The lyrics are just pure unvarnished truth - life is a tragedy for all of us, meaning we all die, and there's no heaven or afterlife, but Robert makes it seem ok. Thank you Robert!!
They are the most endeared and love bands in the world hands down !!! I love this band why, because they connect with every emotion of the soul musically, no other band compares! No matter what mood you are in or feeling, you can always run to their music to get your fix & cure !!! Robert Smith & The Cure is music genius !!!
Oh how I love this song!! If only we could live where the birds always sing. A perfect world full of love and peace. No pain, no tears. No loss of loved ones. Now that would be beautiful. A wonderful song my dear Robert!! Robert is such a love!! The Cure forever and always!! :) ♥
This should have been the last song on the 'Bloodflowers' album. It is such a beautiful composition. I think arguably 'Bloodflowers' is the only truly philosophical album made by The Cure.
What a powerful song with such meaningful lyrics, powerful lyrics at that. A beautifully done melody . The Cure has truly stood the test of time. Robert has such a unique voice that just blends so perfectly with the sound and style of their music. Such an amazing and awesome band!! Rock on forever Cure!!
Sounds like he is singing about eternity...do u have the ticket...search your heart,...you'll get the answer...cause it's all in our hearts already....thank GOD
If you really listened to the lyrics, you would know that he was mocking religion and the concept of god in this song. He is saying that nothing happens for a reason and that there is no god controlling what happens in the world. Robert Smith is an atheist. Get a clue.
Hitler was an atheist too. But I'd rather hang out with Robert Smith then Hitler. Robert Smith has a way better chance of being redeemed then Hitler ever could have!
My original comment, before going off on a Robert Smith vs. Hitler rant- was going to be how immense the 6 string bass and guitars sound on this one. LOVE IT!!!!!! After 23 years of being a Cure waif, I never seem to ever get enough of The Cure and the 6 string bass jangle. It's like McDonald's french fries or apple pie or Coca-Cola or a nice cup of hot choco in the winter time. They never grow old!
Hitler was NOT an atheist. You might want to fact check before spouting off at the mouth. Hitler was funded by the Pope/Catholic church during WW2. And "cleansing" the world of the types of people that Hitler was is all in the Bible. Try again.
As an old man at a nursing home recently asked me- about a missing ice cream cone he was suppose to get after dinner, that I innocently tried to get for him: What'd you do, pull that out of your ass???
Rather, anyone for a pogo dance! How about a stroll thru a junkyard full of rusted classic cars from the '30s- or better yet, get tangled up in a tangle of wigs. Boredom sets in, and fatigue sets so much faster then one great big pile of shit.....
the only thing that i never liked about the cure is that sometimes stop playing the guitar and just hold the mic, and the song can sound a litle empty. Some examples are this and "the last day of summer". It´s a pity cos i like the way he plays, he has a very personal style
On the contrary, that very point you mentioned is one of the highlights of The Cure's music. Robert knows when to play and and not to play his guitar or bass. That is why there is a sense of space in some of their records. Perhaps that is why you even like his style.
Does anybody know of a free website where you can get music for these songs?-for guitar. I think trying to learn these songs would be enough motivation to keep me from giving up again.
Well when bloodflowers was out in the market i was studying for my exams to get to the university. This album was my only friend to my way to the exam centre. So i love this album. It brought me luck...
Proud fan since '89!!!

Ohhhhh a secret it is, if you live in a cave.....a cave hidden so far and safe, from this pathetically boring world....anyone for tea now?
