The reason why mma took over the fighting buisness is because in the ufc there is one champion per wieght class and when their is 2 great fighters in the same division they are gonna fight. A pro boxer would gas just as easily because they lack the strength endurance most MMA fighters poses. Boxers also get 11 breaks which is almost 3x more than a title fight in MMA. At least in full body combat you are more likely to see a conclusion because it's easier to make a mistake in 8 limb combat with takedowns & submissions. Who really wants to sit threw hour long draws¿

Floyd and Pacman are lucky to make the money they make right now because there are really no other boxing PPV attractions. It feels like they are the two last boxers who will ever make it to the big time. The one area the UFC i think is off in is there are too many events now.

@wereareyoumarn Ironically, some of the big MMA guys should leave and train to become boxers. they would make more money and would not be under the meat factory known as the UFC. Part of the problem with the ufc is that is it somewhat less memorable like you said, because finishes can be so quick even if both fighters are good. Generally in boxing, the legendary matches were all out wars, time will tell i guess, but so far, boxing has a longer memory.

@wereareyoumarn Gloves are used to protect a fighters hand, not the opponents face. Boxing gloves reduce cuts & bursing but the force generated is nearly the same. UFC started without gloves & people kept breaking their hands. When Jimmerson competed in UFC was a top boxing prospect at the time. It wouldn't matter if you put put the p4p best boxer in the octagon. Fighters are trained to do what boxers are trained not to do.

A guy who started late in life to rise to the top of that "sport." All it takes is drive and hard work (training) to get to the top of the UFC. You can't do that in boxing.

@Pensfanks The Welterweight division in MMA has almost always been dominated by wrestlers. Before GSP was Matt Hughes, before Hughes was dominating the division so was Pat Miletich. Limiting a fighters abilities only proves he isn't a boxer... If Floyd went to MMA he wouldn't have his dominate skill set restricted, however he still wouldn't make it out of the first round.

A pro boxer would gas just as easily because they lack the strength endurance most MMA fighters poses. Boxers also get 11 breaks which is almost 3x more than a title fight in MMA. At least in full body combat you are more likely to see a conclusion because it's easier to make a mistake in 8 limb combat with takedowns & submissions. As a 44 yr. old, boxing had been my favorite sport until mma arrived. Because mma is actually more similar to a REAL fight. And in mma fights are made by the organization as opposed to a Mayweather and Pacquiao fight that the fans want to see, but will probably not happen, due to excuses by Mayweather. Floyd and Pacman are lucky to make the money they make right now because there are really no other boxing PPV attractions. It feels like they are the two last boxers who will ever make it to the big time. The one area the UFC i think is off in is there are too many events now.

Part of the problem with the ufc is that is it somewhat less memorable like you said, because finishes can be so quick even if both fighters are good. Generally in boxing, the legendary matches were all out wars, time will tell i guess, but so far, boxing has a longer memory.

UFC started without gloves & people kept breaking their hands. When Jimmerson competed in UFC was a top boxing prospect at the time. It wouldn't matter if you put put the p4p best boxer in the octagon. Fighters are trained to do what boxers are trained not to do.

Limiting a fighters abilities only proves he isn't a boxer... If Floyd went to MMA he wouldn't have his dominate skill set restricted, however he still wouldn't make it out of the first round.
