one.

  • @s0ldier898 Since this guy is making a comedy about it I'm assuming he hates grunters as much as anyone and is still "yoked"

  • @s0ldier898 I fucking scream at my last set.. if I want 8 reps.. i try 10 then scream like a bitch! it helps too!

  • @TheEpicShitz hell yeah dude i agree

  • @s0ldier898 this is considered screaming my friend xD. You don't need to yell at the top of your lungs to be able to max out

  • MEATHEADS!!!

  • I say the grunting is a part of a hard workout, if you don't make a sound your nor pushing your self to the limit. However, there is I time when you wast more energy on the grunting instead of just lifting the fucking weight.

  • LMAOO that sooo sounded like WHITTTEEEEE BOY

  • Funny!

On a serious note though.....If your not grunting, your not pushing hard enough.

  • lol I love this. I've seen a row of grunters before it was pretty funny. There's no need for grunting. I breathe very heavily when lifting heavy (to me) weights but have never felt the need to grunt.

  • look how ripped he is compared to you

    so you can stfu faggot

  • What about those fuckin faggots that wear beaters to attract attention? Put on a fuckin shirt nobody gives a shit about your biceps there is always someone bigger you douche fuck. I wanna take your ass on right now. Are you that goddamn self centered you can't fuckin wear proper clothes?

  • lmfao i love how you guys joined him in grunting

  • TSSSHHH TSSSSHHH

  • Very Very funny!!!!!!!!!!

  • you obviously dont train hard enough bitch.

  • Guy 1 oi, oi , uh uhh, ahh, ehh, ehh, ghuhh, uhh, baby weed!, uhh , uhh, uhh, can't find my weed!!, uhh , uhh, uhh, whhite boyyyy,

Guy 2 ahhh, ahhh, ahh, ahh, ahhh

Guy 3 geconthy, geconguoiii, yegahh, yegeehh.

  • @yellowcorba1 guy 3 says G-35 .. watch the other videos that's all he talks about :D

  • @yellowcorba1 lmfao

  • lol grunting i can put up with cause everyone does it but when i hear similar stuff to this i just ugh lol.

  • okay, thats complete bullshit, thats when u kno ur goin fuckin hard, the gym isnt a dam library, i fuckin yell my brains out especially when i bench, im not no bitch how the fuck can u not scream its ridiculous, at least grunting if not screaming

  • Obviously this grunting is taking the piss but in real life if you arent grunting or making a funny face on the last few reps you just arent working hard enough.

  • @GigityGigity90 couldnt agree any more with u

  • @GigityGigity90 i find it near impossible not to do so

  • @GigityGigity90 I don't think anyone is disagreeing with you

  • Chocolate rain?

  • hehhe

  • Grunting is a way of letting of some steam during a rep...I find it helpful in doing the last couple of reps of a set. If you honestly think people who grunt are trying to show off, please go die. It's not that at all.

  • @AGeekWithAShotgun lol this is screaming not grunting haha. grunting is fine but screaming is just annoying.

  • @yellowcorba1 Exactly! well said.

  • lol 00:01 i love that sound.

  • no point in screaming if you dont drop your weights too

  • The black dude had skinny arse legs!!!

  • they should start a scremo band

  • closed my eyes.... gay porn wooooo

  • @hashimgas use half the weight i do and see what happens ,

  • @dutchstrongman oh wow clicked on wrong person , my bad

  • Leonidas chilling in the background.

  • always one of those assholes at every gym ,, and ive been to gyms all over the place

  • Who cares if u grunt and scream it just means ur testosterone is high and it gives u a motivation to push harder. You cant scream and grunt because ur test is so low from doing pussy ass workouts and u have a small penis.

  • @iSK8FrEaK7777 Any lady can grunt and scream. I don't grunt and I regularly do three plates for reps I guess I'm a big pussy cause I don't grunt, huh?

  • @tim72184

    3 plates isnt even impressive....

  • There is what I call "real" or "controlled" grunting, and then there is the, "Hey look at me" grunting. I theink the latter is what this video is trying to point out.

  • What about the tiny little boys who wish they were big and have no idea what they are doing? Grunting during a intense lift actually helps bring more oxygen into your lungs....look it up. CHUMPS

  • I love when he screams "BABY WEED!"

  • Funny juiceheads.

  • This is hilarious!

  • i grunt at the gym because its difficult, difficult to keep control over calm quiet breathing

  • To be honest i couldnt give a fuck that i grunt at the gym, i dont do it too loud but when pushing out maxes or doing a heavy set i do tend to grunt pushing out the last few, dont really care, i dont mind if others do it either i think it helps motivate and pump your self up. When other people are doing it i find it makes it more of a gym environment anyway, its not normal to be pumping heavy weights in complete silence, fuck that

  • A REAL GYM WITH REAL MEN HAS SCREAMS AND PAIN AND BLOOOD ><

  • Comment removed

  • It's a sliding scale, the more weight the more loud exhortations allowed.

Who hates those "no grunting" gyms?

Everyone grunts every once in a while. If you don't, then it's call YOGA!

  • uh ya thats called putting in more effort then you

  • if you have ever taken an exercise to failure a day in your life you will understand why people scream. Plus it's hardcore which is good. Know what really makes me laugh instead though?? People who goto the gym and waste their time doing stupid exercises with weight that is clearly too light and they never ever make any progress. PLus I laugh at people that walk on the treadmill. Like literally walk. Top level fitness is about intensity. . (that's a period)

  • whats sad is that you're posting a video of this.

  • hahahah the white guy

  • And then they drop the weights to make sure they get everyone's attention so they see how much weight they were lifting.

  • @TheJoelD exactly lmfao i see dudes slam down 40s to look bad ass. its pathetic

  • IMO grunting is fine..and it does not have to be lightweight..lightweight for you may be something heavyweight for someone else..so STFU

  • If u use light weights then u dont need to utter a PEEP. But people like me and other real iron users have to exert a whole lungful of pain on those 120kg benchs and 30 kg curls.. especially last rep of the last set.. Don't be a skinny faggot and be afraid of real alpha males pl0x.

  • @VCRAGE no matter how hard you work out, if you got big muscles, regular people think you are on steroids.

  • @mrumsower True. Haters lol.

  • Why are people so bothered by grunting? it's funny when someone overdoes it for attention, but I've never been bothered by it. As long as they leave you alone who cares what other people do?

  • Grunting happens! And if your paying that much attention to other people then you shouldn't be in there... I'd rather grunt and get gains then to not and lose gains

  • -_-... people dont scream just to scream, we do it to push out the last few reps.

  • put your ipod on listen to your music and mind your own business like everybody else does. Sometimes grunting is part of lifting and growing. it's not necesary all the time but sometimes it is..

  • People can make as much noise as they want in the gym. I go to train and nothing else. So it doesn't bother me because I couldn't give two fucks about them.

  • If you close your eyes and play this vid, it sounds like someone is getting raped.

  • laughed my ass off

  • i think it's been proven to actually help some people , i don't care though. i go to workout not listen to someone moan really loud

  • This is the funniest shit ever needs to be longer hahahaha

  • this is worst when they grunt while only doing 80 on a lat pulldown.

  • hey! I do scream a little too! whats wrong with that? it helps me to focus on what I'm doing.

  • fucken hate pussies that go to the gym its a fucken gym not a fucking libary

  • At a real gym, grunting and screaming are not only tolerated but required.

  • buff urkle

  • Well it sounds stupid but as i'm getting to lift more weight i tend to make more noise, don't know what it is, your body has to produce more force in one second

  • It sounds like he is trying to take a dump!

  • I dunno, when I can lift that kind of weight, I'll let you know if I grunt or not

  • Congratulations, it's a boy....

  • grunting really helps when heavy lifting...especially when doing thrust/press....keeps you concentrated and helps you ignore the douchebags filming in the gym...

  • theres this guy at the gym i go to and he grunts with 15 pound weights

  • "Yeah I grunt when I get my swell on at the gym...bitches love my new haircut."

  • i scream like a bitch and always push myself past my limit. You pretty boys can stick to curling in the squat cage and making videos of it

  • 0:01 ya, and he will improve, maintain a healthier lifestyle, live longer and healthier lifestyle, continue to walk and do everyday tasks until he passes. While you eat pizza and put on nominal swelling and die when you 67 a fatt slob.

  • I just died laughing seriously! You guys are freaking hilarious! That's something I could see myself doing!

  • well if they are grunting and screaming surely their just pushing them selves through the pain barrier, better than the guy sitting with a tight tank top on curling 20s for the last half an hour whilst gazing in the mirror.

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOL I LOVE THIS VIDEO :D

  • Nothing wrong with grunting, as long as you are just screaming for no reason, one thing I do hate is when ppl drps their fuvking weight like when they are standing

  • sshhh you're scaring the chicks away

  • I find this video offensive, I find that grunting while lifting something extremely heavy can help me in my sets. No it doesn't mean we're acting tough when we grunt and scream, we're busting our ass getting results later in the month and also lifting big numbers. If we were to act tough we would be walking around the gym with ILS. So yea that's just my opinion.

  • Im not sure if this is a parody or not but screaming and grunting is VERY helpful if your lifting massive weights I wouldnt be suprised if those light weight lifters cant understand this, afterall most of them havent experienced true "killing" pressure.

  • when I lift weights... when it's a heavy weight... when I am about to lift it above my head... when I am just about to do it... when the adrenaline going through my whole body... and when I feel like I have an erupting volcano inside me... I scream... "DRAGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

  • I had to turn the volume down immediately for obvious reasons

  • its only funny when the person grunting doesnt look like a bodybuilder... because if he does than you cant really insult him because hes may more muscle-y than you

  • grunt scream what the fuck ever it helps me at the gym i let out my breath so i dont pop vanes with super heavy weights what the fuck you do if you are doing a 795 x 12 squat for real would you scream? or grunt? or if you are a powerlifter? you are going to bench 1000 pounds would you amp yourself up or what? the? fuck? you? gonna? do?

  • I was getting ready to dislike the shit out of this video, on account of the psychological association of grunts and perceived exertion...then the token guy in the back started nodding approval...then the rest joined...now i find myself liking the shit out of this video and laughing my ass off. well played dand902

  • i just ignore the grunters and the screamers
