@nikekman dude you're retarded. brand new GTI back in mid '05 (when they quit making the mk4 platform) was never 30k ; 22-23k at the most. Add 5 grand to the 1.8t and you have over 300whp with the best components out there without having to worry about the motor blowing up.
Add 1 more grand for connecting rods and you can get well over 400whp with more boost and some fueling :)

no you didnt. i dont even have to be there or have seen this. for one, i own an 08 tC too. intake+exhaust < +10hp gain. that brings the stock 161hp to a max of 171... lets say even give it 180hp. and the 3 cars you mentioned all have an access of 200hp with the vr6 being the lowest. i dunno about the s2000 and its low torque.. but theres no way you beat the other 2 cars without them having driver errors.

2.4l vs. 1.8l.. You act like the turbo on the GTI is big or something. The 99-02.5 GTIs had 150hp.. Less than the scion's 160. They weighed 2700 pounds , not the 3200 previously mentioned. The 02.5-05.5 still only had 180hp stock, weighed the same.
Then there's the 337 and 20th anniversary GTIs which had the same horsepower but due to the addition of the 6 speed manual transmission, weighed 2900 pounds.
Yeah, it would be kinda like picking on the little guy huh....lol. j/k. Point is, one car is N/A'ed. The other is boosted. 1.8L or not, it's boosted. And from the factory at that. Even for 2.4L it's not putting out some massive amount of HP stock. GTI is what 200hp from the factory vs 160hp....that's not apples to apples either. So, in either case, it is not a direct comparison. The tC is heavier than every year model GTI you just mentioned.
I vote turbo the VR6....lol. Well, quite frankly, I'm not one that's big into dyno numbers. My last boost setting was 12lbs of boost. Typical tC on 12lbs of boost, based on other dyno numbers, I would have to put the car in the 310-320whp/320+wtq range. However, I'm in between turbo kits right now. Sold my previous setup (20G turbo setup), and saving money to get my new one. PTuning turbo kit, which runs a GT3076r turbo. Will run 12lbs daily, and have a 14lb tune good for 370-400.
TCs aren't bad cars, but you have to remember that it's a 2.4L against a 1.8L with a very small turbo. With that and the extra weight of the GTI, the race should be close; though, with a better launch than what happened in this video, the GTI could have won easily since it's pulling full torque from under 2k rpms throughout the rev range.

ok 350 is pretty tight, as far as an evo i wanted to get one but it only has like 275 hp, if u put a turbo on the tc esp. turbonetics u get 300 hp. and eclipse are believe it only has 161 hp too. and well a mustang is a muscle car if that is what ur going for then get that but if u want a tuner then get the one of the 3.350 are really nice cars u just gotta test drive them and feel which feels more u. as soon as i sat in my tc i knew it was for me. hope my lil info helps

well in a straight u will probably win, in a course it will be hard since the evo is AWD, it takes curves n turns better. ur gunna want to change out the headeds to since Tcs are more economical cars then evos. but if u put in a turbo in a new Tc it may void the warranty. A turbo tc vs a 1.8t is hardly apples to apples.
2.4l vs. 1.8l.. You act like the turbo on the GTI is big or something. The 99-02.5 GTIs had 150hp.. Less than the scion's 160. They weighed 2700 pounds , not the 3200 previously mentioned. The 02.5-05.5 still only had 180hp stock, weighed the same.
Then there's the 337 and 20th anniversary GTIs which had the same horsepower but due to the addition of the 6 speed manual transmission, weighed 2900 pounds.

Yeah, it would be kinda like picking on the little guy huh....lol. j/k. Point is, one car is N/A'ed. The other is boosted. 1.8L or not, it's boosted. And from the factory at that. Even for 2.4L it's not putting out some massive amount of HP stock. GTI is what 200hp from the factory vs 160hp....that's not apples to apples either. So, in either case, it is not a direct comparison. The tC is heavier than every year model GTI you just mentioned.

A stock tC weighs around 2900lbs, usually dynos around 140whp/150wtq and runs the 1/4 in 15.1-15.4 with a good driver.
My tC is not stock however. So, I would have to race a modded MK4.

If you want to play that game.. Since, apparently .6 liters doesn't mean much to you.. How about .4?
Instead of turbo'ing the tC.. Why not go up against an N/A VW? A 24v VR6 to be specific. Only .4 liters more than the tC..

I vote turbo the VR6....lol. Well, quite frankly, I'm not one that's big into dyno numbers. My last boost setting was 12lbs of boost. Typical tC on 12lbs of boost, based on other dyno numbers, I would have to put the car in the 310-320whp/320+wtq range. However, I'm in between turbo kits right now. Sold my previous setup (20G turbo setup), and saving money to get my new one. PTuning turbo kit, which runs a GT3076r turbo. Will run 12lbs daily, and have a 14lb tune good for 370-400.

TCs aren't bad cars, but you have to remember that it's a 2.4L against a 1.8L with a very small turbo. With that and the extra weight of the GTI, the race should be close; though, with a better launch than what happened in this video, the GTI could have won easily since it's pulling full torque from under 2k rpms throughout the rev range.

is the tc a good car to mod up? i still dont know if i should buy a tc, spyder eclipse gt, 350z, mustang gt, evo, or a 2004 mustang gt.can anyone help me decide wat they think i should get.

ok 350 is pretty tight, as far as an evo i wanted to get one but it only has like 275 hp, if u put a turbo on the tc esp. turbonetics u get 300 hp. and eclipse are believe it only has 161 hp too. and well a mustang is a muscle car if that is what ur going for then get that but if u want a tuner then get the one of the 3.350 are really nice cars u just gotta test drive them and feel which feels more u. as soon as i sat in my tc i knew it was for me. hope my lil info helps

Oh now hell yeah. they have a basic model where instead of rims it comes with hubcaps everything very basic. I paid like 18k for my scion w/o taxes n licences. yeah the scion are cheap cars and they are supposly the new era of civics. u can even smoke a regular civic stock.(not SI) but like the ex and other civics. so by all means get one and have fun with it.

well in a straight u will probably win, in a course it will be hard since the evo is AWD, it takes curves n turns better. ur gunna want to change out the headeds to since Tcs are more economical cars then evos. but if u put in a turbo in a new Tc it may void the warranty. I heard tho they need to prove the mod u put in caused the damage.

Put it this way. A full exhaust for my turbo tC cost around $500 bucks. A full exhaust for my 350z cost $1k-$1500 bucks. The more expensive the car, the more the aftermarket parts cost.

Because a tC runs low to mid 15s completely stock. I ran 15.1 with only an exhaust as a mod. A S/C'ed tC would run mid/high 14's. I would hope a new TURBOED gti would beat a N/A'ed tC...lol. What a weak claim. Turbo the tC, and it would eat the new gti..big deal.
