  • It is widely accepted that Reform "Judaism" is not Judaism. Though many or most of its current adherents are probably Jews al pe halacha.

The problems with the Reform movement is that they, in their official hashkafa, dont believe in the divinity of Torah, reject "bshita" the Talmud and all Torah (Oral Law).

The ideas of the Reform "movement" (rather stagnation) have despoiled and befouled the Jewish people, altered the Jewish mindset, and created a chasm between Jewish people and their Torah.

  • I so want to be Jewish

  • Divisiveness amongst Jews only gives fuel to those who consider Jews 'other' and a threat.

  • reform judaism is great of north america and europe. ho reform!!!!!!!!.

  • What is today being marketed as "true Judaism" is a kind of Polish ghetto Orthodoxy from the 18th century. Halacha has evolved numerous times during the diaspora. The Torah doesn't change but the men who live and die, discuss and interprete it live in times that change a lot. Compare for example Western Europe or Afganistan. This is why I left Orthodoxy.

  • Amen. (To chatneur73)

  • Orthodoxy with its divisive values from the Middle Ages are on the root of brother-hate within the Jewish people.

  • TORAH NEVER CHANGES!!!

Every generation had its own "modern times" and True Judaism has always lived and flourished, and still exists UNCHANGED.

It is stupid for reformies and conservatives to say "this day and age we neen such and such" for if this is the case, 1000 years ago was once modern, yet Torah never changed.

  • Torah may never change, but the Mishnah has tried to change it.

  • Hi friend :)

I guess we heard diff things

The Written Torah,(5 books of Moshe) and Oral Torah(Gemorah & Mishna) go hand in hand. The Written one says what to do and the Oral one says how to do it. It's called oral b/c it was passed down orally until it was printed. Both the Written and Oral were given to Moshe and the Jewish people by Hashem. The sages who interpreted the laws tried to do so according to G-d's will. Yes they had diff viewpoints, but each one seeks G-d's desire, not man's

  • I don't believe that the Oral Laws existed in the time of Moses, nor believe they agree wholly with the Torah. I know the Mishnah is an evil that has stained Jews for centuries.

  • The Mishnah has many topics. The book Ethics of the Fathers is in there. It has lessons like: "Learn, serve G-d and do acts of kindness" and it explains how to do that.

Moshe was given both the Written and Oral Law from Hashem - the Written one says ie, keep shabbos, the Oral one says how to do it. He taught it to the people who passed it down etc. Some laws were very clear, other laws were debated. They discussed it according to what G-d wants. I'll send more info to you privately

  • Mishna IS Torah.

Learn what you are talking about before you say something so "assertive".

  • The Torah =/= the "Oral Torah." I can see why that would confuse you.

  • You are wrong.

Moses recieved the Oral Torah (i.e. teachings that define what the torah was speaking about) from G-d at sinai.

He passed it to Joshua. he passed it to the anshei knesses hagdolah, and it was written after the second destruction. And its proven that the "rabinnic" traditions predate the era of Mishnah, and was the mainstream practice of the day.

I dont think you know what you are talking about.

Torah means "Law" the term means the 5 books of Moses, and also all holy LAWs

  • Reform broke away from Torah Judaism, we want our brothers and sisters to come back because we care. - I pray for the Jewish people to be united in Torah

  • There's nothing wrong with the Torah; the problem is who interpretes it and how. If 'true' Judaism is to force my wife to wear a wig and forbid my daughters to sing because some frum guy could have a hard-on because of 'kol isha' then isn't it better to become an honest Muslim and move to Afganistan?

  • Chanteur, a married woman wears wig b/c her real hair is only for her husband. I things that's special.

The reason a woman can't sing and dance in front of men is for her benifit and dignity. But if she wants, she can sing and dance with girlfriends, which I have done. We are not like muslims who are completly covered. We wear modest yet stylish clothing. It's nice because all around focus on Us and not our body.

  • Shalom Aleckum to you and family. I am a former yehudi and now muslim.Muslim woman are stylish as well and wear fashionable hijabs. I used to be a hassadic yehudi and our woman wore head scarves just like muslim woman and the early yehudi communities, this wig nonsense is innovation which came centuries later.what do you think wearing tight jeans and a wig is modest.and muslim and yehudi woman dont dance infront of men for modesty.

  • Someone gave you a thumbs down and I gave you a thumbs up. I may agree with Reform, but you speak from your heart and hope for the good of your people. I hope those feelings are spread to all. BTW, my great-great-great-great grandfather was Israel Jacobson, the father of the Reform movement.

  • thanks
