I dunno, there's something about Japanese live action special effects (think Casshern) that make these kinds of remakes look cheesy. Too many random explosions here, and cmon, a semi-automatic? The Gantz weapons and alien sfx seem to be well-done, but the cinematics shown so far are unimpressive.

I saw Tae, another video shows Dinosaur feet - The Dinosaur Mission, I think the dude on the train was a Vampire but it could have been Izumi. I just don't see how they are going to go that far in a supposedly around 100 minute movie without fucking up the story. Some parts of this weren't in the manga OR anime.

@Peeples01 it's not one movie its TWO movies :) some missions can be skipped but to be honest if your expecting a very 100% faithful adaption then prepare to be disappointed.

All i want is them to have the spirit of the gantz series with some missions handled okay.

@Peeples01 ah so your one of those fans... you do know some of the best adaptions aren't always 100% faithful right? like Blade Runner and the original Ghost in the Shell Movie. All I'm saying is to let your hair down, watch the film and enjoy it for what it is. Heck, if they do one mission of theres right in live action, then the movies will be worthwhile. If it's shit then fair enough but so far the suits look good, the guns looks awesome, Nishi seems straight out of the comic. Who knows? :)

@majin1988 Yes, but take into account that %30 - %40 of movies in the past few years have been remakes. Terrible remakes. Blade Runner and GitS were a rarity that wouldn't have been made if the director and writer didn't try their hardest. And today we have... Dragonball Evolution. I'm not completely set on this movie sucking, but the only bit of originality I've seen in the past couple of years from any movie "adaptation" is Inception. Death Note was OK till the second movie.

@Peeples01 Yeah but most of that comes from hollywood. If this was a hollywood adaption then i would feel the same as you. Japan is at the very least faithful to the source material (such as death note, battle royale etc.) I agree with remakes are very unoriginal and everything but Gantz does lend its self well for a live action adaption. From what i see this does look like they are at least trying to do a faithful adaption with scenes from the manga appearing in the trailers and overall look.

@majin1988 I agree with the Japanese remake (though they tend to change around the second movies) but Gantz is more to take in than 2 movies. I have to disagree with the manga to trailer thing. Just because they show the manga characters in compairison doesn't really mean anything, like The Losers. I think the adaptation has good intentions but as I said, it MAY suck. I'm just not convinced by the hype or trailers.

@Peeples01 I know but my point was it doesn't have to cover the whole series it can just be a good tribute to the original. Show some highlight scenes, a few good battles and character moments. Anyway, we'll find out if it sucks or not next year. I've got my fingers crossed.

@Peeples01 Also who cares if there is 27 volumes, Gantz isn't exactly a manga that has a deep plot that has to be carefully followed its broken up into various missions not all of them need to be put into the movies. I'm just a big fan of the manga and anime and I'm just keen to see it in live action movies and hopefully a new anime series.

@majin1988 The real problem is when you watch something like Gantz, it's one of a kind. It's a unique feeling, something no show or entertainment offers. I've really only seen this with Gantz, Dexter, Heavy Rain, these one of a kind ideas. Now someone comes along and says, "I wish everyone could conveniently watch this and like it and have it benefit me." and in the end it's usually about the latter. He screws it up and everyone says "Yeah, I saw that it sucked" and don't give the show a chance.
