My guess is that Obama was probably speaking to the late-night-TV-viewing audience and figured that's the kind of thing they tuned in to hear. Late-night comedians make those kind of jokes all the time, and Obama probably figured that the people watching Jay Leno would find that joke funny. He was trying to connect with a different portion of the voting population and probably thought a politically incorrect joke would appeal to them.
That was a joke the President definately should not have made. It looked as if he knew it just as it was leaving his mouth. However, I certainly do not think he even remotely meant any disrespect with his attempt at at humor. I personally take no offence to it as it was clearly not meant to be hateful. Environment- C IMO stimulus should have been mostly spending on renewable energy cont.
If nothing is done on environment and lowering consumption our grandchildren's grandchildren will be left with a barely habitable world- if you don't believe me read 'hot, flat, and crowded' also cap-and-trade failed, but that isn't his fault I blame congress.
Spending- B- People who complain about his spending obviously don't realize we are in a recession, our healthcare system is moot, and that it really isn't his fault as far as spending goes. It's the congress that passes the bills.
The president can't do too much if he doesn't like a spending bill- vetoing would just slow the process and the remade bill probably wouldn't be any better than the first.
National defense- B, not because he isn't defending the country well, but because he needs to seriously cut defense spending. Stand up to those guys and slash their budget in half. More than half of the money that goes into defense is wasteful.
Honesty- A-, contrary to popular conservative belief, Obama tells the truth. There are some cases where he doesn't tell the whole truth.
Overall grade- B+ does a great job with what he has, and with a senate full of nut jobs and a mindless republican opossition, he has his hands full. I couldn't expect much more from a president. He is a good speaker, charismatic (IMO he isn't but others think he is) and he has good intentions. I think more experience would have helped though.

My guess is that Obama was probably speaking to the late-night-TV-viewing audience and figured that's the kind of thing they tuned in to hear. Late-night comedians make those kind of jokes all the time, and Obama probably figured that the people watching Jay Leno would find that joke funny. He was trying to connect with a different portion of the voting population and probably thought a politically incorrect joke would appeal to them.

he really didnt know that it was a bad comment at the time, if you were being watched by millions apon millions of people i believe you wouldnt think that well too...i forgive him.

My grade on obama's first 6 months-
Healthcare- B needs to fight the battle. Challange those corporate suck up 'blue dog' dems. More like 'red elephant democrats IMO
Economy- C Stimulus needed work. Unfortunately republican opposition in congress had no reasonable alternative or advice, not to mention they helped load it with pork and added worthless tax cuts. Would give D but not entirely his fault.
Environment- C IMO stimulus should have been mostly spending on renewable energy cont.

If nothing is done on environment and lowering consumption our grandchildren's grandchildren will be left with a barely habitable world- if you don't believe me read 'hot, flat, and crowded' also cap-and-trade failed, but that isn't his fault I blame congress.
Spending- B- People who complain about his spending obviously don't realize we are in a recession, our healthcare system is moot, and that it really isn't his fault as far as spending goes. It's the congress that passes the bills.

The president can't do too much if he doesn't like a spending bill- vetoing would just slow the process and the remade bill probably wouldn't be any better than the first.
National defense- B, not because he isn't defending the country well, but because he needs to seriously cut defense spending. Stand up to those guys and slash their budget in half. More than half of the money that goes into defense is wasteful.

Honesty- A-, contrary to popular conservative belief, Obama tells the truth. There are some cases where he doesn't tell the whole truth.
Overall grade- B+ does a great job with what he has, and with a senate full of nut jobs and a mindless republican opossition, he has his hands full. I couldn't expect much more from a president. He is a good speaker, charismatic (IMO he isn't but others think he is) and he has good intentions. I think more experience would have helped though.

hahaha the "spendulus" packgage was fought by republicans bc they said it was too much and there was too much pork. they wanted to cut the pork. get your facts straight bc your sources are obviously idiots.
