  • @bvwcad It's that he's sitting awkward instead of having fun in the "before" image. while there are not as many white people in jamaica, there are a few :) having one in the background partying would get rid of the undertones.

It's definitely not the worst ad I've ever seen, but it does give a few Unfortunate Implications- which is how I got here (tvtropes ate my brain :)

  • @AyriannahOllivandra - Or he is sitting among supporters from the team that is winning, which would be awkward. You're seeing what you want to see, not what the ad is portraying.

  • ...oh flamewars- how I love to hate them.

IMHO, the ad is racist- not because black people+fried chicken= racist, but because it's an "awkward situation", being the only white guy in a crowd, (and that the best solution is to feed the crowd instead of joining in the festivities like a normal human being at a fun event)

  • @AyriannahOllivandra - How is it racist to share a meal? How would you portray a crowd of Windies cricket supporters from Jamaica?

  • @Rouge Culture.ur "Dumb Ass" is excused. It isn't the "eating" of chicken which one finds offensive. It is the fact that the person offers "chicken" to stop people from making "Noise". The music being played is of significant Caribbean Heritage. Imagine if this ad were about the singing of the Australian; American or English anthem, and a person of a different ethnic origin were sitting in the midst and offered the singers something stereotypical and associative of their culture to shut them up?

  • @Shard2101 - What's wrong with sharing food? Do you think it would have been better if he had kept the food to himself? SMH

  • @bvwcad your ignorance astounds me my friend. In america. It is stereotypical that "Black People" Loooves their chicken! In fact! this observation has been at the heart of racist jokes. What I myself of Caribbean heritage finds wholly offensive is that, the only thing Caribbean have in common with most African Americans is the same skin colour as we (most of us) do not subscribe to gangster rap and the calling of each other "Niggas". This add lumps all "Black" people in a racial stereotype. smh

  • @Shard2101 - What does an Americans stereotype about Americans have to do with Aussies, Windies or cricket? You are the one connecting the American stereotype with the ad. The ad just shows cricket fans at a cricket match.

  • @bvwcad well two things my esteemed friend. One: KFC is American. And two: there is a transference of this "American Racial Stereotype" on people of Caribbean descent. The greatest points to be considered are these. Are you of Caribbean Heritage? Are you "Black"? And have been the subject of racial profiling? Well I can answer yes to all. I perceive this add to be blatantly disrespectful and the law in this country states that if a person perceives a situation as racist. Then it is!

  • @Shard2101 - i) KFC Australia is an independent Australian Corporation that franchises KFC products from YUM! Brands Inc. ii) There is no tranference of the stereotype.

If what you say is true, why is the West Indies crciket team can be sponsored by KFC? Surely the West Indies Cricket Board would not condone such an overt display of racial stereotyping? One idiots delusions does not make something racist. SMH

  • @bvwcad yes my friend. "one culturally ignorant" idiot's delusion comment against an entire diaspora who seem to take this ad as racially offensive should not count. I wholly agree with you and admire your courage in admitting that you are. Hats off to you.

  • @Shard2101 - Using idiots to back up your argument does not validate your opinion. It just proves you are one of the idiots.

When the WICB teamed up with KFC to play for the KFC Cup in the Caribbean between 2005-08 you must have been outraged. It's funny how the entire population of the Caribbean are wrong about this but you are so right.

  • @bvwcad I was inferring that you were the "idiot" son. I see my attempt at subtlety gently wafted past your cognitive dissonance.

  • @Tard2101 - Dad, is that you? Has anyone in the Caribbean objected to KFC's sponsorship of your national cricket team? It's almost as if you are an idiot who has no idea what you are talking about.

  • @bvwcad lol. £35,000 a year is working just fine for me thank you very much. Question? You know why kids like talking about toy's? Lemme answer. It's because they love toys.lol why ? dwl. are you so obsessed with Butts? Wow! Still trapped in the anal stage I see. smh. Wow! get help with your re-occurring nightmares and compulsions to intellectually masturbate with your superiors. You black person wanna be! Nigger!!! lol There! take comfort in the knowledge that you've been validated.

  • @Tard2101 - Yawn.

  • @Shard2101 bvwcad just proved you wrong, you don't like it so you call him ignorant and try to insult his intelligence and use racist comments along as well. Come on buddy... admit it, bvwcad was right.

  • see... yeah... to an australian, maybe this isn't racist... but to an american viewpoint, this kinda is... imagine if we had an ad saying "so easy, an aborigine can do it"?

  • @motomify - What do American stereotypes about other Americans have to do with anyone who isn't American?

  • @bvwcad actually, this isn't so much an american stereotype. the same view IS held in parts of australia. so... racist. this is kinda racist. sorry man, but just because you've never encountered it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

  • @motomify - Actually, this is an American stereotype about Americans. Can you use Google? What "view IS held in parts of Australia"? Is there a large African American population there as well? SMH

  • Everything is racist now.

  • People eating chicken...

I fail to see the problem?

  • Not racist, but the PC brigade would love to think that it is. It's about him having sat on the wrong side, so they're supporting a different team.

  • that is not racist

  • @Billiam96Billiam yes it is, there was lots of black people, and it was called BACKYARD chicken bucket... you get it?

  • @EddieAndTheBees - No it isn't, you don't get it.

  • @bvwcad ok, you tell me

  • @EddieAndTheBees - Aus were playing the Windies and KFC were the match sponsor.

  • racism is different around the world. as americans are racial stereotypes are not the same as australian racial stereotypes.

  • The whole racist thing is getting taken far too far.

  • It's not racist. Cricket is popular in Jamaica!

  • "oh shit i'm surrounded by black people"...

"best get the fried chicken out!"

  • @dannyst4r - What does an American stereotype have to do with Ausssies or Windies?

  • @BigJimUK Yeah, it's an American thing. I think the racism in America manifests as stereotyping of black people who eat unhealthily and cheaply because they are poor and don't cook for themselves (according to the racist stereotype) but probably relates to older stereotypes of black people as lazy. I'm not sure, it's a specific racist stereotype that we don't really have here in the UK (apart from possibly in some parts of London) so I don't fully understand it either.

  • This is an Australian ad, where the is not the US racist stereotype of black people liking fried chicken, is completely unknown.

  • @RogueCulture Sorry for being a dumbass Englishman here, but black people eating fried chicken is racist? Wtf?! Is there a stereotype about black people's taste buds or what?

  • @BigJimUK. The comment "ur "Dumb Ass" is excused" was meant for you. My apologies @RogueCulture

  • If it were made by an American, maybe, but in Australia, as the tensions are different, it's probably nothing. 'sides, there were white people in the crowd, if only a few

  • niggers love fried chicken, how is that racist?

    It's fact!

  • @hockeyplaya131 its a racsist stereotype. and yes i do this this commercial is very racsist

  • @InsomniacLegit - In America, how many Americans do you see in this ad? Not racist at all.

  • @bvwcad i don't get what you're trying to say.

  • @hockeyplaya131 yep hockeyplaya. we know you love your chicken. now go back to your corner and rock back and forth with your thumb in your mouth, and reminisce of how your dad and uncle used to rape you as a child. go on now lil nigger. let the mature adults handle this. there, there, lil nig.

  • @Shard2101 The irony here, is I'm white, you seem uneducated, your grammar skills are non existent, and your attitude needs some adjustment. You seem to be furiously butthurt.

It appears you are the nigger, both here, and in real life.

  • @hockeyplaya131 I know you're a white "nigger". Nigger! And its "Grammatical Skills" you mentally challenged red neck degenerate... lol I knew you'd recognise the irony. Btw, I've got a BA Hons in both psychology and Sociology. So grammar or not. I know your secret nigger!!! Go back to sucking your thumb and rocking back and forth. nigger... hahhahahaha!

  • @Shard2101 >sociology

How's that useless degree working for you?

Too retarded to get a masters in Engineering?

What are you, 12, using nigger as if it actually is an insult in this day and age? Grow up and come back with some original material you butthurt child.

  • @Tard2101 - Did you get your education at one of those online Universities where you can study in your pyjamas? I'd ask for a refund. Was that your ma? I think your meatloaf is ready.

  • lol a bit racist but not too bad

  • @1234rydog - Not even a bit.

  • i dont see this racist at all. so, if the only one sitting there is black and the whites are dancing around him, is that racist to the white people? seriously.

  • Black people eating chicken isn't racist.

  • See this is sad how much like America wer getting

I'm betting the 99% of the complains that took this ad off tv wer from white people

    Like uncle chopper says

    HARDEN THE FUCK AUSTRALIA

  • People calling this "Racist".are the "Racist" people. He is an Aussie Cricketer in the opisite Teams Supporter stand! WTF you people on about, its about sharing his Chicken with the other Team! Seriously get a life! Americans and Hitler Used that horrible word "Racist". They are probly at their Home ground: Sabina Park, Kingston. New Zealand, Sri lanka, Australia, England and all South America play in this leauge idiots!! Are you saying they are Racist too?

  • Funny how 5 seconds of meaningless TV can cause such outrage.

  • Yes and no. Everyone likes fried chicken so that would be a good way to get along with every group of people except vegans and PETA. But yeah they all happen to be black people and he gets fried chicken? An awkward situation? Kinda makes it sound racist doesn't it.

  • @Shvance44 - Not at all. American stereotypes do not apply to Aussies or Windies or cricket.

  • @Shvance44 the awkward situation is that he is in the opposing teams stand. The fried chicken stereotype is not valid because this is not America and the people in the ad are from the West Indies.

  • @ninjachick81 so ignorance is an excuse for offensive behaviour yes?

  • @Shard2101 your the one being ignorant if you think the commercia has anything to do with race.

  • @Shard2101 - Ignorance is seeing an Aussie among some Windies at a cricket match sponsored by KFC and then applying American stereotypes to them. Can you let me know how many Americans you can see portrayed in the ad?

  • im black and thats one of the funniest commercials ive seen

  • i thought it was funny as fuck hahaha

  • I'm glad you have to be an American to realize racism....\

  • a convict decendant feeding the oroginal landers!

  • @exxxtrmer two words. Sami marginalisation, these people are Caribbean not Indigenous Australians.

  • @irishgodfatherchris Well, but u got my point, didn't you? your mom did.

  • @exxxtrmer please keep to the topic and not get insulting or go off on tangents.

  • @irishgodfatherchris don't get iiritated!

  • @exxxtrmer Um I think you'll find they're West Indies. The white fellow, a supporter of the Australian cricket team has found himself amoungst a group of West Indies cricket team supporters.

  • Americans whites are becoming a minority jew plan is going good

(new world order - global goverment )

without race nation faith believe country you become just a tool.....nothing more.

  • @DJMikaelito What has the advert got to do with the US? It's a TV advert from Australia.

  • @SauronsEye

same goes to Australia in 2050 australian whites will be minority while asians will have the upper hand....you will work for 5$ a day and say thank you.

  • @DJMikaelito uh do the words that's illegal spring to mind, we take Workplace Relations and Fair Work Practices very seriously.

  • @irishgodfatherchris

what the hell has that to do with the thema of a racist getting a nobel ? that cunt pig should have been puted in jail not get a nobel price.

  • @DJMikaelito People calling this "Racist".are the "Racist" people.

  • yeah, ignorant to. excuse me while i go regurgitate.

  • Aussie cricket fans also often wear watermelons as helmets after they've eaten them.

    Please don't tell the Americans

  • ok im nigerian-australian n personally, i think americans should SHUT THE FUCK UP! we dont hav the black/fried chicken stereotype here in australia, YOU DO so stop enforcing ur dumb ass culture on ours (btw, if ur wondering WHY they chose the west indies, its caus besides india and britain we vs. them often in cricket, n win) so cheers fucktards :^)

  • @phoney98 well said.

  • or a nother idea weres the KKK wen u need them

  • Comment removed

  • @TH3SXICLAN Not cool. That's just wrong.

  • LOL! It's the sterotype that Blacks like fried chicken! (confert food)

  • @leadlegirl - That's an American stereotype about other Americans. Nothing to do with Aussies, Windies or cricket.

  • @bvwcad I know! Thats why it would make scence! XD (sorry about my spelling)

  • @leadlegirl - How does it make sense to apply an American stereotype to people who aren't American?

  • @bvwcad Sorry! I ment to say Wouldn't.

  • Even if this was racist (it isnt, its an australian in a crowd of opposition cricketers, not african americans) why are u generalising the entire population of a country as racist. That is the same kind of thinking AS RACISM AND XENEPOBIA! Furthermore, i think you will find almost ALL cultures are the way they are, in the position they are, because of some acts of violence and war. Get over it. Make up for it by being compassionate TODAY1! :D

  • how the fuck is this not racist???? not to mention the name crowd pleaser? Come on do you really you can deceive people??? I know for a fact Aussies are racist.

  • @alleycat86 - Lol, get an education.

  • man now thats racist as hell, fucking aussies

  • @alleycat86 - Idiot, that is all.

  • Comment removed

  • @alleycat86 lol you're racist by saying fucking aussies....you must be a real dip shit by saying some one is racist and ending the sentence by being racist.

  • Wow, how did the assholes who made this not see the racist angle? I aint black and I think it's glaringly fucking obvious. Why not just put some white people in the crowd. Idiots, holy shit...

  • @nicgoodwin1

Because in Australia there is no "all black people love chicken" stereotype. Only Americans would see this as racist.

  • @nicgoodwin1 because you know perfectly well my South African comrade that if more white people were in the ad it would not adequately represent the West Indies, if we did then next time when South Africa tours we'll only have white supporters in the ad even though they make up less than 15% of the population and are clearly not representative of the overall population

  • @nicgoodwin1 - You're not very familiar with Windies cricket fans from Jamaica are you?

  • ahhahahaha

  • Are you people joking when you ask "how is this racist?" The Great White Hunter tamed the angry black savages with a sacrificial offering of fried chicken, 'cause we all know that EVERY single black person can be driven to distraction by a big ol' bucket o' chicken, right? "Too easy." Fuck you!

  • @LeshaAnn fuck get over yourself, this was not made by an American company, it does not feature Americans and it certainly wasn't made for Americans

  • @LeshaAnn - "I've never let my SCHOOLING Interfere with my EDUCATION." Well you're spot on there. Fail.

  • @bvwcad That's a Mark Twain quote.

  • how is this racist???

  • they love their chicken thats for sure

  • Whoever deemed it as being racist, is a fucking racist.

  • Comment removed

  • @repeatedlyusedtool If you don't know the context, it does look pretty bad.

  • @squreshi10 if you don't know the context, you're a fucking idiot.

  • @repeatedlyusedtool Exactly, because the first thing that comes to mind is "RACISM!" It's just funny to others :)

  • i think that if you ever find yourself in that situation you are shit lucky to have a bowl of kfc with you

im not a rasist but kfc is like reverse kryptonite for them,

(i witnissed a black frend of mine eating up all MY! chicken at kfc when i went to the bath-room)

no hard feeling 4 u bro, btw

  • I HATE THE AUSSIES BECAUSE THEY OUTLAWED GUNS IN THEIR COUNTRY (yet still have massive crime) AND ARE MAJOR ANIMAL ACTIVISTS (Bitching out Japan for eating whales). That's it, the only reasons really, otherwise I'd move my ass over there like Quigley and love the country.

  • @HippieHunter357 yes were are major animal activists hence why the Green Party is a major political force, also guns are not illegal but heavily restricted and taxed also the crime is actually lower vs. our population then what it was when we brought in tighter gun laws. Look up Port Arthur Massacre and you'll see why

  • @HippieHunter357

Guns aren't outlawed in Australia. Where did you hear that? Only automatics, semi automatics and some rifles - something done with the approval of something like 94% of the population according to a poll at the time. Don't take the NRA's creative and selective look at figures as the gospel truth - Also dont try to superimpose America over Australia. The vast majority of Australian households never owned a gun in the first place.

  • @Nemspy Semi automatics and some rifles are outlawed in Australia. GUNS.

  • @Nemspy the NRA in the 90's after they published bullshit statistics which said that gun crime had gone up after the ban and that people were killed purely because of gun control laws were ordered to remove them from their Australian site and offer a retraction and an apology by the High Court

  • Holy fuck that's racist

  • Comment removed

  • I fucking hate Aussies..stuffed under the earth the way they are..I hate them cause of the plight of the Aborigines. Why does european culture do things like that to peaceful indigenous peoples, history is littered with stories like that. All conquering white people claiming land for themselves bringing infectious diseases or enslaving the people already living there, then sucking the natural wealth out of the land. then finally turning the people against each other while saying look at the savages

  • @bobeagle007 that's one of the most ignorant stupidest things I've ever heard

  • @operationmiller ..whats the problem mate?

  • @bobeagle007 The problem is that you seem to hate Australians for their treatment of the Aborigines. First thing you need to know is that it was Britain that basically did all the terrible things that you mention. I'm not saying that Australia is innocent, but a lot of countries have dark pasts and that's no reason to hate the modern people of that nation who are trying to right the wrongs.

Although I probably wouldn't have taken offence if you didn't say "I fucking hate Aussies".

  • @operationmiller ..yeah sorry mate..what i meant was i fucking hate most aussies..

skippy was kinda cool oh and croc dundee(the first ones the best and the second was ok) made me lol..

and that poor Irwin guy who was killed by a ray..i liked him alot..hey Rolf Harris..that dude can sure paint.Dame Edna creeps me out a bit..Do you remember that film called 'Walkabout'..Jenny Agutter!! phew what a babe, yeah shes english but nice scenery!

  • Comment removed

  • I don't hear any black people complain that this is racist, only whiny white American liberals and The Young Turks, who are whiny brown American liberals.

  • @operationmiller the word liberal to me to mean a person who's left-wing like myself doesn't seem to make sense because liberal comes from liberalism which the political centre

  • they say black people taste like chicken

  • Hey I LOVE chicken and I'm not black. I don't know what the fuss is about...Chicken iz toisty' moit'!

  • who the heck doesnt eat chiken?!?!?!!? besides vegetarians??!?!?!? every race from thier fine dining to home meals will almost always have a chicken dish!!!!!!

  • The packqage was cllaed the crowd pleaser, and thats what it did! Now if it had of been called the nigger pleaser then I would understand that people would find it racist.

  • Niggers these days think everything is racist

  • @codpro80 maybe its cause of assholes like u pulling out the N-Word,

  • bloody stereotypes. when does the world finally give up on the opinion, black people only eat deep fried chicken, corn and watermelon. dammed fucking good advert and it is, what it is.... kfc....

  • @DJSLT2000 - What do the American stereotypes you mention have to do with Aussies, Windies and cricket?

  • not racist im black but could not stop lauging. Anymore adverts like this?

  • i don't think it's racist or that it should have banned/pulled but i can see why people would complain

  • @inurxDreams - The people who complain see Americans in this ad. Enough said.

  • @inurxDreams the ad was never banned, it may have been pulled but it was only after Americans started bitching. Americans have nothing to do with the ad and should just shut up and worry about their own country.

  • Crap but not racist.

  • @joannemsmith

"Crap but not racist" <--- That is so funny. Lol...

  • In US culture, this would definitely be considered racist.

  • @ScienceReasonBelief - Why would an Aussie cricket fan among some Windies cricket fans at cricket match be considered racist in US culture?

  • @bvwcad

I didn't say that-- you are putting words in my mouth, and you know it.

The part in US culture that's racist-- or better put, a reinforcement of derogatory stereotypes, is the white guy offering fried chicken to black people, saying it's "too easy"-- as if offering fried chicked to black people calms them down and makes them friendly.

Since it appears that you live in Texas, you should know this. Since I grew up in the US, I certainly do. Aussie culture is obviously different.

  • @ScienceReasonBelief - Your words were very "definite", I didn't have to add anything, just question if your statement was true. I am aware of the American stereotype but I am also aware that it in no way applies to Aussies or Windies. Therefore you are still wrong, this ad could not be considered racist in US culture.

  • Comment removed

  • @bvwcad

Just because you're not smart enough to see that this has nothing to do with the sport teams and everything to do with the races involved, doesn't mean I'm wrong. I made it clear what part of the commercial would be considered racist, and at no point did I mention the teams. Re-read it nice and slow, and you'll see.

Therefore, you are still wrong, and quite possibly a bigot. Good luck with that.

  • @ScienceReasonBelief - Just because you can't see beyond the color of peoples skin doesn't make this ad racist. Ignornace of the cultures and histories of the countries portrayed in the ad doesn't make this ad racist anywhere in the world, including the US. Now if some people, because of there own preconceptions and prejudices, see it as racist that says more about them than the ad. A bigot is someone who ignores the facts to back up there invalid opinions. I'll stick with the facts.

  • @bvwcad

Yah, yah, whatever. That response made no sense whatsoever.

  • @ScienceReasonBelief - Sorry if understanding that the entire planet doesn't revolve around the US is confusing for you but I'm not surprised that concept goes over your head.

  • @bvwcad

you fool... I'm not from the US anymore... I've traveled extensively... don't blame me for your ignorance.

  • @ScienceReasonBelief - Who said you were from the US now? How does owning a passport make you right about this? If you could only come up with some facts as to how an Aussie among some Windies is racist anywhere in the world then you would have something to post about. Stop painting the rest of the planet with your ingrained prejudices and preconceptions.

  • Not racist. However, it does promote the extreme cruelty to animals that KFC (and McDonalds etc.) inflicts on chickens. Go Original Native American - go vegan.

  • Comment removed

  • @ScienceReasonBelief someone hasn't done their research :-). The original Native Americans (or certain tribes of them anyway) WERE vegan. I know that from a Native American.

  • @TheRushingWind

Um, actually, I HAVE done my reseach, and I'm actually part Cherokee. While they were mostly vegan, they did eat small game occasionally, such as rabbits. However, they were not strict vegans.

  • @ScienceReasonBelief Just because YOUR tribe was not fully vegan, that doesn't mean no other Native American tribe was. So you need to ACTUALLY do your research.

  • @TheRushingWind

I did, kid. None of the tribes were absolutely vegan. Eating meat happened.

Let's not argue anymore. Read up on it, and you'll see.

  • @ScienceReasonBelief I have done. And nice insult there, incredibly mature. Spot the sarcasm. I'm probably a lot older than you - and definitely a lot wiser. I don't apply my research on my own tribe to all others. There were vegan tribes. Ask the Choctaws.

  • @TheRushingWind

If you're 27 as your profile says, you're def not older than me, and obviously not wiser. I'm nearly 2 decades older and I know my native american cultures. While Choctaws were MOSTLY vegetarian, in times of scarcity (like winter) they would occasionally eat meat to survive. That's not true vegan. That's mostly vegetarian, like I said.

  • @ScienceReasonBelief actually it is true vegan to not eat animal products when other foods are available and to eat them when other foods are not available. Most vegans would eat meat IF AND ONLY IF their survival depended on it. And for someone who's "not wiser", howcome I'm not the one starting insults as in your previous comment? Age does not equal maturity.

  • @TheRushingWind

If age does not equal maturity, then why did you bring it up? You need to know when to quit, kiddo.

  • @ScienceReasonBelief you need to learn to read your own comments, considering the fact YOU brought up age - and there we are with the immature insults again. Proving my point. Thank you.
