  • This goddamn song is fucking epic. I want to fight something. Anything.

  • Just finished this game on psp about a week ago, sad ending, but i loved every second of this game. Now im collecting secret characters for a 100% game

  • Thumbs up if you own this on both PSP and PSX, yet play it on PSP even though there's considerable lag, just so you're not tempted to JP-Scroll Glitch/Weapon Dup.

  • (Meanwhile at the prologue) Must..Get..EXP, though it doesn't matter in the beginning anyway.

    *action*

    *Basic Skill*

    *Throw Stone*

    "Level up"

    "Job Level Up"

    Lolz.

P.S: Algus! you Bastard! (That's right "Algus" Old school)

  • I loved this game. Some parts were fucking hard as hell but that's what makes a good solid tactic game. Plus the story was really good if you like politics and what-not.

  • I still have no idea why this song is called Trisection.

  • @LGunhazard The translations were really weird for this game. Like one track is called "Bloody Excrement."

  • This game has to be THE #1 or #2 top FF game so far

  • @BlackfalconVI dunno... i think its 6,7 then tactics, so... Bronze Medal YAY!!!

  • I renamed this "Agrias' Battle Tune" sometimes due to the first battle she's in you see.

  • I just realized I might have a phobia. Looking at that image i find myself completely and utterly uncomfortable... I can't even enjoy the song...

  • haha fucking orlandu, during some playthroughs i forced myself not to use him, the giant one hitted everything.

  • hmm how about this for one of the attackest: "purest blade, strike truth and stave the hearts of darkness, Shine Blade!" lolz

  • DAMN.Am I the only one that remembers Orlandu bending their ass over as a kid lol. Some epic dialogue, the song would start, and rape would ensue XD

  • I have never stopped playing this game...

  • omg this 3 people can die from diarrhea for all i care .. how can you deslike this ?

  • I grew way too attached to the NPC's it gives you at the beginning of 2nd Act, like Rad. So many reset games just because he turned into a crystal...

  • The three people who disliked this are obviously working for Draclau.

  • Orlandu joined your party...translated to: "This game just got significantly easier."

  • daaaamn I didn't even like strategy games at the time but this one song pretty much forced me to keep going past the first level.

I'm glad it did just that.

  • You know, going to different YouTube videos, on music videos, if they're mainstream the upmost voted comment is about Justin Bieber. If they're indie it's about how the music is better than life. If it's a random funny video it's about the number of dislikes. But if it's a video game, it's about UTTER DEVOTION to that game.

  • remember i beat this game withotu battling with random enemies, all the fights were hell.

  • @pavloscorpion i know what you mean! some of the fights were so one sided. seriously, 10 on 6 fights?! and your enemies stating off on higher elevations and better gear.

  • @allthatishere i remember when i first fought summoners, i had to do it like 15 times to beat them.

  • I was into all the other final fantasy's when they came out but when this one did I was a little turned off. However now I played it recently and it was fucking good. Good storyline. Good orchestral music as well.

  • Once you have TG Cid, it's game over. But it's fun to get Cloud in there as well.

  • 最高です。感動です。

  • Yep, certainly brings back memories, i'm so glad that when i rented this game, i immediately went out and bought it ^.^

  • Hell of a song to start a game with.

  • "Life is short... bury ! Stasis sword !"

"Earth's anger running through my arms! Earth Slash!"

"Bright light, shine down on bloody impurity! Holy!"

"Time has come...crash down on the wicked! Meteor!"

"Attack by the master of commandments! Zodiac!"

"Heaven's wish to destroy all minds...Holy Explosion!"

"Absorb power in the sky and strike! Lightning Stab!"

"Master of all swords, cut energy! Night Sword!"

"Brush off vanity and show reality! Ultima!"

  • @Eracleir i wonder why chants like that were excluded from the psp version, it makes me wanna but the original now

  • make fft 2 ffs

  • I've played tons of SRPGs, but out of all them I'd say the original Final Fantasy Tactics was, and still is, the most hardest. And I enjoy it because of that. FFTA is pretty much the only game in the bunch of strategic role-playing games that truly lives up to its genre.

  • Tiny heads.

  • animals are animals

  • @izlude2

Delita: What did you say you fucking wanker?

  • *so don´t ever stop

  • hey man , i´m telling you something !

don´t ever stop doing this !

you are doing a great job , really

you choose great video game music and you are awesome , son don´t ever stop doing this until you can

to some people your work might mean much but i consider it fantastic ! keep it up !

  • This is the ONLY game I've played through over 10 times and counting. They need to make a real sequel , not some shitty wannabe on the DS.

  • This game, even today, is the definition of Cutting the Edge.

Phenominal Music, even by today's standards.

Plotline is fantastic, and even disturbing. Banned in some places for it's religious overtones, and various "realities".

Gameplay was entertaining, and you get to use control the most over powered character ever designed. T.G.Cid makes the game to easy. :p

The characters are fantastic, the story is equally so. The music is a bonus, and could have made the game on it's own.

  • rented this when it first came out. I was only 10, didn't know how to switch jobs so I went all the way to chapter 2 using squires with base abilities..

  • Classic game.

When I first bought it, I thought you coudl choose to play the games Square had on the back of the book(like FFVII lol). Then I played the game and of course I was blown away, totally its own game.

And then after the first battle I would try to beat it with just Ramza because I didnt know you could press L1 and R1 to cycle throufh your army. Took me forever to beat that stage lol. And it was a rental too so I kept on renting it over and over lol.

I love this game. Best plot ever

  • @manashima

lol damn i thought i was the only one that didnt know about the L1/R1 to pick members i fell for that too!

  • @manashima I had the same problem! trying to beat the first level with only Ramza and Delita...possible, but ridiculously tough. Once I figured out how to form a party, it was probably the most enjoyable game I've ever played. Well, whenever I wasn't spending an hour getting through the text that appeared at 2 letters a second :P

  • Awesome game

  • Night Sword was OP

  • Burning Anger Rising... Burst! Wave Fist!

Armor won't help the heart stay sharp! Shellbust Stab!

Destiny lies in my hands! Stop movement! Galaxy stop!

Inscript the dark god into a rotting body! Flare!

Kupo! Round and round you go! Moogle!

And this game had one of these awesome phrases for every spell. Too cool.

  • I know I spent 10,000 hrs plus of my life playing this game.

  • Gafgarion:

"Master of all swords, cut energy! Night Sword!"

    *pwerreererwng...*

    *PSSHHHUUNG!*

    *cry of felled enemy*

Epic. Simply one of the best (and underrated) games of all time.

  • @rasalgethi999 Partially due to the story being somewhat hard to follow.

  • @jfachris I was thinking this game stirs the minds of the politically conscious (like me), with themes that still exist today. Maybe the other players of this game don't see the deeper message to this.

  • @rasalgethi999 well, there's the problem. Most of the people who play this game don't have a brain. They're used to 7, 8, 9, and 10, Which all had fun gameplay, But terrible story's. Especially 10 Not enough of anything to stretch over 40 hours. Turn of your brain and have the ride of your life.

  • @rasalgethi999

Can't believe some people still believe in "god" after playing this game.

  • I don't know why but this makes me think of a song from Xenogears...I don't remember which one but whenever I hear this song Xenogears pops up in my head...?

  • To my mind, this game has 3 of most epic RPGs characters ever created:

    Delita Hyral

    Agrias Oaks

    Cidolfas Orlandu

  • This game just never gets old. Just killing things and the sound they make when they die is epic. Lets see if I can recreate UaHaaaH

  • Best fight theme ever. The video response from that dude (?) kikoogay did a hell of a job too, watch it.

  • I was only 11 when I played this game. One of the multitude of games that defined SquareSoft and the PS1. At first I thought the story was too confusing and the difficulty was too much, but I realized that the gave was DEEP as Hell. One of the best games i ever played. This game was challenging as shit but fun as all hell. I swear this game had me using parts of my own brain I never even knew existed, all to get a chance to save my progress to a memory card again.

  • Delita was a pretty complex fellow. The ending still kinda pisses me off, lol.

  • Games Like FFtactics are underrated: Ghouls n ghosts Demon Crest Brain Lord Parasite Eve Mega man Legend 2 FFLegend 3 Dot hack 1-2-3-4 Dot hack GU 1-2-3 Xenosaga 1-2-3 Devil May Cry Onimusha etc....
  • you can add Earthbound(or Mother 2) to that list, i consider it the most underrated game ever

  • "Life is short...bury! Stasis sword!"

    *plingplingpling*

    waaaaughh!

  • yeathhhhh holy knight

  • @belgurdo Hahahaha! That made me burst out laughing!

  • @belgurdo haha don't you mean "Steady Sword?"

  • @Rodlikespants "Stasis Sword" is the original name of the holy swordskill. maybe the line "Life is short...Bury! Steady Sword" is accidently wrong written :3

  • @Scolerli198 Yeah, there were a lot of typos in the game, but I could care less, best SRPG ever created. The FFT Advance games are pathetic compared to this.

  • @belgurdo How could I've forget that?!?! hahaha man that REALLY was something!

  • @belgurdo OH~YEAAAAAH!!!!

  • @belgurdo Perfect! That's all I can say...

  • @belgurdo AHHAHAHAHA PERFECT!!

  • @belgurdo FUCKING EPIC MY MAN.

  • i want to buy this game on my PS3. i remember buying this game & then giving it up 4 credit & then buying it again & giving it up again. that was a big mistake as i love strategy & FF series. ~.~

  • The greatest game and soundtrack of all time. Dear god this game shaped me.

  • I absolutely a agree with you !!!! one of the many games underappreciated by the game press and ignored by the mainstream. my favourite game. Amazingly beuatiful game design. fantastic and absolutely fitting soundtrack. addictive gameplay due to the job system and one of the best stories (a quality comparable to xenogears). This game is and was an important part of my life ! Besides, this track is my favorite too. greetings

  • @FanofniceGameMusic Agreed wholeheartedly. This game shaped me as a person. I literally grew up with this game, and I don't think I'll ever outlive the impact it has had on me. My appreciation for storytelling, for music, for games and gameplay, for even moral or general values, were all shaped by this game. Hearing this reminds me of the first time I loaded it up and played it. "Don't blame us. Blame yourself, or God."

  • I can picture everyone walking in place getting ready to beat the shit out of each other. This game was pretty awesome but it sucked how the main character couldn't become a Holy Knight class. My team was always Holy Knight, Holy Swordsman, Divine Knight, Temple Knight, and then Samurai. lolz.

  • Man, when you have "Guts" as your class command, you need nothing else.

  • Indeed!

  • hahaha, I actually spent alot of frustration and time trying to figure out if there was a "secret" way of getting Ramza to become a Holy Knight. I remember seeing Delita become a Holy Knight, and was like WTF!!! Little did I know that it was all due to plot.

It sorta did give me a greater appreciation for the game though, because for once in an RPG the main character does not get any special abilities. (aside from Guts, but Guts is sorta meagre compared to the Holy Knight)

  • Die Algus Die!!

  • i can hear the shreek of a fallen enemy right now

  • Damn, hearing this makes me wish i could go back and play FFT for the first time all over again..

  • perfect castle battling theme :P

  • Fantastic! Best tactics game ever made!

  • IMHO the PSP version is Vastly Superior right down to the Translation and gameplay.

The only flaw it has is some minor slowdown that is easy to get used to.

  • It is not minor, it's huge. The gameplay is already slow by design, but the slowdown brings it to a crawl....it's purely crappy porting and there's no excusing it. Here's another flaw for ya (besides the sound)...the random spell casting chants from the original (which were great) were inexplicably removed. What's worse is that the characters still pause before casting as if they're going to say the chant. What's up with that?

  • Scatter your sharp chilly blades! Ice!

  • thats one thing that pissed me off about the psp version. The ps version didn't have ANY slowdown at all. I also don't like the sound of the psp version.

It also ticks me off that all the little glitches and bugs were removed like the job point glitch and the item duplication glitch.

  • @maximus451 You can actually just DL the original off of PSN for $5, that's what I did when my copy of WOL got stolen while I was on a flight. On that note, don't fall asleep on a plane to Detroit with things You'd rather not have stolen. I've had my PSP, stuff from my pockets, and 3 games nabbed from me that way before.

  • @skyrobotv whoa what the F! Sucks man :/

  • best final fantasy game i've ever played no doubt the battling, character building and story line were just unbeatable in many ways.

  • I know. Is anyone else disappointed by how childish FFTA was? I need another tactics that really made you think.

  • the gameplay was fantastic. But the story was different and good for what it was. FFT was essentially a Tactics Ogre ripoff. Down to many things.

    But i still love it.

  • @mysterymeat3 FFTA was a major kick in the balls for that reason. I still don't know what possessed them to make such a stylistic 180. I won't be happy til they make a story line sequel, a TRUE sequel. Maybe even a prequel - we still need to see just how the hell Olan became God himself *coughgalaxystopcough*

  • I remember playing the game for the first time on the ps1 in 1998. Final Fantasy Tactics was something else. To call the game a masterpiece is a HUGE understatement.

  • @LCash523 ya, totaly... i cought on to it via a friend towards the end of the ps1 life, but i still play it today (i got it emulated :D)

  • this game is awesome, i played it hours and hours on my ps1, the music, the battle system, the history, the dialogues,

    it was a masterpiece

  • I concur :P

  • The story of this game is one of the most complicated and interesting ever in a rpg.

  • I totally agree with you.

  • Incredible game, the PSP version messed it up :(

  • Want to elaborate?

Unless extra jobs, side quests, unlockable characters and a hell of a lot better translation seems to 'mess up' games for you, I don't see how the WoTL ruined FFT.

  • Easy.

WoTL was great, but they kidded down the dialogue.

The PS version did a lottt of hardcore church bashing. Enough for enough people to have gotten mad at Square to make them change most of the dialogue.

And the PSP version I feel is easier.

  • Alot of atrocities have been committed in the name of God. I personally think the Catholoc Church deserves the 'bashing' it suffered from this game and then some.

Then again, this game IS just called Final FANTASY Tactics.

  • ...and I'll bet all three people who +3'd me are TheAmazingAtheist fans...

  • If by "kidded down" you mean "made intelligible". Srsly, the plot's convoluted enough, please don't confuse the issue by TRANSLATING it badly. o_O

  • it's not easier.

  • I think the plot was actually very good. It was like an analogy to the kind of things that were really going on in the dark ages and even still to this day. Me, being an athiest, really enjoyed the games plot. Even if I wasn't I would rate it as better than any of the other games.

  • the PSP one has that gay-ass pseudo-Shakespearean non-English and that game ruining lag.

  • The dialogue, I didn't see any gameplay problems but I didn't even bother when they started saying thou. Feel free to disagree, but it means a lot to me.

  • Some people complained about the sound quality of the music. And it's simple really, The original was Sequenced sound played through the Playstation using Effects like Reverb. The sound is essentially the same minus the Reverb. This is what the sound samples sounded like RAW. And they did this for an obvious reason. With all the reverb listening through just the psp speaker you wouldn't be able to hear all the instruments clearly. They didn't do it with Full Stereo in mind

  • BS. That's like claiming the slowdown was deliberate, because you couldn't make out all the action at normal speed...the speakers can handle reverb just fine. You're also ignoring that the sound effects were garbage too...why the lack of reverb there? It was just a half-assed port with some new features tacked on and most of the charm removed. Not saying some of the new stuff wasn't nice, but there's no reason to take it over the original.

  • The better translation is worth it alone.

  • They should really bring this game to XBLA and PSN with online.

  • Having 5 on 5 matches with 2 people controlling their teams would be an awesome concept.

  • Easily the best game on the PSX, haven't wasted more hours on any game since (offline). There are better tracks on this OST, but this one is in the top 3 defo.

  • agrees on both points, i can never play too much of this game...its is a masterpiece.

"Antidote" is imo the best song on the soundtrack.

  • Haven't played FFT, but I have the soundtrack, and this track is just one example of its epicness.

  • Gafgarion=easy as fuck to kill in PSP, impossible to kill on Ps.

  • Weigraf was harder for me.

  • Worker 6, Cloud, Beowulf, and theres someone else but they are all secret characters.....don't get Mustadio killed.

  • (Night Sword)

    SHENENENENE......KA CHING!!!!!! AHHHHH!!!!!

    Great times.

  • Was it just me, or did they tone down some of the sound effects for the psp version?

  • Yeah, the death cries were lame, it felt like Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance >_>

In the original, the first time you hear the death cry a chill goes down your spine, it's awesome.

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL <3 Indeed. I love you how made the sound to that spell. I wish they leave the death effect "ahhhhh" in FFTA2 =(

  • @asteroidblues18

Yo, that was stasis sword from agrias

  • I remember this. They brought it back for psp... but I liek the original better.....

    especially over the fft:advanced

  • Anybody ever try to lose the first battle??? I've tried sooo many times but Gafgarion is unkillable...

  • I managed to kill Gaffy once, but by the time I did Agrias had thouroughly decimated the enemy group.

  • you have to run around and use wish on the enemies to keep them alive.

  • Gafgarion was pretty bad ass with that sword.

  • Ahhhh FFT.... what great classic!!! The music is really amazing.

  • pretty much my favorite game of all time

  • amazing game

  • and amazing music

  • Ahhh now all it needs is a sword critical strike and somebody screaming.

  • LMAO. Indeed my friend. Indeed.

Either that or Gafgarion's Night Sword.

  • great game, great song...

  • Who else spent hours hiring recruits with bravery and faith greater than 70?

  • ME!! :D so worth it hehe

  • lmao

    me

  • No one. That's what mediators are for.

  • Or Ramza at chapter 2 and forth, his Cheer Up from Squire raises brave by 5

  • Ramza and Delita and you kick ass either way also theres Cloud in this. This song is from Tactics not Tactics Advanced.

  • accumulate accumulate accumulate accumulate accumulate accumulate accumulate accumulate

  • *Sound of bow shooting and screen rotating*

  • *brave up!* de de doo

  • "If you don't believe Ramza, something horrible will happen to you.", is the moral of the story.

  • Man, I love Tactics Ogre! Oh wait...

  • Yet another epic game with an epic soundtrack. I phail at this game though

  • I feel sorry for Delita. Lol at Orran getting burned at the stake.

  • Ah, so glad tactics makes an appearance on this list.

This and Megaman X are best soundtracks in my opinion.

My brothers and I poured hundreds of hours into this game.

  • loladvanced

  • No, This is from the original, I'm 100% sure, since I played through that game at least 3 times. If this song was in FFTA, then it was borrowed from the original.

  • I wasn't talking about the video, I was replying to someone, don't know how my comment ended up here

The music from the video comes from FFT.

  • I played the original about 6 times, and I'm replaying it in the form of War of the Lions for the PSP. This song is definitely from the original.

  • "Life is Short! Bury..Steady Sword!"

  • 90% of the battles in this game is like playing a final boss in any of the other FF games, this game was so epic

  • I love this game.

  • too good, FFT is the greatest musical soundtrack out there, in my opinion the greatest game of all time.

  • This whole soundtrack is one of the best in the history of video games.
