@PIKAMONjake, there is no way any xna homebrew can brick an xbox since it runs in a sandboxed VM environment. You probably suffered one of the many general hardware flaws the xbox suffers from due to the many manufacturing and design flaws that arose from beancounters squeezing pennies and the overal attitude of really not giving a fuck since they can legally drop the warranty down to year for most parts of the world.

well xna is alot like java i just started it a few days ago and i swear its just like my old java 3d non accelerated pixel polygon drawing template i made and that took me 2 years even the layout i can even do shit just like i did in my old java except stuff like the storage classes
they are killing me ive been stoped completly on them im cloneing a old game / helping make editors for another dudes game but if you know java xna is just excellent so far
2:50 You gotta watch your mouth-- saying shit like "you always say " blah blah blah.. that's just BS. Programming's one of the hardest jobs. Shame the FTPS on the XBox is crummy... That's always one of the biggest headaches in game coding-- keeping the FPS high. When Johnny did that, he saved a LOT OF work for your artist-- But now your artist has to do twice as many animations...
Yes games are programs, but, if you made a game that sucks it doesn't necessarily mean that you made a program that sucks. There's a lot more to developing a good game then just the programming part of it. For example there's: Graphics, Animation, Plot (Game story), Marketing, and so forth... Those are all important when defining a good game. I'd be careful stating myself of things that I don't know much about. ;)
Have you ever played a game that you hated so much but you kept on playing just to see the story
FUCK NO
Gameplay comes first
if the game isn't fun or compelling then you're not going to play
you can have a game with no story but amazingly fun but if you have a game that has horrible game play then "most" will quit but the gameplay can be kinda bad and the story can pull it through but yea it's mainly all about gameplay
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
for me : fuck gameplay
it has to be a adventure to play it and you have to get richer in your life after youve played it.
meaning you must have learned something emotionaally spiritually and intellectually
Screw entertainment... life - based emotionally games like : Silent hill 2-3-4 , Neverwinter Nights, Icewind Dale Baldurs gate are all games that SCREW ENTERTAINMENT and focus on ... Basically LIFE
okay, well, despite what everyone else is saying, i think its a fantastic start. i love the concept of it, and duh, its an indie game, its not going to be perfect, cut them some slack guys.. good luck jforcegames, its looking awesome! :)
so is this xna thing like really hard? cos I downloaded the program and you enter codes in... but I just don't know what fucking code goes there lol. seriously... how does a code work, i mean, what does it consist of that tells the game what to do???
how is this game going to be better then lets say crimsonland, which is kind similar, how is it going to be better than soldat? all these indie games are way better that this garbage. you are in serious denial if uyou think this is going to make money.
Do you know how early we are in development? Soldat and CL looked like crap too when they were this early. And watch episode 8 to see a more updated version of our game.
i did watch ep8. there is no way you are just going to pick up XNA, and suddenly make the best indy game. im sorry its just not gonna happen. if you had said this 15 years ago, when gaming was in its infancy, yeah, then i would have been more optimistic. could you list 5 reasons why you will be succesful. and not reasons like we rock. reasons like, well person X has a masters in CSC. and person y has givent us $20000. we got a artist that worked on a triple A title that actually shipped.
1. great graphics (Jordan has proven this despite his spriting inexperience)
2. great marketing campaign
3. simplicity of XNA
4. Jonny's innate programming mind (he continues to have the highest grade in his CS courses at college, he also won programming Battleship AI competition his freshmen year)
For XNA Game Studios 1.0, what graphics creator should I use? I mean, what do I use to create everything? Also, maybe it's cause I'm on my friend's vista computer, but when I download the visual c# express sp1 (or whatever it's called, but I know sp1's at the end), I try to install it but it says it has an error and the update may not be for any existing software. I need it to install XNA so where do I get Visual C# Express Edition SP1? Is Sp1 only for xp? HELP!
I am not much of a XNA programmer, but I do think you can get your frames per second to run on the tick rate of the CPU so its more friendly to slower computers or faster ones too if you haven't already done so.
My comment didn't seem to go through -- what I said was I recommend you consider a line of sight, so that when one player doesn't see the other in their sight (a wall or something obstructing their vision) that the players then don't show up on each other's screens. But try it both ways and see which feels better.
I've always wanted to play that game, but it doesn't work on my computer! Vista maybe? Anyway, yeah we've thought about a vision cone. I doubt we'll have it. But who knows.
You can do it even simpler without a vision cone, just check for any big obstacles between them (regardless of which way they're facing) and make them disappear based on that. But yes, it can work either way, it tends to make it slower-paced and more a game of cat and mouse, and you may be going for a faster-paced feel.
As for Alphasix, there's a Vista converter for Game Maker games which lets you play it on Vista. I'll apply it to and re-upload it later today and let you know when I do.
Okay, I just re-uploaded it, it should work in Vista now. It's on my site (if you forgot the url, just go to the A6 video and click on the link in the video description, and then the picture of Alphasix in the sidebar).
good video ......im glad yall is doin sum programming but yall should explain wat yall doin and have the artist do sum concept art to show off too that would be great but overall the video is good
liked for using the doom 3 theme.
