Might be a dumb question, but how do you add notes into a solo without making it sound different? I've tried doing that (in the correct scale) but it doesn't sound faster, it just sounds like something completely different.

If I wanted to hear the solo played like Marty played it, I'd listen to Marty play it... In a cover... I'm interested in getting to know _you_ through how you change the music you play. So if you ask me? Different is good. Because different - is you :)

The sections you played differently still had the same general sound of the original section but a different feel to it. I am fairly good at improvising but if I try to add my own feel to a solo I just ruin it entirely.

nice skill, very good, but it doesn't sound like the original. I don't mean you don't have the skill to perform it, it's just you chose other techniches (like in some parts that you rather do echonomy picking than arpegios or making the vibratos with the bend bar, something I specially dislike)

I think it has more merit to make it sound like the original, with all the bands and vibratos and apregios, rather than go cheap and play it with the technique you prefer

You play very well. But FUCK! Sometimes less is more! Way overkill on the fast picking. It's a little sloppy and really unnecessary. A solo needs to complement the background music. It not only drowns out the song, the excessive use of speed causes you to lose your rhythm. You're constantly "catching up" to the tempo after trying to squeeze too much in a space where it doesn't.
