  • First thing I think the snare tuning sucks but I guess every person has an opinion

  • What I’d like to know is how the regular Birch Starclassic compares to this Bubinga Starclassic kit? Maybe even the Maple as well. I’d like to hear it from someone who’s had experience with these different kinds of Starclassic kits.

  • I'm not really diggin' the bass drum's sound; too "paper-y" and thin in some of the clips presented here. Please check out my accessories for bass drums on the Slug Percussion You Tube channnel. I also have a video there of me playing a green Ludwig drumkit, and the bass drum sound may be of interest to you. Otherwise by the way - great drumming Mr Bubinga!

  • Starclassic Bubinga's are teh sex!

Play them myself. The warmth and depth of the sound is just pure percussion porn. :-)

  • Egg carton deadening material is great, you can put it on the walls, in your bass drum....

  • And so begins the battle against the human drummers and.........the machines......

  • gahh those toms sound amazing...as well as everything else but im really diggin those toms

  • I love the Deer in the Headlights Look!

  • I think he beats his wife when he goes home at night.

  • if a serial killer played drums he would look like you

  • bella, la batteria...

  • how much money was urs ??

  • Of what sizes are your toms? I like the tuning.

  • HAHAH his face at 2:48

  • I fucking envy you man

  • awesome set, bland drummer

  • that set sounds beautiful

  • smile?

  • tune the drums, get mics, or both

  • Hallo Lars,

Nice playing. Nice double-bass work. I guess you are zoned in (or out) while playing. Du bist ein Cyborg, nicht wahr?

  • those drums sound so amazing why would they not be good for a particular type of music are you stupid? If they sound good then it doesnt matter!

  • Very nice indeed sir. That pattern you're playing at 2:48 or so, with 16th notes on the kick, and playing both rides at the same time sounds really good. Great overall playing, and a great sounding kit.

  • he's as emotional at drums as john myung at interview

  • paiste cymbals.. how much did that setup of cymbals cost? im going with paiste or sabian :/

  • @theuncommonband Thanks! You seem like you know a lot about drumming would you know how to get rid of snare buzz?

  • great control on the double bass man !

  • i am getting this kit soon but i want it in piano white so bad!!, but its a diff setup in piano white so i guess ill have to stick with the egyptian burst, its a really good second choice.

  • Whats the name of hi hat. It sounds really good

  • I also play with an open hand

  • Toms sound good, but I hate the snare... :L

  • Would a Starclassic Birch/Bubinga be better for more all round diverse playing

or would a Bubinga or straight Birch be better?

  • lol. the dudes face.

  • i would love to build a bubinga kit but as jojo mayer likes to point out, bubinga often comes from war torn areas where the people who harvest it might possibly be enslaved. imo, not worth it

  • @asenseofhate That sounds pretty cool.

  • you are so boring

  • Lol the face at 1:16

  • he's staring into your soul at 0:18

  • U got great chops but u got this weird "deer caught in the headlight" look when u play. Show some emotion.

  • i dont kno, i kno they say these are the heaviest sounding drums but i just dont hear it,

u wanna hear heavy listen to AJFA, or the black album, lars uses a tama granstar II birch and those are the heaviest most metal sounding drums

  • snare is weird

  • how much

  • I'm thinking of getting this set is it worth the money?

  • @theDRUMMERDUDE100

    ....yes, it is!

  • @theDRUMMERDUDE100 definetly! It's a great kit. I have a 2004 Aztec Red Starclassic with the matching snare. It's all birch, but it sounds basically the same as this. I love it, its a lot of fun and it sounds great!

  • @theDRUMMERDUDE100 about 2000 euros.

  • @theDRUMMERDUDE100 Listen to it on my channel! No equalization, either!

  • sounds like a TAMA granstar kit but more little

  • are these good drums for a heavy metal slayer sound?

  • @glitchhacker101

    of coarse

  • @glitchhacker101

    ...sure!

  • @glitchhacker101 slayer, slipknot, disturbed, korn = suck

  • @HockeyG33 troll. im not here to start an arguement. so.. fuck off.

  • @glitchhacker101 Dude, just listen to how crisp the snare is, and how sharp the response from the toms are. Those babies can cut through anything.

  • @glitchhacker101 SLAYER ALWAYS DID USE A KIT LIKE THESE ! NOW THEY USE DDRUM .... ;O(

  • @glitchhacker101 Shannon Lucas uses them for the Black Dahlia Murder. Look them up. If he can use it I'm sure it can do Slayer and laugh at you for playing something so boring.

  • ok no offence man but u r the most emotionless drummer ive ever seen. The drumming is good and all but it just seems like ur not into it at all. almost like ur bored.

  • @alkaseltzer085

Sometimes, if you've nothing nice to say... keep it shut!

  • @alkaseltzer085 Maybe he's just in it in his mind

  • ok no offence man but u r the most emotionless drummer ive ever seen. The drumming is good and all but it just seems like ur not into it at all. almost like ur bored.

  • @alkaseltzer085 stop complaining, listen to the drums.

  • K man No offence but u r the most emotionless drummer ever. the drumming is good but u seem like ur not into it at all.

  • hey Do our thing man,,, set sounds nice... if you ever wanted to record dry, these drums if any can do so.... here is a link to mine dry no eq/compression /room /gate... nothing... thanks chris Cannon

  • AWSOME !!!

  • sounds a little bit....hhmm...

  • YA I'm Lars HORnig, the highly efficient German drumming machine, YA!!!!

vhy du you think I am so good, ya? Ich like robot.

  • Comment removed

  • Nice kit i have the same bubinga but with another finish... I love it i feel like it is worth every single penny i paid for it =) yours sounds tight as well ! even though i'd like to hear it with mics... it would sound much better but for a Camera it sounds really good =) keep it up

  • i have tryed so hard to get this style, i just cant train myself to it.

  • Goddamit!!... staring at those suspended toms makes me go nuts to own one

  • i'm shocked 55,000 would watch this video?? Yikes?

  • lol, he just stares off, as he drums away.

  • I love the sound of this kit and I am interested in buying one, I am just wondering how powerful the kick drum is. I have a tama rockstar and the kick drum is a lot more quiet than most other kits I have jammed on. I use heavy beaters and I get a lot of power with my pedals, it just doesn't seem to project very well. Any advice would be appreciated, I really want to upgrade from the rockstar.

  • damn i like that snare sound (the one between your legs)

    is this starclassic bubinga too?

can you please give me modelnumber?

  • Best drummer named Lars alive...

  • wow that set sounds amazing with the sound foam on the side and in the bass drum!

  • cool

  • it would sound great with the sound-proofed room

  • Man...why do you have such a kit if you don't even enjoy what you are playing....i look at your video & you seem so bored doing this as a job that u hate to do or its just boring for u....man you should enjoy what you do....don't just sit stiff there....music is a way to express...not a boring job

  • @MegaTwilight5 Your stupid. This guy is very good and I can assure you that it didnt come overnight. He would have to love it to put the time in that he has.

So you can read peoples mind by looking at their face?

  • @FullForce1972 hahaha...so now im the stupid...jejeje.

1rst point: I didn't say anything about his ability to play the drums...i just said he looked so bored when he was drumming...he was just sitting stiff while playing(you can check if you want...im not of those bullshit comment people that erase their comments when people respond).

2nd point: If u put ur soul into something, u literaly can master it overnight(metaphore). I have been drumming since July 2009 & i can play Portnoy's Songs

  • @FullForce1972 I yes...u can almost read peoples minds by their expression...depending on the situation...& if they are talking...jejeje.

So then don`t come attacking me just because you dont understand people or u just literally dont put best efforts on nothing & cant understand that.

& last point: i didn't say that he didnt love the drums...just said he looked like he was just bored or like he didn't love it

Read:"LOOKED" not any form of the verb to be so if you have eyes & a brain USE THEM

  • @FullForce1972 & try thinking about something before doing it...& if you can try to put your best efforts on something you want to learn or master (it really works).

I will not respond to any bullshit comments if you respond that way so if you are going to respond that way...just...dont waste your time responding, becaus i wont.(depending on the case)

  • that has so bad sound :S:S

  • the toms sound sick man.. but im not diggin on the sound of your snare

  • damn thats like my set up, china on the left

  • Wait I just read two comments of yours, one saying you're a lefty and another saying you're not a lefty but just playing open-handed. So... are you a lefty or not?

  • @cole2paul ....open handed!

  • WAAA!! BUBI BUBI BUBI!!

  • The floor tom sound is awesome!

  • You should join a band and play out your heart's desires and ears... Be super-duper. Be in a band and do rolls and flams on your drum kit. Play hard, fast, long and durable. Durango style with a cowboy hat, boots and sleeveless tee. That way chicks will think you're Clink. Wing. Wink. Chesney, Black and Keith. Toby Keith my friend. The big dog TK.

  • What pedals are u using?

  • Am I hearing a groove from Angra in here? Awesome.

  • with mics?

  • @athansauc

...no! Recorded with Zoom H4 Digital Recorder!

  • @MrBubinga How much was that? And does it do Audio alone?

  • whatsthe yellow foam stuff up the wall?

  • What kind of hi-hat is that?

  • YAY!!!! Paiste cymbals all the way!

  • Damn some nice skills you have ! #FTW ! Drums are great too! TAMA #FTW

  • ur high tom hass a horrid buzz coming through it

  • Nice drums. I got the same ones in maple but with two kick drums.

  • Nice drums... Now please get some fuckin heads or sell it! That, right there is abuse. If you buy such a nice set, you give it ALL it needs!

  • beautiful sound...what heads doyou have in this video?

  • Great Solos! The Bubingas Rock My World! Thanks for sharing this post.Brainy,Brainman Media

  • the set sounds good just hate the snare

  • Ugh, people just dont understand open hand. tbh, i dont like open hand, but i understand it. its alot different then lefty

  • What china is that?

  • You look so serious, try to relax and have fun!

  • I wish you were my neighbor :P Awsome playing, mate!

  • but MrBubinga in the comment below you said you were a lefty? And now you play open handed? ????????

  • Cool man! Is this the Starclassic Performer? 5 or 6 piece?

  • Dude, you are very very good. Are u a lefty or a reu playing open? Are these mic'ed...or is this what I would expect to hear if I owned them. Every time I hear a miced kit they don;t sound the same when I own them.

  • I'm a lefty......The Drum is not mic'ed! .....simply very good tuned :-) and recorded with a zoom digital recorder H2!

  • @MrBubinga if your lefty, then how come u dont setup up ur kit for left handed playing? I just think i would be easier for u

  • @xSpacemartian I'm not a lefty I'm a open handed player!

  • @MrBubinga Sorry to do this mate but Quote: "i'm a lefty......The Drum is not mic'ed! .....simply very good tuned :-)" so i think it was just a simple typo confusing xSpacemartian thats all.

  • @MrBubinga yay me too!

  • @MrBubinga amen dude so am i!!

  • @xSpacemartian cuz he plays whats called "open-handed." I gues its useful for leftys so atigs where you have to play on someone esles kit, you dont have to switch it around.

  • @MrBubinga well your camara is kickass even the cymbals sound perfectly recorded :P

  • @MrBubinga that zoom compresses the audio like whoa!

  • how much does that kit cost?

    p.s. very nice drumming :)

  • Great drummer!!! Kicks some serius butt!!!

  • man dude, that is some nice beats you are laying down.......nice job.......

  • haha :D do it better -.- ...

btw really nice kit. I got the starclassic maple ... but your's a bit better :D the only thing i don't like is the fact that you play Paiste cymbals :D i prefer Meinl but who cares :D

  • @nobsiii

maybe you are right :-) That's the reason why I have bought today brandnew Zildjian K Custom Cymbals. Believe me....., they really kill your ears!

  • do you mean the paiste kill your ears or the zildjian K's?.. love the kit and jam btw!

  • @MrBubinga zildjian k custom cymbals are the best, I had A Customs and now I'm slowly switching to k customs, got 2 17" crashes, one is a fast crash, the other is a hybrid crash, recently bought 14" k custom dark hats and I want to get the k custom ride, the only thing I'm keeping are my 6 and 8 a custom splashes, however I don't have a set as good as yours, I loved the sound of your kit man, how much was it?

  • Aaah, richtig lesen hilft immer! xD

Die Frage hat sich geklärt. :D

  • Welche Crash Becken genau hast du? Das wird mir auf deiner Homepage nicht ganz klar ... :D

  • Sounds as nice as my Sonor Designers, I am impressed.

  • Absolutely amazing kit. I played on one of these in a drumshop near me, and It's probably the nicest kit I've ever played.

  • What is the cymbal you are playing at 1:10?

  • ...Paiste 12" Medium-Hi-Hat (Line Series)

  • Where would I find a head like you have on the front of your bass drum? One that has a tama logo, but the hole cut (and reinforced). For a 22" bass drum

  • I'm sure you will get the head with a silver Ring in every good Drumshop!

  • how much did all your kit cost ?? nice kit btw !! beautiful

  • Would look my better if you knew how to set it up lol

  • That is a great finish, great looking kit.

  • Hey could you tell me what you recorded the sound with? its amazing sound

  • ...simply recorded with an Digitalrecorder (ZOOM H4)!

  • You didn't mic these? These are amazing drums...

    Absolutely stunning.

  • (Not good at english but) Why dont you turn around your set to play as you need (crossed arms).

  • ...I can play much better with my style!

  • Hey what hardware do you use? it looks pretty durable

  • i also got a tama starclassic bubinga set ..... awesome

  • dont like your style =/

but i love your set :D

  • how did u tune your bassdrum? it sounds awesome!

  • good playing

  • Amazing sound.

  • how much did this cost? (Just wondering cause i might get onw.)

  • 1 Million US DOllar :-)

  • is the snare your using an original bubinga starclassic which came with the kit or something else

  • @HeavyDeath13

...it is the original Tama SCBS!

  • that guy creeps me out, with his eyes

  • Looks Like Joey Grecco From CHEATERS!

    Great Video,

    Is that a Remote HI-Hat?

  • @gooooproue ....it's not an remote Hi Hat!

  • ok kool, whatever it is you play it well with the extra snare:)

  • The drum' sound is AMA-ZING !!! Tama forever !

  • I think that's right... But it's hard to tell...

Also, I was wondering... Could you mix woods together? Like a maple snare... And bubinga toms/bass? I mean.. Would it sound good? Help me out.. I'm a beginner... : D

  • while mixing woods will drastically change the sound and projections of the 2 drums i see no reason that you couldn't. i mean i know many artists who have used maple snares with birch toms and the maple will project more than the toms! this is good for the definite snare sound as it is a signiture in all drum kits.

dont get into the idea of mix and match with drums tho don't ever mix heads or pair sticks of different size or bead as they will hurt your sound and kit both

    hope this helped

    drew

  • What cymbals do you use?

The drumming is excellent.. Keep it up!! : P

  • i think i saw Paiste

  • Cymbals

    1x14" Hi-Hat ANATOLIAN Diamond

    1x12" Hi-Hat PAISTE Line

    1x20" Ride PAISTE Sound Formular

1x20" Ride PAISTE 2002 Power Ride

    1x16" Crash PAISTE Sound Formular

    1x18" Crash PAISTE Sound Formular

    1x14" Crash PAISTE Sound Formular

  • Thank you dude! Im lefter too, and e couldnt find a good configuration for me with the drums for righters, and thats a amazing configuration! And amazing sound too!

  • very nice drumming!

i'm personally not a fan of the bubinga sound. bass sounds always ok but especially snare and toms have a lack of characteristics. also denpends on the heads, tuning and muffling of course but i played it in a store and i can't say that i liked it.

  • love that sound, great kit
