God, I so love Phil Donohue. He's only three years older than Jerry Rubin, by the way. ( I googled it.) I'd much rather have seen Phil Donohue develop a media empire instead of Oprah. But then again, he's too principled to have been interested in an empire.
I never said I care what he wears, just that he looks like an ass. It is even more ill when you see what he became later, a total yuppie. He went back on everything he ever said. He was a poser and a hypocrite. That's why the outfit is so ridiculous. Do I care? No. Just making a comment in my spare time. You seem to care though, at least enough to defend this joke or his sense of style. Maybe you've got the same outfit and you think it is really cool. Oh well. Next.
It actually does lol -- It might not mean you care alot about it. But the fact you're commenting about it; suggests you care 'enough' to comment about it. But besides that bro haha Im in the clouds too high for arguments. So peace&Love to you and your loved ones!
Or more precisely, the caller is the neighbor on Beevis and Butthead who inspired Hank Hill. I don't understand Rodneykingstrikesbck's post. Jerry Rubin is actually older than the Baby Boomers and the caller probably was WWII or Korean War generation. Baby Boomers would be the ones in the audience who are younger than 25. Jerry Rubin was born in 1938 when John McCain was pooping in his diapers.
Prick head old man is accusing someone that has something to say except for "yellow journalism" over and over like a trained monkey parrot for what he is doing. Fuck I cannot wait till the Baby Boomers and the Silent Generation are all in retirement homes on their psych meds.
Did anyone ever ponder on why he became the establishment years later? did it ever occur to you nuts to try to infiltrate the interior in order to desroy the system? i think thats what rubin tried to accomplish. "if you cant beat them, then join them"...then fuckin destroy them!
I always found it fascinating how much Rubin changed from the early seventies radical to a me generation self promoting capitalist. I think he is one of the most interesting of the sixties figures. Too bad he died so young.
Jerry died in 1994 in a car accident. I always wondered how him and Hoffman would have reacted to the right wing swing we have taken in the last decade.
Probably not much different than how they reacted to the "swing to the right" back in November 1980 when we booted Carter from office. Then again we are talking about "winners" who jaywalk in LA (refer to Missing Persons song) and OD'd on coke.
This isn't about russia, you guys all talk about russia this china that, but this is america. America is a capitalist system, and they make money off tv shows like these, even though it should be a form of communication, which yippies recognized and utilized for their own benefits
"In order to change the system you must become your system"
Always blaming the controversial? if revolution were not hypocritical or controversial it would not be a revolution. like everyone say FUCK! FUCK the war. but...let's keep fuck a "bad word" so that it has this "power" to it. that's hypocritical but it's psychological warfare. Jerry rubin was a genius.
I love Jerry Rubin

You care(ed) enough to comment on it. Regardless if it was out of your "spare time" lol

Not really. I might comment that there's a piece of dog shit on the sidewalk too. Does that mean I care? Nice assumption.

I understand what you're saying. Caring enough to comment, got it. But caring in general no. Have a nice one.

Abbie Hoffman would probably helping campus protests become big, working on student apathy.
and Jerry Rubin would probably be on broadcast television , Using the "Media" and exposing it for what it is. (using the system against itself)

maybe if he'd have tried a right wing swing,he just may still be alive?

Rubin says accurately, "He has his show and I have mine." Probably most of the audience didn't get it.

How long would a Soviet version of Jerry Rubin remin on live during the Soviet Afghan War or the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia?
