  • best if your on a slight down hill, in 1st gear, get a steady roll and quickly let out the clutch but be ready to pull it back in right away when it starts. had to do it on the cbr600rr i just bought. battery is charged now.

  • Nice tennis shoes, at least it's a step up form the pile-on wearing flip-flops.

  • I love the old bikes... If the electric start does not work, you have this thing known as a kick starter!

  • bump start geez are all these comments none bike riders

  • its called bumps starting...

  • When you do this, do you have to hit the ignition at all or will dumping the clutch be the only thing you need to do. Also, once started approx how long does the engine need to run to charge the battery?

  • damn dude, you are a squid and you cant spell for shit.

  • Just did it to my bike, lol thanks.. my brother didnt know a chick knew how to do it (:

  • and if you accidentally will give gas on your R1 or Hayabusa, then you will be like superman for half-second ad then you`ll be dead :D

  • lol this is called bump starting

  • what if you dont have the keys

  • @hydrox393 then you hot wire it =)

  • Many years ago I had a bike that had a bad rectifier or something and would never charge right. I always had to push start it. I'd do basically what you just did but I'd hop on the bike side saddle to put weight on the rear so it wouldn't skid. I came out of a bar one night kinda drunk and had to start my bike this way and I tipped over on it to the right with both of my legs on the left side of the bike. Good thing I was drunk or I'd have been hurt. I don't do that anymore, thank God.

  • littering and? littering and? smoking the reefers

  • idiot

  • If you have enough co-ordination , try to 'DUMP' the clutch and jump onto the seat itll hold the back tire down which will turn the motor over and not skid the back tire, works great if you time it properly

  • @maporules Best answer yet....thats the way, Thumbs up.

  • just the same as pushing start a manual car.

  • And if dump the clutch dont work... dump the bike... :D joke nice vid...

  • just push the bike while its in nutral and then just kick in to the first gear

  • @cigarmad1 with what limb, if you're pushing? also, first gear easily locks up the rear wheel instead of turning the engine on :)

  • An added tip would be not to just "dump the clutch" but to let it out quickly when you get upto speed, then pull it in again as soon as the engine starts, otherwise your pride and joy will ride away without you, if you don't like being dragged on the floor behind it. -- Oh i'm by no means having ago at you, but why only use this technique close to home? It doesn't damage the bike, and riding afterwards is no different.

  • looks like yer jerkin off wit yer bike lol =)

  • Same thing for a standard transmission car. That technique has saved my dumb behind twice :D

Silly old Honda's don't tell you if you've let your lights on :X

  • What do you mean by "dump the clutch"? Do you mean pull it in or release it?

  • @alehax27 Let it go. Dont ease it out, just release it completely. Hope this video helped =)

  • @199Xray my grand father taucht ne that but good that you know that

  • Thanks! I never knew this was possible! Does it matter which gear based on your CC, i.e. Do you start a 1000cc motor in a differently gear than a 250cc motorcycle?

  • @epsilon6 Nope just has to be in second or third. If its in first the back tire tends to skid.

  • @199Xray Hey, Do you have to press and or hold the ignition button ??

  • @polopolomay no as long as your key is on

  • @199Xray The gearbox won't let the wheel spin because first is the slowest, but the strongest gear, that's why second or third work better ;)

  • @199Xray Your are crazy, a 1000cc won't start in 2nd or 3rd, only 5th or higher!

  • @Aliriam My battery in my ZZR1100 died in Daytona this past weekend when I was at the Daytona 500, I used this method with my friend pushing, we got it started in 2nd gear, I drove it back home to Orlando (about 55 minutes) before getting a new battery. I don't know where your getting the idea you need 5th gear.

  • Nicely done!

  • @davidhowellca Thanks, sir!

  • Nice job! It took me about 20 tries the first time I had to do it, think I was just too scared to drop the clutch quick enough :(

On top of that, if I remember correctly, the bike would try to die if I didn't keep the revs about like 2.5K or so...

  • @cokecan500 Word. I had a few goes at it myself the first time. (thats what she said) lol.

  • Did you figure out what caused the battery / charging system to completely die?

  • @Wilks89 Pretty sure its the stator. My 1st suspicion would normally be the regulator, but i already replaced that. lol

  • Good job. :) I haven't done that yet...or had to do it. I hope I didn't just jinx myself...

  • @ToastToGo I sure hope you never have to duder. Just watch out for black cats and mirrors haha.
