What I think is sad is that Obama was elected largely because he was black. I've heard too many people say they voted for him because "we need a black president". No. We need a smart president. I voted for Obama on account of his intelligence and policy, but it still saddens me to see the election reduced (well, not reduced, it's pretty much always been) a popularity contest.

Education does not have as much to do with intelligence as you say. Obama has much less experience then McCain does with the government. McCain knows what he is doing here. Palin is a strong back up for him because shehas more experience with social and economic issues. Just because Obama could afford to go to a better school does not mean that he is the better president. To me it seems all Obama has said in this election is cccchhhaaaannnggeeeeeee...

It doesn't so much have to do with "education" as it does with a different life view. Academics are usually grounded in science and empiricism. They believe what they see, and above all, strive to be rational. On the other hand, people who are not educated tend to be the exact opposite. They are usually religious and do not base all of their decisions on well thought-out premises.
