Here is the answer to your confusion. Gen. 22.1 is speaking of a test of love and obedience. James 1:13 is speaking of a test of endurance and long suffering. Comparing these two test might be looked at like this. A teacher says I will never test you in math. And then gives you a test in English. Would you say to the teacher, You promised not to test me? Typically, to adequately rebut a theory scientifically you should actually learn about that theory. Genetics gives more proof than ever of evolution. You should read more than just one book.

Clearly it is not about quantity or I would throw in, as you have, with the religiou majority. It is, however, about quality. I would believe that one book in your clever scenario because it clearly is the more accurate representation of reality, and the other books would not 'prove' anything to me. And my choice to believe the evidence for evolution I would simply state as a recognition of that accuracy. I 'choose' to believe that which makes sense. Your last statement is false by the way.
