  • great content. thanks

  • wow! indeed, informative.

  • Amazing how far this OS has come since its inception. Android went from being a laughably underpowered and faeture lacking operating system to becoming the #1 mobile operating system in the world. Incredible.

  • I work in a company were we do Iphone and android apps. Just looking at the code and the tools I figuere developing iphone apps is alot easyer and probuably more fun well Im still gonna do android as its a head thing for me and im not happy with the way apple does there politics...

  • very impressive management of linux kernel and hardware, impressive.

  • At [4:49] where subtitles say "[INDISTINCT] D-pad", it is "5-way D-pad".

Also, at the very end, where subtitles say "as the system of your choice", it is actually "as the system matures".

  • What is an API?

  • @toastofchaos666 Application Programming Interface. wikipedia it.

  • where can i download the ANDROID FIRMWARE i wish to install it in my mobile

    its a HTC TOUCH P340

  • look for it at xda-developers [dot] com forum :)

  • Wie ktoś kiedy beda pierwsze komórki z androidem? Bo system jest już ukończony podobno :D

  • i had a simmalar concept for a phone OS,good that their other people that think the same and are changing phone os's for the better.

  • The first phones that are going to have android programming on them, will be HTC Dream and a Samsung(unknown model name).

Both of these phones will be the first to take on the android programming. HTC phone is going to be the better of two, the proto looks like a Nintendo DS Design, except with a keypad and with a LARGE touch screen.

  • I don't think the concept for the dream is released yet, we're supposed to get that info May 6th, right?

  • Yes, around May time period, the three google phone concepts will be shown, including 1 from HTC, and two from samsung

  • I hope this becomes revolution in Mobile software.Google once again taking responsible role in the empowerment of open-source.

  • because this is not a phone!

to put it simply - its operating system for phone.

Phones that this runs on can be from anyone - Nokia, Motorola or even Apple :D

  • you're right,,, oops

  • Because "multi touch" is not an innovation created single handedly by apple, so there would be no reason why google would have to pay apple to use the same or a similar system.

  • Aoutch, hide and seek will have no purpuse anymore :)

  • this guy is good.

  • The Location Manager - although nothing new in its essence, would be great to implement, but if you don't have the GSP and you rely on the Cell IDs(as you mention) you still have to have a DB of the Cell IDs in your hometown - I doubt Google has implemented that in the Google Maps and the API...

  • that's gPs ofcourse

  • From playing aorund with the emulator and the SDK these guys behind Android didnt come on the last bannana boat theyl take care of business.

  • meaning??

  • I really like that concept and hope that Android will be deployed on a lot of phones. Not to forget to mention: Thank you Sun for giving us Java!

  • So Funny!!!

  • u r taking sides for whom again? my god u r all stupid. use it and make money or leave it alone in the first place... MS,APPLE or GOOGLE it does not matter

  • Good start. About Views, you mentioned two 'innovative' features. The one is the Map View which I find cool. The Web View however is far from innovation. Microsoft has already a WebBrowser control doing the exact same thing.

  • YEah? Well, at least you are able to actually do the things you want on your phone... Instead of being locked down by what the phone companies want you to do.

  • Ditto! According to Apple we developers aren't worthy or capable of developing for iPhone. Not to mention the electronic bricks fiasco. Apple is a conglomerate of cock suckers.

  • Hopefully this will force some kind of paradigm shift in the industry.

  • I fail to see how this is ripping off Apple and Microsoft - nothing shown here was ever conceptualized by them. They may have improved certain concepts, but never gave birth to them.

  • Ripping off of microsoft?!?!?! Did you watch the video of what android is based on?! Microsoft is shit! Windows Mobile is based on junk programming. Google used OpenGl and WebKit (which apple uses). Microsoft has no part in this because THEY CANT FUCKING PROGRAM! ANDROID IS FUCKING BASED ON LINUX.

  • No, YOU look at the facts. ANDRIOD IS BASED ON THE LINUX KERNAL. IT DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH MS OR APPLE. The only thing that is close of Apple is OpenGL, WHICH IS OPEN SOURCE.

  • Android is all OPEN SOURCE. Linux and OpenGL are OPEN SOURCE. Tell me why google would rip off MS (which is shit programming) or apple when they are trying to innovate and take a huge market share? Fuck, if they ripped off either company, I would pull the 10,000 shares I have in google out IMMEDIATELY.

  • @SerenadeEver

Sorry, but you clearly don't know what you're talking about. You are lost in the sauce. And I'm not even going to bother explaining why, because I doubt you would get it.

Now go be a quiet little layman.

Or at the very least, educate yourself on the subjects with which you desire to discuss.

  • Well, this was certainly more than I thought it would be. Very cool.

  • sweeeeet

  • Can't wait for it!!

  • so cool. hurry up you hardware guys... must. have. now.

  • amazing
