Hey, it's a good movie! my 300M is an imported Car from Germany. They will not be comparated with any other vehicle. Any car have own qualities. 300M is a soft, confortable, and performing Sedan. My 300M is an 01/2001 silver 2.7, coming from Heidelberg. A Wonder...I'm a old commercial from Chrysler-France, and happy to run with my 300M.
my dad gave me this car and i love it, being 17 and getting a car like that is just amazing, he had gotten the new 300c so i got this one the only problem i have is its so low or a ride i find myself scraping the bottom on nearly everything even steep drive-ways, if only it had like another 2-3 inches of lift it would be perfect, but im not complaining.
this car is so expencible to fix i just fix my wife's 300m special 2003 they change the thermostat it cost me 400 dollars because the thermostat its in under the engine n its so complicated to take it out
this is my daily driver and absolutely love it, mine does not have the special sports appearance package like this one though, but man is it comfortable and powerful. it almost feels more powerful than my s2000, until it hits "VTEC yo" though than things are a little different.
Oh , and the dual exhaust system also has 2 mufflers as well , 1 on each corner prior to the chrome tips , which are wirefed welded completely onto the tailpipe ends , not screwed or clamped. It is quite a large exhaust system , but the most expensive parts (the catalytic converters) are protected and will last. Mine are still looking like they might only be a year old , even though they are original. In fact , the entire exhaust system is original. Not a fix or repair often exhaust system.
I have to say without a doubt that my purchase of the 300m Special is the best used car I have ever bought or seen to date , no bias. Right onto the highway , I was getting 90mph having only pressed the gas in about an inch. Never needed any throaty acceleration to reach that speed and didn't want to test the car , prior to working on it myself , just get it home. The Special Edition gets 34mpg highway , more than a base 300m (single exhaust). No restriction of the exhaust , but calibrated.
Actually what they have done with the exhaust , is incorporate 2 catalytic converters into what a header design is. In that - each catalytic converter has bolt on connecting flanges like a header , on their ends. This can make the catalytic converters last the life of the car , just like manifolds. You simply bolt on everything from the catalytic flange ends , just like you would onto headers. Even the flange ends remain inside the unibody frames , so only the rest is exposed to underbody.
The 300m Special Edition's do have dual exhaust , as I just bought a 2002 300m Special Edition / Berline , midnight blue in color. 2 catalytic converters mount right beside the engine where they won't rust from being actually under the firewall or a bit further back. Each exhaust pipe goes into a dual piped resonator via a Ypipe. Then another Ypipe is connected to the exit of the resonator , which leads to yet another chrome hotbox behind where the rear axle would be. Then out thru 2 pipes.
I' m getting my dad's now that he has a company car with his new job, but sadly his is a money pit. The engine is always dying, but I guess I can't complain since I'm getting a free car.
Umm yea they dont have duel exhaust. This guy is trying to sell this car and knows really jack about it. Sale people kill me when they fail at knowing things about the cars they sell.
This is my favorite car by far! It looks, sounds, and just is beautiful. It's a shame Chrysler replaced it with the boxy thugmobile 300; they should've continued making the M. Kyle, you are a lucky man to have driven one of these in high school. You should let me borrow it for my senior prom, as high school girls will be all over the stud who drives a 300M.
@panthersfan1790 lol i have a 2001 chrysler 300m, steel blue color, and took both the resonators out to make it sound amazing. Needless to say..i do have a girlfriend, but all she does is complain how loud the car is hahah. 3.5 V6 is beast!
@panthersfan1790 Are you fucking serious? The 300M has a V6 engine, plastic interior, and to top it off...it's front wheel drive. BORING!
The M is a nice looking car, but not nearly as nice as the C. Also, the C has an available 5.7L V8 and is rear wheel or all wheel drive. There's nothing special about the M, it's pretty much just a fancy Intrepid, how anyone could like it is mind boggling.
My dad owns one of these from 99 and I enjoy driving it but its no speed demon. 0-60 comes up in 9 seconds at best and the autostick is just a toy. a base Grand prix from 99 went quicker and was cheaper and had the same capabilities just not quite as nice. I think that 3.5 would be much quicker if coupled with a proper trany. That chrysler 4spd just wastes all that power.
Hey man, type in MotorWeek Chrysler 300M Special. They tested it & put it on a youtube video. It did 0-60 in 7.2 and ran the 1/4 mile in 15.5 @ 91 mph. The regular '99 300M was tested in motor trend and got to 60 in 7.7 and ran the 1/4 mile in 15.9 @ 89.8 during that test. Neither are super fast cars, but for what they are they move pretty well. A 4400 pound 160 HP '95 Explorer V6 did 0-60 in the 9's just so you know lol. You're right about the tranny though. I totally agree
sweet car...nicer than any recent Chrysler cars...nicer interior too...my parents owned 1994 Dodge intrepid ES with the 3.5 V6...that was a screamer for a family sedan...loved that car...it held up well too....
i curently own a 2004 chrysler 300m just the standard m and its been the best car i have owned 250 horse and 33 mpg i cant definatly not complain about it.. oh and i can beat my buddys mustang down the 1/4 haha. nice video kyle hopefully i can buy a 300m special someday
As far as American vs. Jap or reliability issues, my opinion is to just take care of the darn car. The little things you do will always pay off in the long run and you will get back what you put in. Cars may have a major issue here or there but nothing lasts forever.
I think it's nice, but I prefer the Acura TL of that generation. It may have a little less power (I think that even in TL-S trim, the car has 10 or so less than this), but it has a better dash (none of that fake carbon fiber), a 5 speed auto, and a nav system. Still, this car has a great engine, and is better than most people expect Chryslers to be.
Keep it!!! Put half insurance on it and drive it along with your Genesis coupe... don't you want to be a two sports car man? haha... seriously though you should keep it lol
HORRIBLE FIRST CAR! Thankful my parents got me a new lexus gs300 shorty after :) This car is terrible dont buy. Dont by any american cars made in the early 00s. Shiit stay away from American junk period. BTW the auto stick... LOL what a joke! On the highway it was like shifting a fat lady. Pointless. This car has numerous other problems, for example the dashboard cracks. Mine cracked 3 weeks after having the car. The guy who sold it said it was because i dont have a garage? Werd? America fuk no!
@andrefrbk What the fuck are you talking about? My Mustang, Explorer, and E250 and E350 are all 2001 models, and all will ass rape your gs300. Just because you have an expensive car doesn't make it a good car, or at least better than other cars. As I recall Toyota doesn't have such a clean reputation for reliability during that decade either. The 300M we had had a bad tranny, but the rest of the car wasn't half bad either, none of these dash cracks you speak of.
@orbitofdoom16 andrefrbk is a Toyota Driver (See: Homosexual) so that really says it all. I have an 00 + a 99 M - both have the damn cracks in the dash on the passenger side. Thats pretty much the only part of the interior Chrysler screwed up on - unfortunately it was a big screw up.
This car needs a 5 speed or 6 speed automatic transmission. The 4 speeds are too tall to really show the true power of this engine. It's a fantastic car even though I'm not a Chrysler fan.
@7477238 Yeah, I agree, I don't think it was that prevalent back when these cars came out as it is today, performance has greatly improved over the years!
@MrPS3Wii You got it dude! You forget I was obsessed with these cars in high school haha :P if there was any way to buy this car too (which is a little far fetched) I would do it in a heart beat
@integraz32lover Lol, I pulled it into drive, I'd hardly call that shifting fast, being I was making a turn I was going before a car came, which they were
Kyle, may I ask why you always take the cars up to around 3500 RPM when taking off? It seems like your normal acceleration, but then you have to let off the gas earlier.
@orbitofdoom16 Doesn't concern me, I've never had any problems out of mine, nor has it been troublesome for the new owner. I'd buy one regardless, every car has it's problems, you can't stereotype brands as a whole for the most part. depends on who you talk to and how well it's been taken care of
@saabkyle04 We've had 3, all died with transmission failures. All were less than 3 months old, under warantee, and maintained by Chrysler Mechanics. All driven by my mom, who live 2 miles from her work. You can pretty much stereotype these cars for having tranny failures, as with most Chrysler and Dodges
@orbitofdoom16 Yeah dude I will agree with that, that's probably the only thing I've heard of with those and especially ones like the intrepid which was notorious for trans problems. I guess it just depends on the car. I may have not known one but doesn't mean it doesn't happen. that's like the 2000 gen honda accords, we've had a bunch in at our dealership that had the transmission go out after a month of having it. all lineups have a few lemons I suppose haha
@saabkyle04 The 2000 up Accords were awful, we never had any, but my friends at school are always breaking. I will say the rest of the 300M was a great car, I think the motor was a bit to powerful for the tranny(Dodge is bad with this-Cummins), because its the same one that's been in minivans for decades.
@orbitofdoom16 Yeah, The 2002 up Camrys are terrible as well, I have a buddy with one and it had a blown tranny and needed major engine work by 140k miles. Seems like Camrys and Accords are not as good as the hype they get.
@orbitofdoom16 i disagree because i have a dodge intrepid witch has the same trans as this car and it has 150 thousand miles on it and never had a new trans in it yet.
Hey Kyle. Another awesome video. Could you try to get your hands on an IS 350? I know you've done a couple 250's(great videos on those as well), but I'd really love to see a test drive for the 3.5.
Chrysler has always built great looking products and I really hope that they pull through. I have high hopes that the 200 and 300 will be as great looking as they are as refined, reliable, machines.

You can pretty much stereotype these cars for having tranny failures, as with most Chrysler and Dodges
orbitofdoom16 1 year ago
@orbitofdoom16 Yeah dude I will agree with that, that's probably the only thing I've heard of with those and especially ones like the intrepid which was notorious for trans problems. I guess it just depends on the car. I may have not known one but doesn't mean it doesn't happen. that's like the 2000 gen honda accords, we've had a bunch in at our dealership that had the transmission go out after a month of having it. all lineups have a few lemons I suppose haha

@saabkyle04 The 2000 up Accords were awful, we never had any, but my friends at school are always breaking. I will say the rest of the 300M was a great car, I think the motor was a bit to powerful for the tranny(Dodge is bad with this-Cummins), because its the same one that's been in minivans for decades.
orbitofdoom16 1 year ago

Thanks.

Chrysler has always built great looking products and I really hope that they pull through. I have high hopes that the 200 and 300 will be as great looking as they are as refined, reliable, machines.
