  • There's nothing like being an HBCU drum major, nothing..

  • Beautiful tribute. absolutely heartfelt.

  • bands haze simply becuz of lack of musicianship. people do not want to spend time helping others memorize music and moves but would rather pummel the individuals so they learn on their own.. its fear.

    JSU regards this as "motivation".

  • @Tockwork Hazing has different meanings. If its physical, its shouldn't be happening unless you are pledging which is essentially "hardcore hazing". I tried to pledge but I dropped out because its just stupid and pointless.

  • @Tockwork

Doesn't JSU still Haze/ deny that they haze? I've never been a hazing fan. I strongly believe in Right of Passage but you are right. However From my knowledge that my brother told me when he was in it was along the line of "Right of Passage". Kinda like when Professional players "haze" the rookies with harmless antics. It seems like it evolved into something that is not right. It sucks that this happened to my favorite College band.

  • robert's parents were at the honda banquet... it was a terrible feeling being in the same huge ass dining hall with ppl from bcu, jsu, tsu; who have been hazed.

  • This is so sad. R.I.P. Mr. Champion. What a tribute, FAMU! (JSU '86)

  • From what I heard the majority of the band aint like him cause he was gay & aint get no respect...now he dead everybody wanna say we miss you, R.I.P & all that, people so damn fake nowadays

  • @djunior2011 Say that again! I agree 100%

  • @toreal03 its a shame bruh

  • RIP ROBERT CHAMPION!!!!!

PRAYERS TO THE ENTIRE CHAMPION FAMILY DURING THIS TIME. IT SADDENS MY HEART BECAUSE THIS COULD'VE/SHOULD'VE BEEN PREVENTED-SIMPLE AS THAT!!!!!!!!!!! NO EXCUSE- NO EXCUSE

MY APOLOGIES IF I OFFENDED ANYONE BUT I PRAY JUSTICE BE UPHELD TO THE HIGHEST- ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!! RIP MR. CHAMPION

    NO EXCUSE- MY LORD!!!!!!!!

  • School Daze!!!!!

  • This young man was born in 1985.....it hurts me in the deepest crevice of my soul to hear of such an incident. What saddens me most is; the incident in its entirety could have been prevented. FAMU has fostered a reputation of violence....frat vs frat......football team vs frat.....pizza man wouldn't deliver on campus.......they didn't give me all of my grant money back.....I left.....went a another state univesity and call that my alma mater. UNF

  • took it way too far FAMU.I went to the 2011 classic and said forget any other school im going to FAMU because of how amazed i was by them last year and how much i wanted to be apart of that, then this happens!!! RIP Mr.Champion

  • the sad thing its never going to stop. because it been going on sooo long. ppls think its nothing wrong wit it. u in the band, frat or sor. no one deserved to be beating or die for those letters. my prayers goes to Robert family and friends. and any other ppls who lost their lives or love ones to hazing. hazing is everywhere. from schools to the armed forces. hazing will be here after we r dead n gone

  • Bus C ritual has been going on for years. As far back as the late 80's. This is something band directors knew for a long time and done nothing about it. Robert lost his life over pure foolishness but maybe he just stopped someone else from loosing theirs. Don't know if the 100 will ever be the same again but some changes has to be made.

  • I mentioned about Bus C a few days after Robert died and received several threats about that. As a matter of fact, on one of these tribute videos, someone said I was " saying too much". A band member finally came forward on local news and gave details about the " Bus C " ritual.

  • Really don't know what to do any more. Every since I was a little girl I have always wanted to be in this band and now I really don't know if I want to go. I'm so heart broken and torn right now over what happened to him. R.I.P Robert Champion even though I didn't get to meet you I'm pretty sure you were a great leader.

  • Why do the band students have such a strong need to feel accepted that they are willing to take such a brutal beating? Each of them made the band, so they should automatically be accepted. The band should be like family. Students don't feel accepted in their own band family any more?

What's so good about being in the "Red Dawgs" or "Crossing Bus C" that students are willing to get tortured to get in?

  • We are band parents ourselves and as this Christmas season unfolds, the family of this outstanding young man is in our thoughts. RIP Robert Champion.

  • to die by the hands of another band member.....there's no honor in that at all. FAMU yall not looking to good RIP Robert Champion

  • I am mortified by this hazing death! We must use this pain to push ourselves to new pinnacles of progression on this planet. Pray for the parents and pray for peace and love to empower us all so that the vileness of this incident never penetrates our society again.

  • Yes, its your choice if you walk it or not. You start in the front and you walk to the back. While walking to the back, you have people beating the hell out of you in the process. You can fight them back. The only rule is they can not hit you from the neck up. Notice the medical examiner said he had bruises on his chest, arms, legs, and stomach. No, he was not pledging k k sai. Yes, even drum majors go through it.

  • We are not a monolithic people. We might have our issue we must deal with but so does your race and every race on this planet, you know why? Because we are sinful human beings. RIP Robert Champion and may those who are responsible repent and confess their sin. Those of us in the Nothwest pray for the band members and their families.

  • Truthrevealed,I went to school at the University of Washington in the 70's and witness white fraternities doing all kinds of ungodly things yet i am not stupid enough to hold the entire white race against it. Humans by their very nature are capable of doing ugly things to one another simply because of their sinful nature. You are dead wrong in calling us savages, we are not a bunch of mono

  • This is a beautiful tribute to Robert Champion RIP GREAT LOSS!

  • Very touching video. My condolences go out to fellow bandmembers, family, and friends of this young man. This video was not posted to receive negative comments but to remember a very talented individual.Very great song selection both instrumental and vocally.

  • I'm so tired of hearing the same lie over and over again. He did not get hazed because he dropped his "mace". Robert attempted to walk that gauntlet on "Bus C" which ultimately cause him his life. He was close friend of mines and I'm sick of the lies.

  • Comment removed

  • @JavontaeRashawn i guess that means he tried to get down and now the conclusion?

  • @JavontaeRashawn my question is, did he have a choice to walk it or not?

  • Hazing needs to be eradicated.

  • we all know hazing happens, just some people take it becuz its viewed traditional in the band program... there are a lot of bands that don't allow hazing.

  • @chelle315 he was not a kkpsi pledge. Who told u that?

  • This is horrible and I was really considering attended Florida A&M for band after I graduate this year.. But I won't be now. Life is too precious and short for someone to have it taken away by doing what you love or people you love

  • @CarnellzOnlyLuva08 that's at any HBCu so watch out I went throught the same thing at Tennessee State University....The Marching Aristocrat of Bands made me give up on my passion Freshman year...at that time I was going on my 9th year in Marching...It still hurts bad to know I gave up.

  • This is a BEAUTIFUL TRIBUTE!!!! REST IN PEACE MR. ROBERT CHAMPION...

  • Sweet Sweet Champion... Rest In Paradise my dear.

  • To my dear Champion I love you and I miss you big bro you will forever be missed nit only by me but the Southwest Dekalb family love you & R.I.P -3

  • 7 heartless people should rot in hell forever. RIP Robert Champion.

  • Hazers should be crucified........

  • @AshlynD09 Hazing is looked at as a tool of discipline....but to be true it takes two to tango. Hazing can only happen to you if you allow to happen.

  • Im disgusted that somebody took the time and did this beautiful dedication and for grown men nd women to direspect it with these comments

  • Those individuals who disliked this video need the Lord.

From a member of The Marching Wildcats to The Marching 100, we're all family.

    R.I.P. Robert Champion

  • Those individuals who disliked this video need the Lord!

  • YOUR STEPS ARE ORDERED ROBBY ..... R.I.P. MY CHAMPION!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful tribute....RIP. Mr. Champion!

  • R.I.P Robert Champion smh , its a shame yu had to go this way

  • FUCK FAMU!! BITCH ASS MF'S!!

  • @cjzzzzz FUCK YOU!

  • @kethathrilla THANKS BUT NOT THANKS SKANK!!! LMAO

  • Please keep your racists comments to yourself . To label the whole black community as savages only shows how ignorant you are.

  • They need to cancel all band performances. These savages haven't learned their lesson yet. The obviously have the gang mentality, but that is how black people are. Just look around you.

  • @Truthrevealed21 you sound and mostly likely are very ignorant for that statement. To call African Americans savages is just racist and ignorant this is not the time or the place to make a comment like that the world would be alot better with out your ignorance. i hope one day you grow up and part ways with statements like that

  • This is frickin horrible that something like this would happen to a kid. This was Hazing? Sounds more like murder to me. I watched an interview on CBS & a guy said that all of the Saxophone players had their own gang name, as well as the other players. WTF? How can you be a musician and pull shit like this? This is insane & probably due to lack of Fathers/Dads in the community. There, I said it.

  • Touching tribute...

  • Beautiful tribute. May that young man rest in peace

  • SORRY FOR THE LOSS OF ONE OF YOUR GREATNESS. WE ARE KEEPING MR.ROBERT AND HIS FAMILY IN OUR PRAYERS FROM BENEDICT COLLEGE MARCHING BAND OF DISTINCTION

  • Sending my love and prayers from a NSU Spartan Legion alum. This affects us all. My heart is heavy and I never met him. We are all bandsmen and when one loses one, we all do.

  • From a PVAMU alum to the entire FAMU family and family and friends of Robert Champion, you have my condolences and prayers.

  • My Thouhgts & Prayers Are Lifted Up To The Heavens For The Family Of Mr. Robert Champion...

I Pray That This Is The Last Of Tha Foolishness

We Know Better So Please Let's Do Better

We're So Much Better Than That

  • Whether or not hazing is the reason why this beautiful young brotha" is gonw, I think it's time for all HBCU's to take a step back and figure out a new way of pledging KK Psi members without touching them. IMHO, pledging shouldn't be a part of marching band, you join the band because of your love for playing an instrument & music. RIP Robert I don't have to know you, to feel pain for what you went through and the ending result. Keep Rattlin' <3

  • @chelle315

Nothing is going to change because black people are savages. Look at Hip Hop, look at your black neighborhoods. You people are violent by nature and that is the way it is. You get a group of black people together and they form nothing more than a gang. It doesn't matter whether it is a band, a singing group or a football team. If they are black, they are going to act like savages. Why do you think so many niggas are in jail? Because you are savages.

  • @Truthrevealed21 Thanks to your ancestors....wouldn't you act like a savage if people were beating the hell out of you. It just went from generation to generation. White people shouldn't have been so damn evil back then, you reap what you sow.

  • @chelle315

Funny how you think you knew who my ancestors were. But let me remind you that it was the Africans that sold other Africans into slavery. And most of the African women were raped and you are the offspring of that. But you are still savage like the savages of Africa. The only people reaping what they have sown are you black people because you still haven't learned how to act. All you have to do is look at your communities and now your colleges too.

  • @Truthrevealed21 I "dislike" when ignorant white people like yourself(and I'm assuming your are...BOTH) log on and make it your business to try and degrade blacks."? Knowing d@mn well you wouldn't have the nuts to say any of this in person. “Remy”, from Higher Learning. For you to think that you white people are so supreme... WHY? Do you want Tans, full lips, curvaceous bottom sides, style, like "you blacks"? And those are just the material thefts- I'm done wasting my time on Internet Bigots

  • @kethathrilla It is kinda' funny that he refers to black people as savages, but the women in his community do everything they can to look like what they can never be.....

  • Comment removed

  • @Truthrevealed21 Are you intelligent enough to have a decent conversation without the name calling? It's a little difficult to remotely care about what your saying when you refer to a race of people as savages. If you can't speak like you have good sense, then maybe you can try to find somebody who actually cares about what you have to say, in all honesty, I DON'T.

  • It's sad that something as trivial as a dance routine could end someone's life! WAKE UPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i am so so sad my good friend robert champion is gone but definetly not forgotten this amazing human being has given so much too all that knew him from the countless dance competition in your family living room to the hilarious conversations with your mom and the amazing photography from your dad and the baggering of your sisters robert you will be missed tremedously champ i will always keep your spirit alive champ love ron2nd2none your big bro

  • RIP Brotha! i didnt know you but you seemed to be a great man, you strived for what you wanted and you were the best until u went to heavens gates! they needed an angel to lead the band in heaven! May you Rest in everlasting peace and harmony

  • A Job well done Robert

  • words can't express how much i miss you there will never be another like you i continue to pray for healing in the hearts of the family I love you Mrs. Pam, Brittany and Mr . Robert Sr. R.I.P. ROB unti we meet again my True Champion All Hail!!!

  • Hi,

I would like to do a video story for an international and national news outlet and would like permission to use some of these photos and any video you would have of him in the band. Please contact me at 404 520 2373

    Thank You

  • Lord comfort the family.

  • First let me say my condolences go out to the family, Its not natural for a parent to lose there child before they leave this earth. Now I should also like to bring to everyones attention that to make the assumption that this is a form of hazing is rediculous, first of all it doesnt even fit into this situation. He was a drum major, im pretty sure to even qualify to be a drum major you have to be in the band for a period of time, meaning he was not a freshman nor a sophmore why would he be hazed

  • Very nice tribute. My condolences go out to the family. I hope this open the eyes of all HBCU marching bands. I am a former SCSU 101 member...trust, i know what its all about. Which is nothing good. Its sad it took the losing of this man life to get the attention of the HBCU community about the hazing situation. I will not be surprised if the president loses his job and that the school loses their accreditation. Simply because this is not the first time FAMU has went down for hazing.

  • @whatanightmare1 The MEDICAL EXAMINERS determined whether it was foul play during the autopsy.

  • Such a sad story...I have been reading up on it, and I'm still wondering how they have come to the conclusion that it was definitely hazing that caused his death. I have a daughter in college, and these type headlines always catch my attention. So sorry to this young man's friends and family.

  • Beautiful dedication, so sad

  • sad....suspension is the right way to go until the guilty party comes forward. On Roberts behalf I hope hazing wasn't the cause but if so everyone involved should pay which I'm sure will be a Class III Felony charge. These childish acts of hazing have to stop, hopefully this was an eye opener. HBCU's yes ----> HBCU's need to do better...

  • R.I.P Robert you will be missed bruh.!

  • 1st thing 1st My prayers go out to his Mother who has to watch her son go to his final Half Time Show. For No excuse or no man being fired can Ever feel the hole in her heart.I being a fomer BCU Marching Wild Cats / Kappa Kappa Psi feel as we all have last a good friend. I do hope it was no foul play CAUSE it is funny how HBCU only get main stream (CNN..etc) media when it is neg What about all the lives that have been turned around

  • This tributre in no way can bring Mr. Champion back to his family or erase the events. Yet it reaches the heart of Rattlers everywhere regardless of opinion. It shows the true character of our foundation. My first day on campus the phrase "Education without salvation is strictly information" resounded my spirit as it does today. Rattlers God has blessed us thus far because we kept Him in the forefront, It is only when we turn that His hand is lifted.

Thank you "100" for expressing love

  • May God bless Robert's Family. This is wrong,..........we have to learn as hbcu's we dont need added bad publicity because they are already watching us. This Death does not effect just Famu but all hbcu's for years to come.

  • To the comment below about "why punish the entire band?"...silence is deadly. Granted there may be some innocent folks who didnt have a clue about the hazing that occurs, but 9 times out of 10 majority of them went through it. It shouldn't have taken someone's demise for it to come to the light. Silence is as guilty as hazer(s).

  • Couldnt help but cry. Im very saddened by this entire situation and very disappointed at the same time. It sickens me!

  • RIP BRO! ON BEHALF OF THE OMICRON CHAPTER OF RED DAWG ORDER, INC. (STILLMAN COLLEGE) YOUR FAMILY IS IN OUR PRAYERS AND WE PRAY THAT THE WORLD WILL REMEMBER YOU AT YOUR BEST AND DURING THE GOOD TIMES. YOU WON'T BE MISSED BECAUSE THE GOOD THINGS ARE WHAT WE WILL REMEMBER OF YOU AND BE OF COMFORT TO US WHEN WE BEGIN TO MISS YOU... WE LOVE YOU ROBERT D. CHAMPION!!!

  • R.I.P my brother. Its going to be hard not seeing you at the band jamboree in May 12', God had a better plan for you. I just thank God for the time we had marching at Southwest Dekalb. We didnt deserve that much time with you but he granted it to us anyway. R.I.P my friend and hopefully I will get the chance to see you once again. Your friend always, Rashawn Stanford

  • I have cried over this young man as if I knew him personally and for some reason I feel like I do,it might be because my daughter is a student and FAMU and this has been her dream like alot of the other students past and present. The dream that Dr.Foster had was a success,we can say so, because The Marching 100 is the best band in the nation...What has taken many years to build has been put in the news as a disaster it it took just one day for his dream to become a nightmare.R.I.P MR.CHAMPION

  • R.I.P Mr.Robert Champion you was a great musician and leader, you will truly be missed.

  • Lord this video right here touched me. I didnt feel the sorrow until now. I truly pray for this boy family that God gives the comfort and he make the situation right, not just for him but for everybody who is involved and lives will be affected. It breaks my heart to just think about the feeling or the beating he had at the time to cause him die.

  • I'm a current member of The Spartan Legion Marching Band my condolences go out to all Roberts fam and friends I can't imagine wat y'all goin thru but just kno god got it under control...from one band fam to another

  • ima miss you cuz i know its some shit foul out their i know you cuz but march on with god

  • My thoughts and prayers go out to the Champoin family.

  • sorry to see you go rob,

    may u rest in peace

lots of love to the Champion family

    from mine

  • RIP my frat brother. RDO DCS. Condolences to his family and the M100 from the MarchINg Maroon & White of Alabama A&M University.

  • SO sadd whoever kause this will payyy, best believe all debts are payed above in Heaven, R.I.P.

  • @DatBoiLow4 Getting pleasure out of beating someone is sadistic.

  • RIP Robert. Condolences to his family.

  • -teary eyes- I'm only 16 and I planned on marching here but much love nd this was really touching smh /:

  • RIP! Seriously my condonlences goes out to his family! But what I wanna know is why is the ENTIRE band being punished? If the incident occured on that 1 bus why not just expell the students on the bus he was on. Cutting the entire program is not fair to those students who didnt do anything. And not to mention the band was how alot of ppl were paying for school. Its not right for them to punish ppl who was not even on the bus. Irregardless RIP!

  • @DipsetBack09 - Sometimes it is not that easy to punish the one bus that he was on. I agree that the entire band needs to understand the consequences that come with hazing. We're talking about a habit that has existed before I went to FAMU. It's good for the Music Department to have all performances cancelled to get to the bottom of the problem. As with a cancer that grows: "It does not make sense to cut around some parts of the cancer - sometimes you have to cut out everything around it."

  • We'll miss u robert. I go to fam. I only met him once but still what they did was messed up.

  • I pray for the family and friends of this young man. Its such a tragic but God don't make mistakes. His life obviously shined bright into others. Hopefully a lesson is learned if hazing was ideed involved...

  • THAT WAS A TOUCHING AND MOVING TRIBUTE!! PRAYERS FOR HIS FAMILY AND FOR HIS COLLEGE FAMILY AS WELL.....

  • Thank you for the beautiful tribute. My condolences to his family and the FAMU family as well. God help us all to be better.

  • R.I.P Robert Champion from a Jaguar Fan of Southern University. The HBCU family is sad and hurting for you.Gone but NEVER will be forgotten.

  • I knew Robert waay before his FAMU days. Its such a tragedy that words cant even describe. If hazing was the cause of death, the FAMU band should be shut down completely

  • Even though I am a Bethune Cookman man, I give my heart to the FAMU & Champion family. I go to the Florida Classic in Orlando every year mainly for the bands. It is sad, because this guy was dancing his ass off having fun and 12 hours later, he is dead. Man, can you imagine going somewhere, but somebody not returning back with you? RIP Bro Champ..!!

  • R.I.P Robert u r truly miss but neva fa qotten

    #mr.drum.major

  • This was a Beautiful tribute ...!!!!!!!!

  • Who is the dude whose singing this version of this song. Order My Steps To Your Word?

  • @AsKin561 This is a female, named Star. Cant place the last name right now.

  • @broman9tre Its a girl who did this in 2002.

  • @AsKin561 female band member at the time named Star

  • @broman9tre Her Name is Star Swain

  • @falconfan1990 Oh ok, thanks for letting me know. She can definitely sing!!!! Does she have a YouTube, Facebook or Twitter page?

  • RIP Robert. My prayers and condolences to his family. He was a very nice and well-mannered person. I can tell you now that FAMU's campus is different. The music is gone. No one practicing their instruments. No percussion section yelling cadences. The atmosphere is sad - as it should be. I just hope something can be done about hazing - which seems to permeate HBCU campuses. This is not the legacy of the M100 that Dr. Foster wanted to leave. RIP Robert. We miss you.

  • @aseifa77 yea ever since that everythings changed. im usually in the architecture building but ive still noticed it

  • @bhlargh270 Never realized how musical our campus was until now. It's too different.

  • @aseifa77 ikr. i play guitar but shoot the whole campus is different

  • @bhlargh270 Yes, it is. Just feels "weird."

  • @aseifa77 Please do not make this a "HBCU" issue, it is a human issue!!! I wish people would use their education to EDUCATE THEMSELVES about issues like this instead of speaking from ignorance. White people brand, haze, etc. too! Hazing has occurred in a variety of settings and conditions(even POW camps), as well as in various countries(not just the USA), under a variety of names. SMDH people please get it together. Proud Rattler Class of 1995 and 2006

  • @JOY2LOVE4LIFE First off, I know white people do this. You think there'd be an anti-hazing law if Chad Meredith hadn't died? And I hope you're not trying to call me ignorant on the sly. All the politics of race and hazing I learned at FAMU. I even have to investigate hazing as that is my career. Trust me, all these things you're yelling at me about education I know. Proud Rattler Class of '99. We Rattlers need to be sticking together now more than ever - not denigrating and yelling at each other.

  • @aseifa77

Well....you might lend your voice to unity by not playing the race card. C'mon, you're bigger than that.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheHurlco I think you're trolling this page looking to start a war as I've looked at your page and have seen other things you're written. You are correct. I am bigger than that and this comment. My condolences to the Champion family. Robert, I hope you can begin resting in peace soon. Rattler nation, please continue to support our school.

  • @aseifa77 correction - other things "you've" written...

  • @aseifa77 You couldn't be more incorrect. I'm a musician who cares about a young cat cut down in his prime. Nothing more, nothing less. There's no need to project anything.

  • @TheHurlco You may care, but I knew him - and trust me, it hurts. As for playing the race card, in my original comment, I stated "hazing seems to permeate HBCU campuses." Others replied to me stating white people do this and white people haze. I don't understand your logic in stating that I am playing the race card.

  • @aseifa77 Well, maybe I read you wrong and have no problem admitting that possibility.

"Though sorrow may last for a night...joy comes in the morning". Not to minimize anything, but my sense is Robert has joined that heavenly choir is banging away on his drum for the King. Sorry for your loss.

  • @TheHurlco Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate that. If I accused you of doing something you didn't do, I apologize as well. Thanks for your condolences.

  • Comment removed

  • @aseifa77 PS since you bring up career, as a clinical psychologist I can say hazing is a human issue not a black issue. Making it a black issue is harmful and causes stigma to be placed on black people as if this is some how inherent having more melanin than others. We should be asking the question of why do people haze, allow themselves to be hazed, watch in silence or join when others are being hazed. And this question doesn't require the discussion of melanin!

  • @JOY2LOVE4LIFE Who ever told you my degree(s) are not in psychology as well? This is not something you have to explain to me. Trust me, I learned enough about black issues and what is harmful and what is not. You don't have to explain to me like I'm a child, but thank you.

  • @aseifa77 Sigh please check out the appeal to authority fallacy. Since you brought up your "career", as some how supporting your position, I felt the need to indicate mine. Also it does not logically follow that my offering my actual career title then means I am saying you are not a psychologist, although I doubt it. I did it to avoid falling victim to the same faulty reasoning you did. And for the record, I am not educating you, I am using my education to reply logically, there is a difference!

  • @aseifa77 its a problem is college life nationwide and its worst in other schools thats not HBCU but its sad you go work your butt off to go to college to better yourself and that whats yo have to deal with its just sad and i feel canceling any music on campus is the best decision to make. LET THIS BE A LESSON TO ALL COLLEGES..IS IT WORTH IT?? To champion's family and to the campus of FAMU keep your head high my prayers go out to you all

  • @NDOGG26 I know hazing is a problem nationwide. I know plenty of white people haze as well. I'm just wondering why people hang on to that one sentence I wrote when I'm expressing my condolences to Mr. Champion - whom I knew- and expressing my feelings about what Dr. Foster put into the M100. As a FAMUan, I am hurting for my school and the Champion family. Thank you for the well-wishes for my fallen comrade and our university though. My heart hurts and I wrote from my pain. Sorry to offend.

  • @aseifa77 your not offending me im just saying that everybody (media mostly) is making it seem only HBCU school have cases like this severe and its not the case i was saying it for everybody else to be aware i wasnt directly talking to you im sorry if i offended you im hurting too my family grew up around FAMU i know it hard seeing something like this happen.

  • @NDOGG26 Thanks. I'm sorry I snapped at you. I still think they're focusing so much attention on FAMU to take the pressure off of Penn State, but that's just my opinion. At least, I'm seeing a lot of support for FAMU and the Champion family and that's good :).

  • @aseifa77 Naw...they killed a man and it was because of hazing. The band students on Bus C killed him.

  • @aseifa77 We are FAMU and we will be a better place for having experienced Robert Champion. His legacy must be one of change among the students who have allowed this barbaric "tradition" to linger.

  • @smoochesmom1991 Thank you, I appreciate those words :).

  • I don't even care for the 100 no more after hearing and seeing this. It's sad that this family have to bury their love one the Thanksgiving weekend!

In the name of the FATHER, SON, and HOLY SIPRIT!! Amen

  • R.I.P I ask that God bless your soul & that he gives all your Love Ones peace of mind & peace of heart!

  • We Love you Mr.Champion

From Your SWD Band family, We Love you!

    RIP

  • prayers out to the Family here in atlanta Ga area from a family from the Orlando Fl area....

  • I don't know you, just heard about what happened from other band members across the eastern sea board.. RIP Mr. Champion! May God bless this family and comfort them through this time of bereavement.

  • Hubba Freshman Bruh! We love you boy! R.I.P.

  • smh its a shame how they can haze people with no problem all because he dropped it by accident..so you gota kill him/...R.I.P robert champion

  • @izzylicious567 thats not what happen

  • From a mother of a former Drum Major from Stephenson HS to Robert Champion's family, his fellow Drum Majors, and his extended band family, both FAMU & SWD, God give you strength and peace. Robert is resting in the arms of his Saviour Jesus Christ. To the others that write comments, let them be positive about his school and band. Being a leader, which a Drum Major is, he would not want his life's ending to cast any type of harsh thoughts towards what he loved. Psalm 23:1 - The Lord Is...

  • THIS IS A VERY MOVING VIDEO! Im actually in tears and i didnt know him .

  • "To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord" My heart goes out to the family. Nobody wants to bury their child. His death seems senseless, but God knew best..

  • I don't know him but this is really sad and just reading everyone comments shows how good of a leader he was..sucks that his life is gone too soon...it was just his calling from Jesus telling him and everyone else that he was ready for him...I'm praying also for FAMU marching 100 because whatever the circumstance is you can blame all to what has happened just go after the Staff but everybody just pray about this and hopefully the peace that Famu will eventually get..to god be the glory

  • FROM A BCU "WILDCAT" TO FAMU "RATTLERS" WE MAY BE RIVALS AT THE CLASSIC BUT OUTSIDE THAT WE ARE JUST ONE BIG FAMILY.... FROM MY FAMILY TO YOURS WE'RE PRAYING FOR PEACE AND COMFORT THAT ONLY GOD CAN GIVE AT THIS TIME!!! GOD BLESS.... REST IN PEACE ROBERT!!!

  • way too sad!... Why did it happen?

  • Man I remember hanging out with you and seeing all of your enthusiasm throughout the years we marched together in high school. You used to eat, drink, sleep and live band. Its extremely sad you had to die because of it. I send my condolences to you, your friends and your family.

  • Very nice.... A man lost his life...keep the negative comments to yourself.

  • Rest in peace, young man.

  • Rest In Peace Mr. Champion! Not a FAMU alumni or anything but from the heart of a Centralian (Central State University)(HBCU's stand up)
