When I was a young Guy on a awful day when everything went wrong and I felt like Shit I would come home and put on this Albim There's Just A Little Magic and it was magic made me happy again POCO FOREVER
@77sunsetable ...actually its Richie Furay and Randy Meisner singing, Timothy later joined the band. Randy left the group and was given credit for his input on the album, his image on the front cover was later replaced with a dog...
I found the Deliverin' LP while working in a record shop at 15. I put it on the turntable, & I was Hooked on Poco! Got all the albums & went to see them at least 20 times. What a high energy show & Great fun!
My dad got to see these guys live, I think they came here to Montreal. They replaced a "heavy metal" (of those times) band, and I remember him telling me that he was around a bunch of hard rockers, ready for a big show. These guys came on, everyone was going wtf, my dad knew them though... Then these hard core rockers starting dancing and going crazy to these guys. Would have loved to have had seen it live.
85 thums up to 0 down, now that is a rarety to Youtube, says a lot for these guys.
there was a band called MESA years ago in Wi. they nailed this to a teeeee. yup you guessed it>>thats where i became a fan. had to have it all. While going to see Mesa play around Wi. we ran into Poco as Mesa opened for them. Got to meet everyone. Poco will forever be on my playlists.
CMA night and what a great night it is for Country music during the 2011 show.Once again I urge someone in country music to take note of this song,Anybody in A&R would soon realize this song could be a huge country hit even if remade with this arrangement..
My yearly trip back to Poco and I am still waiting for a county group to pick up on how this song is cryin for a remake. From CSNY,The Byrds,Buffalo Springfield,The Dirt Band,The Eagles and Loggins & Messina This is the song that continues to wait to be remade..Wake up and Git r Done !!
Here's the first hit for this great band I have loved since my sister came me the Cantamos album for Christmas back around 1975! What I never understood, was nobody up at College at SUNY NEW Paltz knew who this awesome band was! Well, I did, and would even blast them out my window on a warm May day-or just work out to them in my room-- all those years ago-1981-1984-as we tossed the frisbee around! Peace, BobbyK
i agree with the above sentiment.i.m 59 and first heard poco right before woodstck.the only othe pedal steel was Jerry with the new riders.this song brings back some great music memories for sure.thx for the post.
This music was mixed in with the non top 40, FM / album cut, rock stations back in the '70's. So the segue from groups like the Byrds, to the Eagles, to Poco was natural. You'd hear consecutive songs by the Stones, T-Rex, Mott the Hoople, Alice Cooper, Traffic and Poco. Love it.
I bought this as a vinyl album in 1969 when "Pickin Up the Pieces" first came out ..... It is still in good shape even though I played it over and over and over .... then some more .... then more too
Saw them at Boston Music Hall. Pretty damn loud for country music I must say. They were great though. Deliverin' was an album that captured them live pretty well.
Wow/ I graduated High School in '69/ they called us "sixty-niners". Yep!
Also dodged the draft, grew my hair, studied Hinduism, went to 3 concerts on average every week, and these were long events, with between 4 and 7 bands per show on average. Lived in St. Louis/ every tour went through there/ we saw them all. And Poco was one of them and of the best/ saw them numerouse times in their hayday.
@richarddsfar LOL, All US people OVER 50... Been jammin to POCO for longer than U been alive. LOL We, old people, still love POCO. Always have, always will. They rock my world. Glad some young people like the music. My kids were brought up on it and to this day, still love them. Along with Cross Canadian Rag Weed,.Check them out if U like this kind of music.
Last week as I watched the cma awards on tv and Barbara Mandrell was inducted into the country music hall of fame with I was country when country wasnt cool.I then thought of alan jacksons gone country and suddenly this song from 40 years ago stuck in my mind.I still love this song>Poco Pick It Up,an incredible song!!!!!
Tried to play this in top 40 in 1969.Never took off.Still i think the richie furay song could be a monster country hit almost 40 years later.I still believe in this song the 3.15 45 on epic came out the same time csn&y teach the children and should have been a smash...mike
