i lived in fort payne i live down the street from randy owen i dont like country music but i love alabama`s music i now live in indinan i miss alabama alabama is my home you ya take care
i just lost an uncle at 7:30am jan.17 who loved alabama's music. we had some differences that lasted for years. we had just decided to put it in the past. we were more like brothers/best friends and mostly drinkn buddies. changed alotta motors with a pole stretched between two trees with a chain n a wench (hillbilly style). so now i sit here drinkin n listenin to this music remembering. lesson to be learned? dont hold a grudge to long folks
@mrlighterknot1 i grew up in jax and lived in tallahassee, i've always said that north florida is really south georgia. are you in milton, defuniak or pensacola. i live in atlanta now, and miss it terribly.
This song brings back many memories of seeing Alabama in concert & the June Jams. Their will never be another group to fill there shoes. The best!!! Miss seeing them!! Their songs came from the heart!!! Wish for a reunion tour...keeping my fingers x :)
@rdmineer1 150 years ago a boastful yankee army assured the world that the confederacy would be defeated within a few weeks. Instead fierce rebel defiance lasted for years, and culminated in the tyrant and war crimanal Abraham Lincoln being sent back to the bowels of hell.
Today the song you posted that comment to is about being from dixie. Not the war for southern Independance.
I'd say you badly need to set your watch. The correct time is 2011.
@m96c40 All I said is I remember where I was first time I heard it. Unforgettable. After that, I served at Maxwell. Love northern Alabama. Heck, I'm pen pals with Jeff and Randy.
I was on mid-shift in the Comm Center at San Vito AS, Italy. We were listening to the Harry Newman Show on Armed Forces Radio. That ALABAMA sound still stops me in my tracks and sends waves down my back.
me and my wife visited alabama last year due to my sopn-in-law stationed at fort rucker, OH, we really enjoyed tyhe place, it reminds me all my aspirations in life considering that i love to see so...so.. country place in mainland, well, we are from the philippines and very few of us go that far in mainland, you know, you can always contact me at ...cyrus7753@yahoo.com ... for a better exchange of ideas...
@geoej2010 how was NC a union state when Virginia, which is north of NC, was home to the capital of the Confederate States for almost the whole time of the CSA? NC and VA have little to nothing to do with the Union
Great song, but i am in NC, and the southern traditions are all but washed out by immigrants and Yankees, Its not like it was 35 years ago. Never did like change.
@1982Moonbird I feel you. Tuscaloosa is my hometown and I actually had a sorority sister from Mulga who was killed in the tornado. I miss her so much, but I know she is watching over us all.
This has been a tough thing for Alabama to go through but I know we will grow back stronger than before! It makes me so happy to see so many people reaching out to others! Thanks everyone for your prayers and please continue to keep praying for Tuscaloosa and all other affected areas of Alabama! RTR!!!
@SweetHeartofDixie89 Bless your heart, honey; that's awful. But just remember that through all of the horror and death, that there is new life to be had....2 of my cousins who live in Tuscaloosa (one of which lost a friend in Holt, and the other whose grandpa is a first responder and was getting really upset about all the death) found out they were pregnant a week after the storms...it can never replace the beloved we have lost, but it helps dry the tears a little
There is no place like the south. As long as I can live in the south, I feel right at home. Although I'm from Texas, my good friend is from Alabama and about the time this great song came out, we were both living in Pennsylvania because our husbands had job there. I never could figure out which one of us was the most homesick. I finally made it back to Texas, and I hope she finally made it back to her true love--Alabama. There just is no place like home--and that's the south!
man you can't tell me that you could find 1 million auburn fans before we could with we meaning Alabama fans...one dumbass auburn fan on the whole video leaving a comment like "war damn eagle"....auburn is just a bunch of damn rednecks.............ROLL TIDEE!!

Hi Kashif ... you really surprised me with this upload. Why? Because I was born in the same small Alabama town the group "Alabama" comes from -- Ft. Payne. And of course, I'm also a singer. My music is a little harder -- but still, small world ... :) Mike
