Actually this wasn't labeled anything at all at the time. These guys, Moss Icon (as well as other "emotive hardcore" bands) were actually trying to be hardcore punk but artsy at the same time. It just came out sounding "emo".
or robbing, slinging dope, smoking dope or wanting to kill cracker babies and all crackers ect... and everything bad but thet can't help themselve right? I't that damn negroid genome.
This song is like spoken word energetic anger.especially when the chorus hits in.
When it comes to 'emo' i mainly stick to the indie stuff like Sunny Day Real Estate and Mineral but Moss Icon have to be one of my favourite in general.
what bothers me about people using words like EMO to describe music is that... they really dont have any concept of how much music is in the world... do yourself a favor and buy / hear more music, expand your horizons and stop sounding like you have no idea about anything in the world
i swear i have no idea if i like it or not, i just can t stop listening to this song, it s confusing, freeing, annoying, disturbing, contradictory , i can t get it and i can t stop from listening to it !
@FascistFashion That's not true at all. Maybe the bands didn't call themselves emo, although some of them did. Regardless the people that listened to this music definitely called it emo/screamo back in the 90's.
@FascistFashion It was originally called Emotive Hardcore. And they were different than punk. Punk never had lyrics about heartbreak or sadness. Always just anger and fuck the government, or straight edge shit. All of which I love, but is different than this, which sets it apart.
Where do I even get a copy of this stuff :O?

Aaron is an incredible vocalist. His earlier stuff was definitely very similar to this. However Mewithoutyou's new stuff is nothing like this.

This is such a great example of the origional emotive hardcore aka emo music i shall look into buying this!

You know "emo" is a word invented by magazine contributers right?
None of original "emo" bands called themselves emo...quite like the original "punk" bands who never called themselves punk...music labeling = death.
