  • i wish they didnt paint southern and n&w engines just the gevos dash nines and what ever its a part of your railroad you should keep the legacy of the N&W and the SOU atleast get some heritage units or something :(

  • @southern4501isawesom they do have heritagte units, but the paint schemes are not different than what you likely saw on the NW/SOU.

  • The "Standard Cab Dash 8's" look Great, and what a cool looking Mountain Road!

  • Great sound at 1:44!

  • Upland is the best spot in the world to watch train on the grade

  • Great to watch all that power.

  • Thanks for the help!

  • My dad worked for the railroad for 27 years. He worked this very line. He said when they used to go over the trestle at amanote, all the men would duck cause it was so high it scared them.

  • Out of curiosity, what is the diesel at 2:53?

  • probably some sort of robotic locomotive. The QNS&L have one

  • Thats some kind of remote control engine that they service the mines with over around Williamson, they still have a few of them around that place.

  • according to the video they're called bug slugs, i never seen one, they seem to be out in the western half of the divison, cause i've never seen them at any of the mines east of Welch

  • Remote controlled. I would imagine.

  • Looks like an old Alco remote mine engine that they use in the place of the 'new' automated systems to move and unload/load the coal cars...

  • im gonna buy this!!!!!!!!!

  • this dvd is awsome, i really enjoyed it, alot of the places they've showed i've been too, used to live near keystone. so it was always fun to go into town.

  • My other half works this division for NS so it's kinda neat to see some of what he does most everyday. Thanks.

  • Cool

  • Theres nothing better to listen to then a roar of an SD40-2 in Run 8!

  • Farm is definitely one of the best spots, though i prefer either Welch,Northfork, or at Vivian tunnel on the outskirts of Welch. because at 2 of the spots, you might still be able to catch N&W style postion light signals, but not for much longer. they are falling fast.

  • This is my home district. Pentrex does a good job on this one. My favorite spot on that line, Farm WV.

  • @bushwacker2008

hey buschwacker, thats very cool. I used to love ralfanning the the pokey. was always fun, and yea farm to about northfork is the best area to watch.

  • Thanks for posting. Looks like Keystone WV. I saw trains in Welch Keystone and bluefield great spot!!!!!

  • man those were the days...all you see over there now is constant widecabs, and maybe an occasional SD60 or 70. *sigh*

  • at 2:51, what is that diesel because I never seen those before? so, let me know.

  • looks like some kinda old Fairbanks Morris (FM) type Trainmaster, don't hold me to it though, and I'm lookin like grabbin this on DVD when I get around to it!

  • nice video, thanks

  • awsome video, and at 1:18 look like the big mine in Welch, near where i used to live in WV, i'd love to get a copy of this video or series of videos on either VHS or DVD, be great to see images of Home

  • Go Norfolk Southern!! Good Job Pentrex!!
