You could also just buy a switch. Just look up "ethernet sitch" on like radio shack or something. I gives you more ports and you don't have to mess with the cord everytime you want to play Xbox online or use the computers iternet. Just though I'd try and help. :)

To get the best possible connection for LIVE you need to open a static port, that has to be manually set up otherwise you will have a restricted NAT and this will cause some annoyance while playing FPS like Black Ops. Look up port forwarding or virtual routing with your modem or router type. Some routers have a Plug n play tick box but not many.
