@iENJOIskating209 Well that was a stupid comment... The manual transmission FJ cruiser is AWD are you going to try to tell me that it isn't an off road vehicle. Same with the new Durango. Before making comments like this you should look at some of the off roading videos of the various AWD mid size SUVs, particuliarily the VW Touareg, they really are surprisingly capable.
@Ralzzzzzz im pretty sure you dont know the difference between 4WD and AWD,the FJ is 4WD since it has a CDL and possibly the durango too,but not VW and subaru and similar vehicles their just AWD with open diffs not 50-50 power
@iENJOIskating209 The FJ does NOT have a CDL, the Durango does NOT have a CDL same with many serious off road vehicles (umm... Land Rover!) all have LSDs but no dif lock.
@Ralzzzzzz every 4WD has a CDL that is what give 50% of the power to the front and rear axles, even if it is not a selectable CDL it is there or else it would be a AWD,LSD's not many 4WDs use them most use ETC or real lockers.i have owned a lot off road trucks and SUV's and they all have a CDL even if not selectable because they are 4WD,learn about drive train
@iENJOIskating209 I understand the function of a CDL... it's not rocket science. I have also owned many 4WD as well as many AWD vehicles I have to for my job. The vehicles that I mentioned do not call themselves 4WD vehicles they call themselves AWD vehicles and they do not have CDLs (and do not have equal power being distributed to both axles because they can't be locked the FJ manual transmission in lo distributes 30-70 to front and back).
@iENJOIskating209 To clarify there are both 4WD and AWD models of FJ cruiser. The automatic transmission FJ is designated at 4WD and has a selected 4WD system with a CDL. The manual transmission is what I have been talking about which is AWD with no CDL.
Hehe, as if this ended up on youtube... I was in the red GQ SWB that was parked at the top of the Chassis Twister watching in disbelief as this thing climbed its way up.
maybe they should have gotten some one that might know how to drive. watching this was like glass under your finger nails. get the Cherokee and geter dun. oh well they all can't be jeeps. buy American.
Im wondering does this have VTM, I see some times the rear wheel spins only, is this selectable in other countries. I know my 02 is full time FWD but the rear wheels kicks in when the front slips, i see the rear wheel of yours spinnng by it self at one time. I cant get mine to do that.
Love my MDX. I get traction all the time, even hard for me to do a front wheel burnout on the snow in tahoe. Feels like it jumps in the snow instead of roll.
how about not...dont get me wrong i love the MDX but there is no way that a vehicle with more ground clearance, approach and departure angles and low range and locking differentials will loose to a vehicle loosely based on a mini van. think before you speak.
The newest one is based on the pilot platform not the odessy's but this one was based on the vans platform it did however get upgraded a lot in order for it to compete offroad with other suvs this is still an suv.
I thought it was built on the Honda Pilot platform. You maybe right though, I don't know. All I know is that we love our 2005 Acura MDX. The 3.5L VTEC is amazing.
That MDX has a Honda badge because Acura is an American brand. That video is from Australia. In Australia and other parts of the world, some Acura models are sold as Hondas.
not true, the acura EL, AND CSX were made in canada. ando some integras were made in america, even some tl's, since america is a shit country when it comes to quality control i preffer canada made acura or japan made
ur a stupid f*****didnt ur parents teach u good maners??whats up with these kids now a days???....
let me explain:
The Acura MDX (Honda MDX in Japan and Australia) is a mid-size crossover SUV produced by the Japanese automaker Acura since the 2001 model year. It is related to the Honda Pilot. It was introduced in late 2000 as a 2001 model, replacing the slow-selling U.S.-only SLX, based on the Isuzu Trooper. In 2003, the MDX went on sale in Japan and Australia as the Honda MDX.
why do u have a honda symbol????? my wife and i just watch the video and shes saying that is a honda pilot while to me looks like a acura mdx, what is it????????
Yeah, I'm impressed. I have nearly an identical MDX (except it's red). I wouldn't have dreamed of trying any of that in it since my expectations of its offroad abilities are apparently too low. That inspires a little confidence in me. I definitely think he had VTM-4 locked.
Five stars for doing that in a MDX w/normal tires.
