Koklyaev is such an inspiration, his strength is incredible, and watching him perform is absolutely amazing. At the same time, you can just tell that he is such a kind, warm and charismatic and happy person who makes others smile just by being near him. Russia can be damn proud of him.
There is way more to the story. He wasn't under any influence, and the fact that he tried to avoid the accident cost him one week at the hospital and to wreck his own car. He wasn't going fast either, but unfortunately a pedestrian is always fragile.
Arnold Classic doesn't show who is an ahtlete and who is not. I prefer 10 times the world championships both with IFSA and WSM, just as lots of guys on your forum do.
Savickas is heavier every year, and just look at the results: 3rd at the IFSA 2007. He barely reached the finals and did 3rd only because of the axle press. He's strong, but makes wrong choices.
you can't say that's as a direct result of the weight gain. He's been performing at such a high level for so long now - when's the last time he didnt come in first in a contest, WSM 04? 3 YEARS of domination? But he comes in 3rd at Worlds and now he makes wrong choices ... come on.
I know he has been on a roll, only losing a couple of competitions in 2005 and 2006, but that doesn't prevent him from making wrong choices sometimes. Damn, even Mike Miller recognizes now that the "gain weight!" obsession is not such a good thing.
I just dont see Z as being much heavier now than he has been over the last 3 years. THere've always been multiple versions of him - Big Zydrunas and Bigger Zydrunas.
So you picked a year where he didnt win, and compared it to another year that he didnt win ... huh? Only Zydrunas knows why he didnt dominate in the usual fashion this year. And he may not even know, it may just be one of those things. Vasyl and Misha are incredible athletes and just had better days
I took 2007 caus' it's his epithome of "getting huge". According to Travis Ortmayer, Savickas' back was hurting him a bit. But honestly, can you imagine yourself finishing an arm over arm truckpull with such a belly? And well, health is so important as well!
He wrote WORLD , that's the true meaning of word 'МИР'. It's mean that someday Russia be the one country on the whole globe. )))

Then in Korea, he was Fatter Zydrunas. 180 kg.... Look back in 2002, he was in an awesome shape. Not so strong, but who knows? Second only to Pudz.

That was nice when he wrote with chalk on his shirt, in Cyrillic letters, 'mir', the Russian word for 'peace' (looks a lot like 'MHP" doesn't it?!).
