It was pretty tough to watch seeing the kid get onboard the shuttle, only to get absolutely obliterated instantly. Pretty immersive score and scene ;(
@Crealtos funny nuff... gears of war 3 had the same thing... with RAAM's Shadow DLC, kid gets soccer ball from soldier, gets onto armoured truck, truck gets pulled underground.
Somehow I feel more calm after listening to this. I had worries about ME3 after reading some comments about that leaked ME3 scenario but now I believe that where's the epic music there's epic story, anyway - epic music=epic game.
The world, nay, the whole galaxy, everyone we love, all of it's gonna be blown to pieces by these machines. Think of how bad 9/11 was....times several million. Whole races on the brink of being wiped out. Billions. So damn right, we deserve a profoundly sad, yet inspiring soundtrack.
It makes you understand the true seriousness of what is happening. You have been fighting for this moment for many years, no matter how much you try people will ignore you out of fear. When the time comes, you can't act smug or cocky that "you said so" you feel sorry for those who are suffering because the event you was trying so hard to stop is happening. It it breaks your heart to see people suffer, especially little kids.
Damn you Reapers, you broke the game boundaries. Killing a kid!!
@notgayguy ahhhh dont spoile me ! Ive already heard something about that kid but but until now i always got away before someone or something could finally spoil that scene ;)
Well how ever... I agree that ME 3 has a real chance to become the best game of the year :) but in my mind "Time" is a bit more depressing ^^
@Ample17 How dare you... Best Game of the Year... I am honestly insulted you didnt say of all time.
I'm a fricking straight 19 year old dude, and when I saw this scene... I was on the brink of tears. Both from awe and from sadness. Never before had a video game brought about a truly real emotional reaction from me. The music is so damn powerful here. And this is only the beginning of the game! I swear... by the end of ME3... I better be in bawling my eyes out! I expect great things from this.
it plays when you see that little boy get on the shuttle, you think he's gonna make it, but a damn Reaper blows the thing up. even Skyrim doesn't go as far as the death of children. Mass Effect 3 will be the best of 2012
@halogamer77 nah, its in the early 30 minute Alpha footage of the game. the missions in it are the fall of earth mission and the mission with mordin solus. if you're going to look for the leaked Alpha footage, keep in mind that it is still Alpha footage and will have stiff animations and sometimes characters mouths wont move during conversations, glitches, etc.
@notgayguy222 really drives home the atmosphere of the game more than any other ive ever seen. nobody is safe. its not just the men... its the old, the young, men, women, children... this piece perfectly conveys that feeling of victory with sacrifice... or utter eradication.
@notgayguy222 That is the casualty of war. I was in Afghanistan and we had secured a building with civilians. 24 people, 16 were children. I saw that building get blown up by our own air forces. It is something that scars you for life, hearing the children crying and people screaming.
@PointlessSteel I don't. It stills haunts me. But the worst thing wasn't that they were screaming. The worst thing was that they didn't allow me to run in and help them. I can remember it as if it was yesterday. Though you can't allow things like this weigh you down, no matter how horrible it was. I'm just lucky to be alive myself.
I was worried, when Jack Wall and Sam Hulick anounced that they wouldn't work on ME3 after ME and ME2, that the series might be in danger of losing one element of its awesomeness, which is its great musical backup.
I believed in Clint Mansell, though, I had faith that he could do it. Still, a little shred of worry lingered on. I swore that I would let Clint have his way with me if he delivered a good soundtrack, and after hearing this first of his ME3 works...
two Shepherds????? Yeah the reapers are fucked now

Very touching. I liked how the writer inserted in music the noise that reapers do. It makes the track and the scene more dramatic and more terrific.

@KingdomHeartsFire hey you want to see sad scenes, watch the lion king, provided you ahve a good relationship with your father you will be in tears.
also true grit had a teary ending when the horse dies by being over ridden as the main character got wounded so it died to save her.
