Amazing! Ive been trying to figure this out i dont suppose you have a copy of the sheet music you email me please? i have found some of it online but not all the parts you play. cheers.
Fantastic tune! Have wanted to learn it since ive heard it first time with Barney Mckenna in 1992. Do you know where to find the right notes for this song? I ve search the web and found at least 3 different note pages.
i have to say, i love your style of playing, but i seem to have a different method of playing to you... i usually keep my thumb at the third fret and i use my first three fingers for the first 5 frets, using the little finger for the sixth and seventh frets.
just started playing 5 string, and have been looking for someone who could slow this song down enough to be able to learn!! you did but in a tenor version by the way a great job, do you know of any sites were i can learn this song in 5 string

Pretty amazing -- I just started learning this tune and this set the bar about as high as possible I guess. Outstanding and I did not know there were 5 parts. The versions I've heard seem to take the aabb pattern? 5 stars!
Gee, thanks, mando. This is a really great tune, but there's a less elaborate version that's a favorite of fiddle players that DOES just have two parts, so you're not wrong.
This sort of playing is why I want to try the banjo, but, I need to stick with my flute/whistle for now... Too bad I can't a version like this for the whistle.
Thank you for showing the most beautiful piece of Irish banjo I have ever seen and heard. My goal is to get close and enjoy the Irish Banjo - Perfect!
it is the version i want. i just find it difficult to work out which "open notes" you are playin'. maybe you could zoom your camera out? slan agus slainte!
Aha. Well, I've sort of inundated everyone with different versions of "Mason's Apron" recently, so I don't know that I can justify another one so soon. Let me wait just a little while, then I'll play it slowed down AND zoomed out. Slan agus beannacht!
I learned this tune off a recording by Kierhan Hanrahan. Is it not the version you're used to? I know I don't hit all the notes he does in the fourth and fifth parts, but it shouldn't make that big a difference.
I've been learning the tenor for about 4 years but have been unable to get a grip of this one so far. This is one of my favourite tunes and Barey and John's live duet helped get me hooked on the music.I'm going to give this tutorial some serious wallop and am determined to master it. Thanks for posting
