  • If I may ask, why did you choose the 20 inch barrel over a longer length barrel? For accuracy purposes?

  • $1300 budget gun lol!!!! my idea of a budget gun is $4-$500 not $1300

  • @cott10r Should I have made the title "Precision Rifle capable of competing in Tactical Competions out to 1000yds on a Budget" yes I should, but it just didn't fit in the space...

  • @gunskniveswatches oh its all good brother, i was just razzin ya. i forgot to add that i did enjoy the video.

  • @cott10r I know but it is still the truth....

Thanks, I try to get people into longrange shooting, but cost is a real issue...

  • what do you think is the apsolute range of a 700 in 308 ?? I have a weatherby vanguard .270 win deluxe but i want a cheap (as cheap as possible) 1000 plus rifle and i understand that the 700 and m40 are virtually the same gun, just more refined. should i hold out for an a1 a3 or a5 or just buy a 700?? what do yall think

  • @invertkilla absolute range is where you feel confident that you can make the shot 90+% of the time and the bullet has the energy to do its job. These things also coenside with the bullet going subsonic which changes depending on the gun, load, and environmental factors that will make the 308 go sub at around 900 yards not meters.

As far as the FN or the 700 tha is a personal thing. FN is going to release the new botom metal for the A1 when they get around to it. 700 is what I shoot most.

  • Isn't short range precision rifle kind-of an oxymoron?

  • @AggressiveNarcissism They are for taking no reflex shots, so that the target can not reflex and pull the trigger or detinator.....

  • did anybody notice that the anti-cant level is mounted on the front. kinda hard to see when shooting dont ya think

  • @darrickw Not it you are left handed and it is easy to see over the windage turet. You do not shoot left handed or do you look up into the sky and then have to look down to see yours because it is perfect for me.

  • not trying to bash your scope or anything but you can get an osprey with they same glass as leapuold uses and it has all the fancy stuff on it for only about 200 bucks not saying it better but it is really great for the price and i have one and it is amazing so far great glass great retuclue and everything

    (just throwing this out there)

  • @escapeinglife1 It is not a Leupold scope, it is a Front Focal Plane Mil/Mil SS from SWFA. I have no idea where you got the Leupold but my best wishes to you.....

  • Did you find the 3x9 to be lacking at all for longer ranges? If they had a 4x16 even i think that would be awesome.

  • Doing a similar build coming up. Using a 700 SPS Varmint with a heavy barrel and getting a set of pillars and some Devcon steel putty to bed/free float it. That and a Nikon Monarch 5-20x44 with the turrets.

  • 600 for a super sniper? I would just pay 100 more and get a vortex viper pst. It has side parallax focus and illumination

  • @BoneCollector503 Can I give you an Alaskan Pipeline?

  • @CRFbadass stfu faggot

  • @BoneCollector503 where can you find a First Focal Plane Reticle PST for $700?

  • is that the bull barrel?

  • @InsertGun Yes it is.

  • how is the bolt clearance with those low rings?

I am about to order the burris rings for my 700 but am not sure whether to get the medium or low rings.. I like my scopes low but im havent been able to see any on a gun to see if there would be enough bolt clearance for the low rings.

  • @86bowhunter To be honest the clearance is a little tight. If you have a stock bolt knob you will have a little less than half and inch. I am use to tight situations and having to shoot a right handed rifle lefty. It would depend on your ocular size as to the clearance you would have.

  • I have a couple of questions, do you feel under equipped with the 20 inch barrel? What is the farthest out have you shot this rifle? I am just curious because i want to set up a rifle like what you have done and am trying to decide between the rem 700 sps varmint with a 26 inch barrel and the sps tac version. the stock on either isn't in the equation because i plan on putting it on a B&C medalist. Any info you could give would be a great help.

  • REMINGTON 700 TACTICAL IS 299 AT WALLMART I BOUGHT MINE 2 WEEKS AGO

  • @douglas8500 That was a great buy!

  • @douglas8500 lucky haha enjoy it

  • @douglas8500

Thats a great catch. I got ripped off for mine hahaah oh welllllllllllllllllll. Nice job.

  • @douglas8500 wish my walmart still sold guns....

  • @piechee Not this one.

  • nice i like the idea and setup. dose that stock come with aluminum pillars in it? i was just wondering because the winchester model 70 stealth uses that as a selling point and last i new those were competing actions. i also would like to know your opinion on if your setup was in 223 instead of 308. thanks any info would be very interesting to me

  • @enemyandy It may be pillar bed but my issues with the stock has no ending.... I want to try a Manners stock with Mini Chassy. I just have not figured out which one would be good for me shooting Left and Right handed. As far as 223 my mind works in Sierra Match King 308. Cost of shooting is way down on the 223 and in real world hunting I often shoot 223 in a DMR. 308 offers me a 90+% hit rate in 600 to 700 yards and the bullet be able to in any atmospheric condition.

  • @gunskniveswatches I do not have an unreal expectation of the 308 or my own ability. It is just that my mind is conditioned in 308. I wish I could make the call on 223 shots and know when it goes subsonic or even what the bullet is doing at ranges. I just have not put the trigger time in on 223 past 300 yards with sub MOA rifles. I think in 22, 308, 338 lapua, and 50 BMG. I pick up another caliber and my head might explode, that is real shit.

  • @gunskniveswatches Marry Christmas! i think Manner has a real nice product. it looks like most of the MCS T series would do left or right. thanks for turning me onto them. it sounds like if reliability in all conditions is important than 308 is it. do you think that having a rifle like an FNAR be a viable replacement option for precision bolt and 223 autoloader. i guess the real question is if you only get one rifle whats it gonna be !?

  • @enemyandy If you are asking what my load out is when I have no idea what all of the variables are I carry a precision bolt action 308 and an accurate 45 caliber hand gun. That is just me! My mind works in those platforms. A Ruger Mark is a third option that I use often. Everything else would be specific to what I was doing. They are my goto weapons of choice.

  • @gunskniveswatches Thanks! it helps keep my ideas real. :)

  • cant wait to see more of this rifle been saving up to get myself a good R700set up. I would love to have one of them expensive Accuracy International Chassis System. but a guy can only dream and live vicariously through others.

  • @ijsaenz That is what is go great about 308's. You have the ability to buy off the shelf ammo; they have predictable balistics; and they are easy on barrels. If you were going to shoot a larger caliber than yes get an AICS. Every bullet costs so much on larger calibers that if you skip steps on the rifle you are flushing money down the drain. 308's are the bread & butter of precision shooting, other than 22's. 308's my version of comfort food it s like a burger on the grill.

  • you should check out TPS TSR rings from brownells they are the same price as the burris rings but far better and not as bulky , by far the best rings for the money,

  • @MrLongbranch303 The steal TPS rings are a favorite of some of the people I shoot with.

Thanks, I will give them a try!

  • Very interesting. I'm debating something like this as well, and don't have a ton of money to spend. I'm hoping to stay under $2500 altogether, but I'm debating whether to build a precision bolt gun, or to just go with an accuracy-biased battle rifle. Obviously the semi-auto will probably cost more and not shoot quite as well, but I doubt I can shoot well enough to notice a lot of difference anyway, nor will I realistically ever really need 1000 yd shot capabilities. I have an AR, so I was

  • @wcropp1 kinda wanting something "different," but M1As are pricey, and FALs/PTR-91s aren't known to be tack drivers, so I may end up going the AR-10 route. Basically, I want a Designated Marksman Rifle on a budget, something with a little more range and power than my AR-15. Thanks for the video.

  • @wcropp1 You are welcome!

The Manners stock and mini chassis with a 5 round mag is around $850 plus rifle for $600 and that is with out a scope. In the end it is 6 one half dozen another. The scope and theory works on all rifles. The shooter makes the shot not the rifle. A good shooter can make a so so rifle shoot, a great rifle will never make a bad marksman be able to hit the target.
