Any videos of John Bassett around? I miss those guys. I remember opening for him at the Yippie Smoke-In and Annual Mayor Ralph Perk Memorial Indecency Day! (back around '75 I think). Alex probably played there too.
Does anybody remember what the name of the band Alex was in before he took over and called it Alex Bevan band? Knew this guy, he was a fantastic person! Dated his brother bob for some time!
I moved to Houston in 2005 and it was great to see and hear Alex again. In tribute to Alex I named my Labrador puppy Jazzbo. A perfect name and song for a Labrador.
funny how ephemeral the moments are, yet the way magic lasts. a man, a mentor, a song, an acoustic guitar... what no one has said is that john bassette paved the way for doing it yourself -- and that was long before punk went DIY.
a sweet gentleman, often in a velvet hood, john bassette understood drawing people close -- and alex bevan obviously served the tradition with the same warmth + joy, a pleasure in the chill of losing the "here be dragons"/"weed + wine" troubadour.
A full band recording of Alex doing this song is on the tribute CD, The Songs of John Bassette: Been Through So Much Together, found at JohnBassette-dot-org
Bevan and Bassette, my first ever concert 1975! So great to see Alex is still so great. Now if only we could find some John Bassette video around here...
I was saddened to hear of John's passing this past November. He was a great musician and a good man. He will be missed. He (and Alex) made my time in Cleveland in the late seventies and early eighties quite tolerable and contributed to a great music scene. Thanks guys! Hey Alex, plan a trip out to Colorado, the Little Bear in Evergreen would be a great venue for you to play!
Good question on the Bassette vids...never checked here at YouTube

Sounds great! What is the deal with that chick doing her makeup? It is a radio show.

@ttmilbr I'd rather watch her than the "Not so Skinny boy"

I love how that fat pig Kim Mihelevek is putting on eye liner/make up next to him while this guy is playing.
