It's no more discriminating than a Christian matrimonial website accepting only Christians. According to your logic, if a Muslim matrimonial website should allow people of all religions to join, then so should the Roman Catholic church allow people of all faiths to become nuns.
The whole idea is centered around maintaining a safe environment that allows Muslims to pursue their interests in marriage in an Islamic manner, because other websites do not.

I've been on other match making sites, and it's absolutely ridiculous! You sign up, make a profile, rejoice because it is free, and then begin searching. Once you find someone who seems interesting, you try to contact them, and THAT'S when you discover you can't do anything unless you pay a ridiculous amount of money a month. Your profile won't even show up on the search pages.
It's nice to see someone who isn't in this for the money. :o)

But I just wana mention one minor bad tactic used by u. I just got de impact from your promotion ads that you discourage the marriage usin family channel. They're trying to trick people to think they're Half Our Deen. Joke!. The real Half Our Deen site has the same logo that I'm wearing and actually has a PRICE page :) I think they should spend their money improving their services instead of trying to buy URLs that sound like Half Our Deen. Its just silly.
Also, I totally believe that making users pay increases chances of 'attracting' people who will take it seriously. So, regardless of whether or not you get volunteers, it's a sensible idea to make users pay something to stay registered.
5 Dollars a month is relatively cheap, in my opinion - after all, you're paying a company to help you to find a partner! Brother Ali, I feel like you spend a lot video-time justifying the principles behind HOD.com; let the website speak for itself! Or why not invite users to post video responses to these videos and do testimonials of their experience of using HOD?
You don't have to charge your customers. You can make it free for them completely, by getting advertisers to pay you for placing ads on the site. That way, its technically really FREE!

The issue that many people have with Muslim Matchmaking sites is that anyone with internet access and a heartbeat can view their information (not just people who are looking to get married) and because some people put up personal info about themselves in their profile, we felt that it would be best to make the site PRIVATE to protect the honor of those looking InshAllah.
@ummahfilms I think it would be alot better if you add an option that lets users to choose if they agree to view their profile to non registered visiters. that's fair, isn't it?
if you want to make your website good and fair, then have a free option that allows the user to see how many members you have and in what location, otherwise someone might sign up and find the website empty (with out any suitable users) do this and you will definitely be different compared to the others :)

This is what a business needs to make customers feel that they are getting fair deal and not being tricked somehow behind closed doors. And then to actually deliver on their promises.

To me the turnoff to other so called marriage websites are that their concept is based on bollywood films themes, the looks of their websites and how they manage it and how they present it...all seem to come from somewhere not Islamic.
@paradiseplz82 according to that - then I'm a Muslim. I've studied all the major religions looking for 'the right one' since i was 12 - (i'm 29 now). I grew a greater sense of peace in my heart by doing so because i realized we are all way more alike then we'll ever be different.
In terms of being a good person, I fit the bill with Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism (pretty sure I do). I just love God, and the Good of this Universe that was created by that force.

This is what a business needs to make customers feel that they are getting fair deal and not being tricked somehow behind closed doors. And then to actually deliver on their promises.
I personally would have registered right away to your website if I needed it.
To me the turnoff to other so called marriage websites are that their concept is based on bollywood films themes, the looks of their websites and how they manage it and how they present it...all seem to come from somewhere not Islamic.

@paradiseplz82 according to that - then I'm a Muslim. I've studied all the major religions looking for 'the right one' since i was 12 - (i'm 29 now). I grew a greater sense of peace in my heart by doing so because i realized we are all way more alike then we'll ever be different.
In terms of being a good person, I fit the bill with Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism (pretty sure I do). I just love God, and the Good of this Universe that was created by that force.
