  • are these cymbals heavy enough for metal?>?

  • I just bought some of his hats :D So Good!

  • I found the ride to be very heavy.

  • 66666 viewer!!

  • was that one little victory at the end????

  • @prssecustum Yeah it sounded like it

  • if i found him in the woods, id steal his drum set! lol

  • i have a copy of this dvd promo!

  • what i want to know is what kind of ride he had FOR THE FIRST 30 YEARS!!!

    25 TO BE EXACT

  • @CDRofl 22" Zilco Ping/Rock Ride that was polished to a brilliant finish over the years

  • I love the way these, but if only i had the money for them.

  • Neil Peart is so awesome his high hats have high hats!

  • These were modeled after the classic a line. Most of sabian and zildjian sound alike. Only difference I hear is in the crashes, sabian is more dry while zillion is more watery. They are the same in quality if you think about it

  • I love the album Vapor Trails. His drumming sounds alot like what he used in their album. God, paragons sound amazing.

  • i have these and their amazing

  • Let's see, he got his first ride from a factory in new Brunswick? Let's see, what company owned that factory? Perhaps a cymbal company that starts with a Z?

  • @mythkid1208 zildjian used to make their k cymbals there.

  • @unduswaffel Yea I kno. But then how did he get an A ping ride then?

  • @mythkid1208 i have no idea as i was born 20 years after he got it

  • @unduswaffel Lol me too! (22 years) but that's fine

  • I heard the paragon china in the local music store, best thing i have ever heard

  • haha only sabian. “let’s make cymbals and cut them into different geometric shapes!” <3 i am forever a fan

  • What he left out was Zildjian didn't want to produce a seperate artist line for him.

Neil was a Zildjian man for years. I still have magazine ads with him plugging them.

Bad business decision on Zildjian's part since Sabian's Paragon line sale are off the chart.

Oh well. I doubt Zildjian really cares since they have so many others doing their advertising work for them.

Neil did the right thing for himself. And he's laughing all the way to the bank!

  • 3:55 One Little Victory! Awesome drum part.

  • i was all just joking...i truly love both sabian and zildjian equal

  • i just wanna see how many thumbs down i get

GO ZILDJIAN!!!!..SABIAN SUCKS!!!..ZILDJIAN IS THE BEST!!!..SABIAN IS TERRIBLE

  • @LeftyLP80 Saying Sabian is terrible is like slapping Neil peart in the face.

  • ill be damned if theres any Trouble with The Trees when Neils out there playing for them. The Maples and Oaks chill the fuck out for a while :D

  • i like how the crashes and splashes are low, but the main parts like the china and the ride and hi-hats are higher.

  • They sound really good but it's the price that kills me <:(

  • The only thing that could make this video better is if Bear Grylls walked out of the woods when Neil was playing.

  • that was an insane solo... i mean, personally i prefer guitars but that was just awesome.

  • does he get his cymbals for free then? ;o

  • @lambvofvgod yeah. endorsements bitch lol

  • Neil is the shittiest drummer ever.

  • @Trommeslagter

really? so explain why he is nr 1 in the best drummers list?

  • @tttmmmnnnttt He is number one on your shitty mainstream magazine list. The best drummers don't stand in the limelight dude.

  • @Trommeslagter

just because you think he's shitty doesnt mean he is...

and its not a mainstream magazine, its an official one! the votes dont come from people, the votes come from the famous drummers themselfs, like mike portnoy, tony royester Jr.

    so dont run your mouth!

  • @tttmmmnnnttt wow, you are really stupid.

  • @Trommeslagter

u just call me stupid because u cant accept the fact that neil is the best!

  • @tttmmmnnnttt

he's "OF" the best (still alive)

  • this video was fucking gay

  • i have aax stage hats ...ohh man the best ,,,,,,also a 18 AA thin crash ,.,,, awesome sound very dark.... but the thing with Sabian is that they crack very easy...PAISTE ARE MORE DURABLE....

  • too bad he's a canadian.

  • @zhn0k What's wrong with that?

  • @4thwatcher777 lol nothing

  • 0:43 This is why he's God's drum teacher.

  • niel peart is good...but he peaked a lonnnnggg time ago and @german80...ur stupid i use 4 different companies to match my sound needs: zildjian, sabian, paiste, and dream

  • Fuck zildian! My first pack of cymbals was a pack of sabian b8s, which are still in pretty good condition after about 7 months, with one cracked cymbal. for christmas, i got a zildian ZHT and it had broken after about a month. sabian kicks ass!

  • @drumerrboi77 maybe you should stop sucking. refine your technique before you go accusing some symbol brand of being poorly-made because you don't know how to hit it.

  • @rallistEVO ok, i do now take what i said back. im currently using zildjian a custons, which i find are MUCH better than my old sabians. but the old zildjian was fairly thin, guess i should have specified that. Thats my bad.

  • even the b8s sound good

  • @german80

I agree. I used to be a huge Zildjian fan, but they have worked overtime to lose my business.

  • zildjian and sabian = same makers.

  • @DrumForHill same family, not same makers

  • drumforhill= fuck you

  • Sabian is a subcompany owned by the zildjian family

  • @wrxstiawd No, it isn't. Sabian is Zildjian's biggest competitor.

  • no its not. sabian is owned by robert zildjian who had a dispute with his brother ARmand after Armand was appointed head of the zildjian bored. i prefer sabian cymbals but if you thing about it. sabian was formed because someone had a whinge.

  • @german80

hey fuck you crout i play both

  • wp08021 you dont need to use both, sabian has everything one needs. well the K zildjians are good but fuck that

  • @german80

the old k zildjian are awsome, i have a early 60's k istanbul, and early 80's k custom when they frist where brought to zildjian facotry in the states, both are hand hammered

  • @german80 Yea. I am twelve years old and I've used Zildjians for years. Every one, under only three years of light playing has a chunk out of it or a crack in it. Then, i got a little curious and picked up a Sabian. That one has been my workhorse. No cracks, chips or anything. Still sounds as good as it did the day I got it. Check me out! I play all Rush stuff on YouTube.

    Owen

  • @german80 The only sabians that are good are his and the china i have from like the 70's

  • @german80

fuck zildjian? ok, there is 1 thing you should know if you are a SABIAN fan, SABIAN is created by Zildjian!

SABIAN is Created by Robert Zildjian, the son of Avedis Zildjian III!

the name SABIAN comes from the names of Robert Zildjians 3 childeren:

    SA = Sally

    BI = Billy

    AN = Andie

ok so without Zildjian, Sabian would not exist!

  • @german80 You say that now, but without Zildjian, there'd be no Sabian.

  • @MrGenericdrummer Yes exactly, but Sabian does sound quite a bit better than zildjian. Not so dark and muddled sounding.

  • Is it just me or does Peart talk like he's got something in his mouth? Great drummer, great cymbals.

  • peart does have something in his mouth.

    100% CONCENTRATED AWESOME.

  • Hah, wow I must've been high typing that.

  • God, so he has got a ton of cymbals out but no actual drums. He needs to put out a limited run of his drum set out! That would be sweet. Or atleast develop a snare to sell to us.

  • you mean like the signature edge snare he has out with DW?

but yeah a drumset would be cool.

  • Shit! He has a snare out!! Never knew that.

  • yeah there's a few out. atleast 2 for definite

  • @gibsongod15 he does get someeee snairs out for grabs but good luck getting one lol

  • do you think 900 bucks is a good deal for a snakes and arrows snare?

  • @gibsongod15 idk man

neils snare is 24K gold on it... soo.... oh also ITS NEIL FREAKEN PEARTS SNARE

    so yes any price

  • wow 3:10 to 3:45 was awesome

    paragon cymbals are cool.

does anyone know what china or cymbal he was using at 3:25 to 3:32

  • Sabian PARAGON! 20 inch.

  • the video is out of sync with what he is actually playing at that point but he is definetly playing the 19" paragon model

  • yeah defo the 19"

  • I got my Paragon 8" Splash today... Woo-Whee! I LOVE IT!

  • lol I'd love to just go out in the woods and find Neil Peart just out there jamming lol

  • lmao, true

  • that would also be scary

  • @SabianAHX That'd be awesome

  • @SabianAHX If tht ever happens, call me ;-)

  • That's one little victory for Neil!

  • Good line of cymbals, own a few myself. I think the crashes are too heavy/thick however.

  • Ouch EMBOBZ, it hurts to say this (as a huge Peart-fan) but..........................greatest drummer of all time, hmm...what about...

    Buddy Rich (dead) ?

    Virgil Donati (living) ?

  • Well, its a fact to me .. i think Buddy Rich is an un beatable drummer, like there is hardley anyone who can drum like him!

But i prefere Neil's style (mainly because im a huige fan of Rush) and ive never heard of Virgil Donati (Sorry to his fans!) but im just saying my opinion after all.

  • Embobz, Neil's style is absolutely gorgeous, I really admire him and nobody influenced me more than he did, but please check out Virgil Donati immediately, HE'S A MONSTER !!!

I recommend to check out -Planet X live in Bulgaria part 1- on YouTube first, you'll never be the same again ! Virgil is the polyrhythm king, a drummer who really takes drumming to the next level in the 21st century. Please let me know what you think of him...you won't be disappointed !

  • Your right, he is an unbelievable drummer! Even though i arn't into his band, he is a great inspiration (i can just tell) to drummers out there.

Neil is still my number one, but i still think other drummers are amazing! (As you can tell by my name, im a Rush fan!)

  • Neil Peart is actually Kevin Spacey in disguise

  • just give a try to UFIP cymbals

  • i h8 UFIP

  • Imho, the Paragon crashes lack a tonality that I prefer. Please understand, they're amazing cymbals, just not what I'm looking for in my music. The ride, splashes, chinas, and hats are all exemplary though. Truly amazing cymbals.

  • I agree completely

  • Does anybody know what kind of bass drum he uses? especially at 2:20

  • DW Collector's Series.

  • He has a custom made 23" bass drum from DW drums.

  • In this video, he is using a 22" x 16" DW Bass Drum. However, now, he uses a 23" x 16" DW X-Shell Bass Drum. Both in the laquered type.

  • His playing in the forrest is very mediocre

  • Its to bring out the cymbal sound, not impress the cameraman.

  • made right here in canada

  • Zildjian is the best for me...

  • 3:37-3:40

    One Little Victory

  • YES!

  • sabian hhx is an AMAZING line. if i had the money, that's all i'd have. although i really like this china... haha

  • I used to like Zlidjians for quiet some time, then I saw some top rock drummers useing Paiste Rudes and I when then turnned on to Paiste. Yeah they cost a small fortune, but if you want to play for real, you really cannot buy better. Paiste for life.

  • i heard paiste was the best brand.

    but also the most expensive.

my friend who is the son of a pro drummer says that sabians are horrible (worse than zildjian and paiste)

    is that true?

  • Paiste is used alot. The top 3 most used are probably:

    3. Paiste

    2. Sabian

    1. Zildjian

If I had to pick a top 3 for my all time fave, I would do

    3. Paiste

    2. Zildjian

    1. Sabian.

Paise is awesome, but just no sound I am looking for. Zildjian and Sabian are about equal, but I think Sabian has more models I am looking for. Don't get me wrong, Zildjian and Paiste are still good.

  • No one can say what brand is best, but for the experience Zildjian will kick them both asses because it's one of the most anciest company's, even if the secret of Avedis Zildjian to make the perfect cymbals was passed to Armand Zildjian and his younger brother ( Man who started SABIAN Cymbals Ltd. ).

So that's the only thing we can have sure, the experience.

All have good cymbals, and you forgot one great brand named Meinl.

    Good comment by the way.

    Keep it up.

  • Yes, I agree.

  • Uh, Paiste is the most consistent in making cymbals actually, because they are made a different way through with pneumatic hammering techniques instead of man power. For me however it's Zildjian, but Sabian is very good (so it Istanbul and Meinl)!!

  • sabian, paiste, and zildjian are all amazing but i like paiste best and sabian or zildjian second

  • Don't forget Meinl and Istanbul!

  • istanbul is good but i hate meinl

  • In My opinion, I love Sabian and Zildjian, but am not a fan of any other company. Paragon is a nice vibrant sound, and i'm going to purchase at least the ride from the paragon line.

  • SABIAN is greatest cymbals.B8 is just lowest series but PARAGON,HHX,AAX and AA they are just awesome. The big and clean sound who we hear at the jazz and rock is form SABIAN.I play only on this kind of sound...better than Paiste and other cymbals...

  • Wow lol, you forgot the Signature and HH Series, my two favs from Sabian lol. But then again, I'm not a Sabian man myself.

    Zildjian/Paiste for me.

  • SABIAN is better than other cymbals. B8 is just the lowest series but PARAGON,HHX,AAX,AA...thats is for professionals only. The greater sound at the jazz and rock is come from SABIAN!!!

  • I like Zildjian better. Just my opinion

  • Me too.

  • I don't understand why Sabain fans freak out when you say that though

  • I don't know why also, maybe because they hate Zildjian.

  • yeah I guess

  • Beastly cymbals.

  • So...how bout that Zildjian Pitch Black?

  • Pitch black sucks.

Well, some Pitch black sound good, not all though.

  • why to choose only a brand? all sabian are good for playing

  • even the cheap sabians sound good

  • not the sabian b8 rock cymbals!

  • they do

  • I love my B8 and B8 Pros. Sabian is just excellent! Especially for the the fact that they have affordable Cymbals for kids or anyone who cant afford the others. If you say B8s sound bad you are wrong. All sabian is excellent period.

  • Wait. With the exception of Solar.

  • TheMegaPowers, B8's sound terrible FYI

  • LOL!

  • it's true. Paiste!!!!!!!!

  • No, I mean Sabian B8's. Not B8 alloy. Paiste's 2002 series sound great. So does Meinl Mb8.

  • I know, I said Paiste are the best! B8 is a fine alloy, as is b20.

  • Sabian's B8s are their entry level cymbals, they're supposed to work, suck, and be cheap.

  • exactly

  • The hihat in the intro sound very electric like the 909 hihat of my td6

  • No pun intended, but Neil has a tendency to rush some of the playing. It is evident in the video at the end, that it is rushed.

  • He's in Rush.

    =)

  • I wouldn't call that an error. Neil is amazing. He's Neil Peart. He can hit whatever he wants.

  • the one thing i love about Neil Pert is that he always has the sickest drum fills

  • Yeah they're very creative, but if you listen to Rush enough, you'll notice him repeating them a lot in various ways. Good example is the weird one near the end of distant early warning. Ive heard him do that one in at least 5 different songs.

  • Its true that peart has repeated himself with fills. But you have to think that rush has put out almost 20 albums over the course of 30 plus years. that alot of drumming. anybody would start to repeat.

  • there good but over priced the paragons personaly i like the aas and aaxs

  • Paragons aren't overpriced, they cost the exactly same as the Vault line. Since Paragon used to be part of the Signature line which later changed into what is now Vault, they are the same price.

  • still over priced i like my aas and aaxs lol i stick to them

  • i hammer my cymbals after i buy them to personalize the sound and then i poop on them and let it dry to give it a rustic diarrhea sound

  • I had a good laugh to this one.

  • i lol'd. pretty hard.

  • thats fuckin hilarious

  • Wheeew, glad I wasn't the only one.

  • probaly the most wierd and funny thing ive ever heard to do with drums!! lawl

  • zildjian sucks.. soulles machine hammered cyms.. no thanks

  • ok zildjian obv doesnt suck. ye others are good but z are the most used live and recorded cymbals in the world so cya.

  • they dont suck, Sabians AA &AAX series stand for automatic anvil.....lol

  • Zildjian also have hand hammered.

  • No way, because i do the same, but i piss on them, then put out a cigarette on each hammer mark (which kinda sucks when i have an HH or AA or K Custom), then i dip them in black paint. I'm pretty sure that was kinda the concept behind zildjian's Pitch Black series.

  • this man is god

  • so they have pinpoint lathing on the top and wide lathing on the bottom?

  • it wud be cool to put his cymbals with his type of drum set but witht he shells made out of cymbal alloid like danny careys.that wud be a pwnage drum set imo.

*proud owner 2,000 bux neil peart paragon set* =)

  • The paragons are a bit dry for my liking - across the board. I like eliments of all the cymbal companies. I like very live cymbals. Oddly enough, I love Sabian's rides & cinas, Zildjian's hats and Paiste's crashes.

  • oh paiste have the best crashes

  • I agree COMPLETELY with what you just said. Sabian rides are beautiful, I like me a short sounding (think 14 and 16") paiste crash, 14" zildjian hats and either a sabian or zildjian china...perfect combo.

  • i was never into singnature equipment but now i'm thinking of getting some of those, they sound amazing man

  • do...they sound amazing live...not so much in the studio...thats HHX's job...but live, AAX and paragon all the way...trust me its worth it..
