I'm actually in the process of making the same thing. Trying to make it a bit smaller though to make it more comfortable for the hands. I really do admire your work because this is not exactly the easiest thing to do. Very complicated. Keep up the good work and I can't wait until you start making the portable PlayStation games.

It would have been a good addition that would lock the keys and turn off the screen (a safe state or sort of). Let say you get busy and you want to continue later so you click the button and it falls asleep.

Dynamite Headdy was a great game... one of the best for the Genesis! The portable system looks nice, but the button arrangement looks quite odd... won't feel natural to play like a normal Genesis controller. But still, I'd want one of your portable Genesis' :-P

@Zorb28 Wii Portable -- No point , you would have to put it down to use a controller and the small screen would then be further away and impossible to see.

PS3 --- Not possible. Way to big with the Blu-ray, hard drive, etc, and it consumes to much power and makes to much heat.

That thing is pretty small. I have a sega nomad, and most people will say "why make one when you can buy one". I'll tell you why, It's heavy son-of-a-gun and you can't find a battery pack that still works. So until I crack open my pack and replace the batteries, I'm stuck to the wall.

Couldnt you use similar hardware to the original genesis or does it have to be identical because ive seen a portable genesis the size of a mobile phone...i dont get how companies make the console smaller but you cannot...probably because of it not being available to buy?

The new Genesis clones use emulation hardware NOT original Sega Hardware. Thats why all games don't always run perfectly or usually the sound is not proper. Same goes with all the modern clones. They emulate the hardware on a single chip. That's why it's so small. The original Genesis motherboard takes up nearly the entire size of the console filled with chips and VRM etc. That's why he used the model 3 since it's real Sega hardware but small enough to fit.

The Saturn had a huge mainboard which would make it hard to portabalize. And the PS3 and 360 won't run more than 30 minutes off the most powerfull batteries I could buy. And they are huge and bulky. So I have no interest in making them :)
