stick to hard drives if you value your data! SSD drives are faster yes but hard drives are more reliable and can have data recovery if it fails. SSD drives cannot. If the hard drive ever goes off the market it will be a sad day.
I think SSDs will be much more reliable than current day hard drives. It only gets scary when all the chips are connected in parallel, and losing one chip may mean several bad bits scattered in every block on the disk.
But overall, they are probably going to be a lot more reliable...and they aren't self destructive! I use drives in raid, and I back up my important data to another set of drives, with a totally independent file system, so I feel like I'll be pretty safe for years to come.
it is wiser to back up say once a week to hard drives :-) otherwise thunder could strike and hey!!!! ALL SSD DRIVES FAIL IN ONE GO! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH it is possible!
I can tell right away that is a Seagate... but just out of curiosity, how many gigs is that??? I to have an old Seagate Medalist that sounds a little like that one.
seagate!! am I right??

HDDs are much more relaible then most typpes of storage that where used before HDDs became mainstream, like floppy disks and tapes.

@hellraidzor
I have no idea what that's supposed to mean....
Are you saying they arn't more reliable? The current ones? yes and no. It matters how and where you are using them.

hard discs are the worst type of digital storage, im saying that.

I always felt like floppies won that position ;-)

But what if the backup is an SSD?
TheGeek1028 3 years ago
Whats the point in that? If the system suffers a bad surge the chances are both drives wil blow...
draculapw 2 years ago
You need to backup onto a hdd. Trust me the first SSD's wont be that good.
They wil never be as reliable as hdds. Not when you concider data recovery.
