  • distefano is the best...

  • As much as I love Del Monaco&Corelli in this opera for their verismo I also think that Destefanos beautiful lyric voice is wonderful here.

  • G. MASINI, R. TUCKER, M. DEL MONACO, F. CORELLI, G. GIACOMINI, N. MARTINUCCI ...

    E. BASTIANINI, G. GUELFI, P. CAPPUCCILLI, M. MANUGUERRA ...

  • In my opinion the bench mark for this duet was set by Caruso and Scotti.

  • @Kentoo48

And Del Monaco and Bastianini are great too.

  • thats right,he passed away recently. They claim he never fully recovered from a physical attack at his home in Africa.

  • Beautiful aria, but I prefer with Corelli and Bastianini, I think that their is the best Solenne in quest'ora's interpretation.

  • the best 'solenne in quest'ora" have sung corelli&bastianini!!!

  • @jorjikia i think Di Stefano here is much better and convincing than Corelli

  • Is everyone aware that Di Stefano was living in Africa where he was attacked and ended up in a coma, living in a nursing home - the finale to a great career of a tenor who gave too much.

  • I think it is better that we don't know too much about that, it's toooooooooo sad. Lets just remember him as a God of the art of singing, and the Inspiration that drove Luciano Pavarotti to become yet another living legend, before joining his Maestro in a duet in heaven. Let's think of the two of them singing together this day.

    Angelisanti - Santangelo

  • Add the greatest Beniamino Gigli, Tito Schipa, Bjorling, Giuseppe Lugo even Lanza.

  • ...that's true, they too are the Gods amongst the Gods who have been elevated & conveyed to the greatest Operas of them all in heaven, to sing before the God of Gods. I have been listening to Schipa all last week, some times all night, and that's after & before working all day the next, and still I didn't get tired of listening to him!

    Cheers...

    Angelisanti - Santangelo

  • Beniamino Gigli said, "All tenors should take their hat off to Tito Schipa." You sir, are a connoisseur of the Art of Singing.

  • Uh - Di Stefano is not dead. He recovered from his attack and I beleive now lives in Italy.

  • Sorry, but he died in early March.

  • Replace Lanza with Caruso.

  • I friend of mine copied me about 50 different interpretation of this duett. Only the best ones. Most of them are live. This is one of the most beautiful recording. The beauty of Di Stefano's pianos are breathstopping!
