You're fighting a dark wizard in the courtyard of a cathedral while he summons almost every enemy in the game to your location. Not to mention you're already battered and bruised from the 123123k enemies you fought outside in the meteor shower.

@DarkShadowRage2 They did a better job with HD in The First Encounter. In The Second Encounter's HD remake they changed a lot of things I didn't like as much, such as removed the "God beams" coming down over the Grand Cathedral, which was very mood-setting and part of the atmosphere I remember, as well as took out all the trippy bits where you can run on the "walls" or "ceiling" in the later South American levels. :(

I liked it too. It had the comedy of Serious Sam 2, but kept the badassery of the First and Second Encounters. The time periods were classic choices too, not to mention the era-unique monsters and fancy secrets added to the entertainment value. Although, I was disappointed with the lack of certain weapons, like the pump-action shotgun, and there were certain parts, mostly in the levels, that weren't quite... done properly enough. Other than that, it was a great game! ;)

when serious sam 2 came out me and my dad rushed to the store :P during that time i was also playing half life and halo but liked serious sam a lot

because back then half life was hard for me to solve the puzzles and stuff because i was a kid. i still love these games to this day. and hope for part 3

In that top 50 many great series were missing mainly because they asked the players themselves (probably some 12-year olds), not the critics/developers. It smelled like a popularity contest to me.

What's bad about the Serious Sam games is that they're mostly popular here in Europe, nowhere else. :C

Serious Sam Classic: The first/second encounter got released in 2002, First ever game of Duke Nukem got released in 1991.
