  • What a good song ans a great video, the staw, the candle, and everthing else even the look of the girl listening to the song, it should be on the must see of every directors wanna be, in the movies and videos.

  • Video and music are gorgeous. Love it, love it.

  • the dream ha? How come Orientals and Native Americans don't sing the blues and rap of conquering the white house and america?

  • this was filmed on his tour of britain i think, did america know this guy, when asked who the beatles wanted to see when they were in the U.S they said muddy waters, the guy says where's that? such great music comes from america, i love the way america and britain bounce musical ideas off each other blues rock n roll country comes over to britain, beat and heavy rock/metal goes back to america,if there's a "special relationship" its music, constantly blazing a trail, invasions of sonic armies

  • an absolut 10000% vergy good v idero...... og my god, thats so very god.....

  • My take on this music;

    It makes me feel good.

  • yeah to bad we want wake up from this Obummer dream. Big Bill would have made a much better president. 3 down hopefully only one more to go. Keeping my fingers crossed 14 trillion and counting.....................Beautiful song.

  • @blindbird42 Every idiot's opinion carries equal weight. Ain't the internet great.

  • With the publication of "I Feel So Good" (Riesman) and the NPR coverage, let's hope for renewed interest in the music of this great man and musician, and so many others like him.

  • ANDRIA-NICE COMMENT! I HAVE THE SAME HOPES YOU DO.

  • He's singin like hell... but he's still real cool

  • fuck polititians to death. how the fuck DARE they!!!!!!!!

  • Sing about it but never ever give up on yourself or music.the music industry gave up on truth long time ago but the heros ARE out there. not even out there...everywhere!..within and amongst!.. belief is a powerful thing.good people find good people. if you and yours arent happy with "popular" noise, ask yourselves...what am i prepared to do about it?!!this mentality may also be applied to anyone who dictates to you how you are "supposed" to live. much peace brothers and sisters.

  • big bill broonzy was from an era where ordinary folk didn't know much about the Real political games going on. In this day and age, its unfortunate to see people so distracted by the false paradigms of left and right, black and white. its all about whether you have a shit ton of cash, or your broke and busted. doesnt matter whos in the presidents chair anymore, could be black brown white asian indian, the real power is in the bankers, and they are going to fuck you up your asshole any time.

  • @CanadianFolkBlues lol its sad cause its true

  • @CanadianFolkBlues your critique of the REAL issue is one of the most valuable pieces of wisdom I have ever stumbled across online..

  • @theurbanmusicologist ahaha, perhaps not the most eloquently put, but it seems to get the point across! take care

  • @CanadianFolkBlues

    notice the orientals don't bitch and plan and train their kids to pray to god to take over the white house . . . ;

  • Not to be picky...but where's the connection between Broonzy and Obama? Please don't reduce people to just skin color.

  • @PeluMaad broonzay wud kick obamas azz

  • @PeluMaad

If Big Bil wold suddenly walk the earth if he saw Obama, he would break into tears! Tears of Joy! I am not totally happy with Obama but as a nation, God we are going in the right direction if the GOP doesn't put us back in the gutter

  • @jleoblues ...I know exactly how you feel and I agree completely. Broonzy and Josh White sang about the "race" thing before the Civil Rights era and they couldn't help but be elated by Obama.

  • Not to be picky...but where's the connection between Broonzy and Obama?

  • so much soul, That howlin shiverrrs me 2 the bone

  • the scales he uses are very chromatic, wish i had his licks

  • i really hate these stupid staged performances. so much important fotage wasted for some wanker director to show how clever he is.

  • Videos of BBB, of this genius are so so rare. And what are we seing ? A women we don't care, the floor, bottles etc. It makes me sick !

But the song is so great...

  • Not my personal favourite performer, but this is a great performance

  • Barack Obama's name should not be mentioned in the same sentence with a musician with the integrity of Big Bill Broonzy.

  • lol why you gotta include obama, Broonzy would have seen right through that liar.

  • maybe technology wasn't what it is today..but i could almost believe back then those were the better days!!!

  • here's the trick.. i clicked to mp3ifier.com to convert youtube videos to mp3s.

  • fabulous!!!

  • Does anyone know how tall bill was?

  • @sigmund5 no nobody ever met him!!

  • What an amazing piece of cinema!

  • Fresh song... BBB's holding it down!

Just as a side note, you shouldn't be fooled be Barack.. All respect that there's a mulatto in the white house, but the president ain't the one in control.

  • @holm81

I agree! It will be the people all over the country who will make a dream come true -- more than a single man can do.

  • @RedKhandro Yes that too, definetly.

But I was just pointing out that in the US, the corporations are really running the show. Not as much the president.

  • I don't know how you found this old film, but I glad someone saved it. He could really sing with soul, and that is not easy.

  • fuck this guy is good

  • music has no color!! long live Big Bill Broonzy

  • @JeremyAlan21 yeah it does, that color is BLUE

  • you ever hear sonny & brownie's cover of this? pretty good!!

  • What a contemporary film style for 1956 :O

Blues is in my roots , man. My Brother and I, when we were kids, took a -serious- trip all around the south from Memphis, Mississippi, and Arkansas, finding every Blues relic we could, and playing at a blues bar every night.

Big Bill Bronzy is definitely an influence.

  • Great vid! Big Bill Broonzy was the first great ambassador of blues in Europe. Before he died he introduced Muddy to his already solid fanbase there. He almost singlehandedly inspired the British blues movement.

  • Thank You!

  • Thank you!

  • awesome

  • i love the blues.. all the older stuff. Robert Johnson,Bukka White, Blind Lemon Jeferson. etc.

I just heard Big Bill Broonzy tonight for the fist time, and i'm surprised i haven't heard this guy yet! he's great!

  • he was supposed to be an influence on Paul McCartney--big in the 50s in the UK

  • @mymusicdiscovery

    Interesting.

Mick Jagger on Larry King's show the other day also said that Big Bill Broonzy was a big influence on him, Jagger.

  • @mymusicdiscovery "He was" for sure

  • Blues is commin back baby, john mayer (however shitty he is) is commin back to blues, he played with buddy guy back in the day!

  • big bill broonzy has such talent where are all the heroes now? All the you get these days are fucking poncy boy bands doing back-flips and cartwheels on stage. Must pay homage to BBB

  • heroes? all dead

  • @MrLeadbelly ahah well put

  • What is so sad is that Big Bill died in 58-59 from surgery (Lung Cancer) I guess nobody at that time was aware of the terrible consequences of cigarette smoking.

  • While I apreciate the film style, I wish they would have focused on Bill more. This clip is a great document on the Era that Bill's revival occured and the response. Which seemed to be a hit with Europeans at the time.

  • this is the vid eric clapton talks about alot when he mentions his first exposure to the blues

  • is everyone missing the joke in the end?

  • Awesome.

  • This look like a old video Germany.

  • very sad song and so true, just like all other bbb songs

  • BBB........the best.

  • Every president should have a blues singer to assist with policy.

  • Amen to that!

  • Indeed. These bloodsuckers in office do need some roots.

  • YEah... baby!

  • @WillShade HAHA! Thats great!

  • @WillShade Word. A blues singer or a poet.

  • @WillShade might as well just elect them as president!!!

  • @WillShade most presidents should be shot and replaced with real people such as this dude!just a dream!

  • Check out worrying you off my mind, a cover of big bill by LAZYTWO.Well worth a play

  • Thanks for posting just as the White house dream becomes a historical reality.

  • there's a white house dream?

  • nightmare!

  • yea. there is a white house dream. its called controlling all the citizens by stupefying them by dumb tv shows and movies, mcdonalds and putting pesticides in our food, scaring them with b.s. epidemics and terrorist propaganda color codes, and taxing them without representation to pay off the federal reserve interest we borrow on the money they print. 40% of federal income tax goes to it. Don't matter if its black or white, its the white house dream. WE ALL SHOULD HAVE THE BLUES

  • exactly.

  • But when I woke up...let's have it!!!

  • are they smokin' reefers ?

  • i AM CERTAIN THAT WHAT tHAT YOUNG GIrL WAS ENJOYING WAS a kind of tobacco where you hold your breath for a bit and slowly let it out while allowing the eyelids to fall while a dulling apppearance in the eye itself so don`t worry ...jus`s dont`t

  • I've seen this entire concert film. It's beautiful beyond words.

  • well it was just a dream....

    Danm that is real blues...

I remember seeing those clips i stevie ray's little wing tribute video as a kid and not knowing where they came from...Thanks a ton..

  • great job!

  • Outstanding. Thanks for posting.

  • the directing of this video makes you feel more and more drunk as the song goes on.... its neat

  • i aggre with funkspiel, cleanhead has a good version of this song :)

big bill broonzy is great, love his voice, his guitar-play, his music!

  • I hope it will cos men of peace like Big Bill Broonzy have a bigger voice than men of war. Glad to see troops are now going to be withdrawn.

  • I also thought of him on Inauguration Day, but his song about Jim Crow Laws (Black, Brown and White). This country has changed a lot in the past 50 years, hasn't it?

  • Cleanhead Vinson does a good version of this, too.

  • Nice footage of a great song by a great man. I agree with your sentiment about the lyrics- they were prophetic in the end, at a time when Broonzy or any other black Americans couldn't even get served in a reataurant in most of America. That was indeed just a dream. Shame on those racist bastards, and I say that as a white man. Shame on anyone with a prejudice against others because of race, religion or anything else. Its a new dawn, and fuckwit's gone! Hope Obama delivers. Good luck USA!

  • Thank you! big bill is the best!

  • THANK YOU

  • Big Bill was a gentle man who hated no-one,yet he was denied access to restuarents and clubs many times due to the colour of his skin.Even on tour in England he was refused a stay at a nottingham hotel. He always grinned and shrugged his shoulders and moved on.Great guy, great singer, great guitarist

  • Yes!

  • ditto!!!!love it
