@revolutionday1 Well the fact is the guy's hair is awful so I made a joke about it and you are judging me for that. So I guess the fuckbag here is you.
Arguing about the artist's hair...talk about fanboyism.
I don't know if they wrote this for the movie but I noticed that there was another mention of "an open door". They might have had this song but didn't put in on the EP. This song also sounds like RUSH song, i wondered if Ben is influenced?
My last experience with Death Cab was not pleasant. They and their jerk roadies seem to have HUGE ego issues now. I was treated like absolute trash by them. It's like they forgot who got them to where they are now. I cannot speak for Chris Walla. He wasn't there. It kinda sucks that these guys are straight super-stars now.
Don't get me wrong, I will always love their music. It's so great and in a sense, timeless. But I won't forget my last experience with them. It was saddening.
They all just treated me, a 25 year old man, like a crazed 14 year old girl. I just wanted to shake their hands and say "thanks for being such an influence on my musical life."
But yeah I was shut down pretty hard by them. At one point one of the roadies even said, "Get back! They are real people too!" referring to DCFC. It was weird because I was the only person around. I was just a little irritated. Every time I have seen them I have had to drive over three hours to get there.
Every time I've seen DCFC live, Ben's voice sounds unrelaxed. Disappointing. I think it's a product of too much head/body-bobbing or the fact that he's constricted by playing guitar(?) Certainly would benefit from just dong vox and hiring another guitar. Disappointing, because I love his voice and songwriting on record.
I'm a huge death cab fan, but this is not a very good song, maybe they were rushed or a tad uncomfortable if they wrote it specifically for a sound track. Something seems off. definitely not their best.
I think this song is pretty bad, honestly. I love death cab for cutie. I don't think it's bad because it's for new moon, I just think it's bad. If it were on one of their albums I would skip It, and I hardly say that about any other death cab songs. Too bad.
for the two best love songs ever that go perfectly with the twilight saga check out "Winter Air" and "This is Love" by the band Annasay on itunes and youtube too
ilike2win "dry vocals" means vocals without any effects (for example reverb, delay etc). It's not his mistake that his voice sound "tired" etc, it's the sound engineer's fault, that's why I mentioned "they need a team".Anyway, not getting into technical details overall I stick to my opinion that they could be a huge band, but they prefer it otherwise? They lack the team? They weren't ready? I don't know.
Great live performance. I dig the song. I dig the chord. Dig both guitars I dig the drums I dig the bass. If the guy's voice sounds a little tired, probably a good reason. The dude can sing.
They aren't the TV soundpersons and I bet the sound for the studio audience was right on. (There's a reason some live TV sounds sounds like TV.)
This is a rippin' DCFC song. Nice to see version without the Twighteen videeyew yak and the Moonie commentary.
Im with DJDrewDesign. They have credibility, they've been around for awhile. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but it's not an opinion when it is indeed a fact that they are not amateur and have been in the music scene for 10+ years.
I think the performance is great, nothing is "dry" about it. Of course it's not gonna sound exactly like the recorded version. But it does sound damn close to it, which is hard to do!
Death Cab are really good. I think that the live sound probably wasn't pumping, and they don't perform on tv much, so i bet he was nervous. but look, his voice was only dry because of the live sound, he has a fucking powerful voice. maybe he was sick, listen to some of his other live video's, he kicks ass, love death cab, love this song, hate twilight and all that like it. It's got the depth of a piece of A4 paper.
grimsbystunts at my personal opinion they needed a little more. It's not a matter of years, it's a matter of timing. I loved their last song but they could make it better for example (in MY opinion). Their live perfomances need as sure as hell some serious fixing, both audio and visually. They could become one of the top bands if they find some serious team to back them up and stear them to the right direction. Just watch the audience at 3:41..do they seem ecstatic?
swear you're fucking retarded. do you even listen to music for god's sake. you might as well say that michael jackson needed some fixing and you might have been even more credible.
Your personal opinion sucks and you need to know what you're talking about to make a point. Death cab have been around now over 10 years and their last record was the 2008 iTunes album of the year, it was number 1 on the billboard chart when it was released and they have been grammy nominated. They also have consecutive sold out theatre tours. Style dorkish? why are you even commenting on this... your not really in a position to say this band isn't ready.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
In my opinion this band came out a bit too soon. They aren't ready yet for great exposure (acording to my opinion always). The live sound is amateur (dry vocals?!?,come on, put on the flanger effect that you had on the recorded version), the singer is the worst looking of all the band members (that's an innovation!) and the style is a bit dorkish at times. They have GREAT potential but they needed a little bit of time to mature.
I haven't been too excited about their newest music lately. I don't mind it, it still is good. I just enjoy their older albums alot more. One of my favorite bands.. Cool to see them playing live though.
I am loving that Gretsch Duo Jet with Bigsby!!!!!! That is my next guitar.

Also needs to lose the Neil Young look. For someone with so much original talent, that is severely disappointing.

I don't doubt that some people really like this band. I don't know, everything I've heard from them just seems so generic; much like this song.
I can appreciate that they seem like good musicians, but I just don't see what all the hype is about.
