That is a really neat looking console. Never seen a separate record sensor like that. What was the metal ding at the end?

Spoiled - ah no, well maybe YES! LOL
The 'ding' at the end is just the idler 'platter stopper' as I call it hitting the inside of the rim. The felt that was on it has long since fallen off, so it's just metal on metal. Thanks you the comments!
