Every since I was a kid, I remember getting to Yankee Stadium an hour early for batting practice and listening to Bob Sheppard talk about promotions and read the lineups etc...I get sad just thinking about it. Those were some great times!
Now this feels like a true Yankees home game, with Bob Sheppard's wonderful voice, and with the game being at the old/true Yankee Stadium! Yankees home games just aren't the same without Sheppard, and the old stadium. At least it's good that Sheppard's voice didn't completely go away, since you can still thankfully hear it whenever Derek Jeter comes to bat! (-:
I wish I could answer that question but I have never attended a playoff game at the old Yankee Stadium.
However when I have watched rebroadcasts of Game 6 of the 1977 World Series on ESPN Classic, I could hear him in the background announcing to fans that they should not throw objects onto the field. This was after Reggie Jackson had to run off the field to avoid being pelted by all sorts of debris from fans sitting atop the RF fence in anticipation of the eventual Yankee victory.
GREAT MEMORIES !! LISTENED TO THIS FOR SO MANY YEARS!!

Another great voice lost this year...first Ernie Harwell, now Bob Sheppard. Condolences to all Yankees fans from a die-hard Tigers fan.

I was at that game and sat right on the Yankee dugout that night. It was my birthday. A-Rod hit two Home Runs in One inning. Awesome game
