  • 89 was Becker's peak, when you achieve three Wimbledons at a tender age of 21, there is only one direction left to go - down. Also that loss to Michael Stich finished him off, he was never the same player again, although he did manage to win 1996 Australian Open. Still, he could have been the GOT - but not all great players are born machines like Rafa and Roger. Imagine what Ivanisevic could have done with his game . so many what if's . . thanks for the memoreis to both of you Boris and Ivan

  • Thank so much for editing and loading this. Wonderful.

  • Many of these points were lost by Becker committing himself to coming in behind relatively weak shots. His serves were unworthy of approaches. I was always a fan of Lendl, but I assume Becker was better than this; he had to have been. He also looks tired. Nevertheless, Lendl's passing shots within a 3-5 foot space are amazing.

  • Lendl was a beast. Becker hmmm was he on the slide this early? I recall him being better than this in the early 90s.

  • Before there was Federer, there was Lendl.

  • ...Becker isn't that great of a volleyer...his volleys not anywhere nearly as great as Edberg's...
