I loved the 9th doctor. He was my first of course, so he has a special part in my heart. Of course the 10th Doctor David was really good. I believe the 9th brought the series back 10th Made it something special, and the 11th is continuing the legacy.

It's funny, on the show when they talk about the sound of the TARDIS, this is what I think of, not the whirring noise.
Eccleston might not have been the sexiest or most attractive doctor, but he was my first and always will be near and dear to my heart. I would run away with him in a police phone box.

I mean, he may have only been around for one season, but he was just brilliant in the role, conveyed so much emotion. He was able to bring more depth to the role than alot of other actors could ever dream of. Eccleston will always be MY Doctor, and imho, the best Doctor so far!
He was highly and ridiculously underrated. I cried when he regenerated. Don't get me wrong I love 10 & 11, and even 8, 4, & 5, but 9 was MY doctor and I loved Eccleston's portraying the Doctor. His dynamic with Rose was quietly loving and beautiful, his character was dark and tortured but humorous and-for lack of a better word-Fantastic.
They need to do a "The Four Doctors" episode and bring back Paul McGann, Ecclston, Tennant, with Smith. McGann has done great work on his Doctor for Big Finish. He's a really interesting Doctor who's very lively and smooth.
I loved Tennant, but I have to say that Eccleston was a lot more interesting to watch. He played the brooding & haunted Doctor amazingly, with just the right mixture of wisdom & aggression. I also thought his dynamic with Rose was more interesting, because he wasn't the natural charmer that Ten was. He had to work for it a bit more.
Mr. Eccleston left the series because he didnt want to be the doctor anymore.
i wish i wouldnt have had done that :/ i wanted atleast 1 more season with him.. or a episode wich happens before the first episode in season 1(2005) wich shows how Mcgann regenerated into Eccleston, in the first episode, "rose" he looked into a mirror and didnt know what he looked like, so it suggests that he had just regenerated. i want a episode showing what he was doing before he got into the building.
@XredstarrX it suggest its the first time he got to see himself i hold to the theory that the climax of the time war coincided with 8's regeneration and that 9 had to travel a bit alone before we meet him in episode one aka "rose" also that in one of the audio stories or i think maybe in the episode itself someone claims to have seen the doctor before but that when he saw him he was stone drunk and wearing an Edwardian get up aka 8's clothes.
I liked 9 but only had one year to like him. Had he done more he would probably my fave. At the min Matt is my fave followed by Chris and David. Bring back Chris please(If only for one episode) :)

it kinda annoys me tha Eccleston is just sort of pushed out ... everyone loved 10 to bits, and loads really love 11 now ... but no one seems to give a damn about 9 ... and series 1 (along with 4) was my favourite season! lol

The 9th doctor deserves better, even if I would rate him as the 3rd best among the 3 doctors in the newer seasons, he still did a great job and is worthy of the title as, Doctor Who!
@Cezgeth indeed! :) ... my favourite seasons now are s5&6 simply because the writing is SO much better!!! lol ... I love Matt Smith, and Eccleston is probably my least favourite, if I had to choose, but I still love him LOADS!!! :)

Personal I would have loved to have seen Eccleston for 3 to 4 seasons then introduced David. 4 seasons of the 9th followed by 4 to 6 seasons of the 10th means we wouldn't be looking at Matt as the 11th right now. Oh Matt does OK I guess but Eccleston and Tennant bring so much more panache depth and flare to the Doctor than he ever can.
@Rellek1778 yeah well I disagree with you there. The more I see of Matt Smith's performance the more I'm impressed. Not to mention the writing is GENIUS, whereas the writing for the previous seasons, as much as I loved it, was pretty terrible at times.
I do love 9 10 & 11, all of them, but most people seem to either be madly in love with 10 or obsessed with 11 and Eccleston just seems to get pushed out of the equation. For most people that is.
Most people don't like 9 because he quit so early.
